Brought back great memories.
Growing up in this section of New Orleans, I was pleasantly surprised to see several homes of my childhood friends. No other city in the U.S. has such distinct and diverse neighborhood architecture. Another great volume in a GREAT series.
The best of the series
This volume in the N.O. Architecture series by the Friends of the Cabildo is, in my opinion, the best of the entire series. Perhaps it is because this is the section of the city in which I spend most of my time, a place to which I've become rather attached. Anyone who enjoys architecture will probably like this book, not just New Orleanians.

Wonderful Edition
I purchased this for my husband and we are now getting one for his father. It is a handsome edition and has lots of great features already listed in the previous review. My husband and I appreciate the short writings telling us what the readings are about each week...kind of a mini-homiliy. It is very easy to read and understand and helps you to participate in the Mass more fully. This book is good for a number of years as it lists the three-year cycle and you look up where we are in the liturgical calendar rather than only getting the Missal for one year at a time. I highly recommend this Saint Joseph edition!
Sunday Missal
This is a beautiful edition, with a hard cover and color illustrations. It follows the mass perfectly. My husband has an old missal from when he was a child and some of the readings have since changed somewhat so this updated version is useful to him. Two ribbon markers hold your place and there are sections on the rosary and prayers.

The St. Joseph Weekday Missal- Best Resource
The two volumes of the St. Joseph Weekday Missal, along with the St. Joseph Sunday Missal provide an ultimate mass tool that is affordable. Why spend [price] on a Daily Roman Missal when you can get the same thing better for [price]? These three missals enable you to enjoy and follow the mass every day for the rest of your life. I just wish that the Amazon price was smaller.
An excellent missal!
This is an excellent missal. It's simple to follow, has a lot of extra information in it, and is fairly easy to follow along with.

A Significant work for developing one's craft!
Stanislavski in Rehearsal has been the most influential work that I have come across in regards to developing my craft. The book spells out the Method of Physical actions, which was what KS was working on when he passed away. This work also disgards/de-empasis some teaching in his earlier work, like emotion memory. This is a must read for all actors, escpecially one's who are interested in the work of Stanislavski.
By far the best book on Stanislavski's "method"!
This is a good book. Buy it, specially if you're tired of the mumbo jumbo that is being taught under the name of Stanislavski by the so-called "Stanislavski experts."

great for historical value
I bought this for research. It has wonderful pictures that invite you into the life and business of New York 1900. It describes city life then in a way words can't.
Fascinating revalations
I am a great fan of Dover Books on NY. Coming from Italy where classic architecture is rife, what never ceases to amaze me is the evolution that is continously taking place in the big apple. The same spot seems to have been built upon "n" times. This book adds some beautiful photos of NY indoors as well, in restaurants, at clubs and parties. If feels as if I had just walked into a Henry James or Edith Wharton novel.

a story to read to y our child each December
a wonderfu story with beautiful illustrations by Tomie DePaola. Share it with your children. you will both enjoy it!
Feilz Navidad!
The Night of Las Posadas
Mr. DePaola has outdone himself this time. All of his books are wonderful, but this Christmas story is more than that. The illustrations are pure DePaola; they are clear and colorful. The story is simple, yet for children, unpredicable. The story is set in Santa Fe and shares an Hispanic custom with the reader; the Posadas held at Christmas time. I teach a whole class of Mexican ESL students and this book is perfect for my Christmas collection of books with Hispanic characters. This book, along with other DePaola books, and others, will add to my students' enjoyment.

Nightwork
"Nightwork" is the seventh Dave Brandstetter mystery by Joseph Hansen. The series is set in and around Los Angeles. Dave, a death-claims investigator is looking into the death of Paul Meyers, a truck driver. Someone placed a bomb under the truck and it blew up with him one night. Dave learns that Meyers had been doing nightwork to make extra money. Who killed Paul Meyers? Was it Silencio Ruiz, a gang leader who was sent to jail on Paul's testimony, and who vowed to kill him when he got out of prison? Was it Bruce Kilgore, a teacher, with whom Paul's wife Angela was having an affair? Does it have anything to do with Paul's nightwork? The plot and the characters are strong. Hansen is an excellent mystery writer. It's just too bad that there were only 12 of the Dave Brandstetter mysteries written.
Till Dangers Troubled Night Depart
Book seven in the Brandstetter series finds David comfortably settled with a still-fragile Cecil, and looking into the death of a trucker; a trucker who was on the wrong road at the wrong time of night--with a bomb taped to his rig. Hansen writes classic hard-boiled PI novels which start out in prosaic fashion, but weave and wind to brutal and surprising conclusions. The writing is always spare and vivid, with shrewd characterization, snappy dialog, and 'atmosphere' you can smell, touch, and taste. One of the few writers who actually merits comparisons to Chandler and MacDonald, Hansen also set the gold standard for the sub-genre of 'gay mystery.' NIGHTWORK is one of my favorites for the interaction between Dave and Cecil, and the chiaroscuro of Dave's private life and the grim world he works in.

Good Read
I gave this book a good Flip-through and really enjoyed it. It gives a good prespective on the ecological problems our fresh waters encounter. I especially enjoyed the parts dealing with the Great Lakes, because I live near them. Why not check it out?
Good Book
My Grandfather Is JH Leach (the editor of this book) , He gave me a copy of the book and I loved it. It's very good and I reccommend It. YA!

The Purpose of the Breed
Anyone who thinks of this breed as a large fluffy couch potatoe needs to find a copy of this book and read it. There is a world of insight into the ORIGINAL way this breed was hunted and what it was used on. The photographs of many of the Russian dogs in this book are specimens that look as though they could walk off of the pages and into a show ring today. If you really want to know the how and why of this breeds introduction into the US, you need to read this book. A must for breeders or serious fanciers.
The bible of Borzoi books
This book was written by Joseph Thomas, the man who singlehandedly introduced quality Borzoi hounds into the United States. These bloodlines have been perpetuated throughout the decades by sincere breeders, and the dogs carrying them are winning in the show rings and coursing fields of the present.
The book though small, tells the purpose of his visits to Russia to the great hunts of that time. He was dissatisfied with the quality of borzoi seen in the US and on the continent, and traveled to Perchino and Woronzova kennels to bring breeding stock back with him. There are a few photos of early hunting Borzoi, of correct type, and a standard of perfection in use at that time. No borzoi breeder should be without a copy of this book which is such an important part of Borzoi history.

of seasons known
this book is quite an adventure. I liked the decades which the book entails, since I was growing up during the heydays of the 60's & 70s and could easily identify with the times. The main characters were not only likable, but keep me involved with each new event they had to inevitable endure. The finish of the book was a complete surprise - and I like that. Thumbs up!!
OF SEASONS KNOWN
I Was totally impressed with this novel from start to finish due to the many twists and turns of this cold war adventure. Most of the characters seem interested, not only from their historical backgrounds, but also due to their importance to later passages and events. I have not read many books like this before, so its story line, time setting and surprising turn of events really kept my interest. I also think, this would make an excellent movie.
