Fascinating political reading
Ably edited by the collaborative efforts of Gerald E. Caiden, O.P. Dwivedi, and Joseph Jabbra, Where Corruption Lives is an erudite and scholarly collection of perspectives on the evil of corruption in governments worldwide. From the United States to Eastern Europe, South Africa, Post-Mao China and elsewhere, the political systems of nation after nation (and the illnesses within them) are offered up for close scrutiny. Fascinating political reading and recommended for political science and international studies reading lists and reference collections.

A work of meaningful art!
I heard this tale when I went to Indian Hills Elementary School in Gallup, NM in the early 70's. They showed it on one of the old filmstrips and I never forgot it. This story has carried me through life, and only after a long, long search did I finally find it a few years ago in this book. What a surprise to find Joseph Campbell involved with it, too! The sandpaintings of Jeff King, interpreted by Maud Oakes, are phenomenal! This story is truly magical, steeped deeply in the enchanting god-country of the Navajo. It was quite appropriately chosen as the first book of the Bollingen Series.

A worthy glimpse of the workings of American government
Compiled and edited by Martha Joynt Kumar (Department of Political Science, Towson University) and Terry Sullivan (Department of Political Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), The White House World: Transitions, Organization, And Office Operations is an imposing collection of scholarly essays by a variety of learned authors. Drawing from interviews with seventy-five former senior White House officials representing six administrations (as well as with former President Gerald Ford), to present a picture as assembled by top political scientists of what really goes on in the White House West Wing, The White House World would well serve future White House administrations seeking practical advice on how best to organize their presidencies. Topics scrutinized include the mechanics of Presidential transition, the role of various offices such as Press Secretary or The Office of Communication, and a special focus upon President George W. Bush's transition. A worthy glimpse of the workings of American government itself, The White House World is an invaluable contribution to Political Science reference collections and reading lists.

Maximize your ability to live a long and healthy life!
Whole Health: The Guide To Wellness Of Body And Mind, by Joseph Keon, Ph.D., is actually three books in one. Book One explores "how proper nutrition can be one of your most powerful tools in disease prevention." Book Two discusses the benefit of exercise, while Book Three examines "the relationship between body and mind." Keon, a nutritionist and fitness consultant, believes that all three are essential to achieving and maintaining good health. He first discusses the Standard American Diet (SAD) eaten by most people and describes some of the numerous problems resulting from it. He then talks about the nutrients, explaining the role of each in the body, and how to best obtain adequate amounts of each nutrient. He ends that section with guidelines for the "Revised American Diet," which includes a chapter for children and pregnant women. He also provides a selection of recipes and cooking guides. Book Two delves into the functions of muscles and how to keep them healthy. He presents an extensive conditioning program, including stretching, aerobics, and resistance training (lifting weights). Complete descriptions, including photographs, are provided for each exercise. Keon says "today it is increasingly clear that our physical health and well-being are contingent not only on a well-conditioned body, but on a mind that has been properly focused and conditioned as well." He discusses the toll that stress takes on the body, and offers suggestions for stress management. He also provides techniques for time management and goal setting. Keon says that "health has little to do with luck. While genetics does play a role, each of us can have a tremendous influence over our health--more than most of use have ever imagined." Whole Health gives you the tools you need to maximize your ability to live a long and healthy life.

A different book on wild life....
Wild Edens. Africa's Premier Game Parks and Their Wildlife, by Joseph James Shomon

It was our pleasant experience to read an extraordinary book! Although lacking in graphics, we do consider this one much richer in content than the more familiar, photo-laden publications covering this subject.

Wild Edens has a very well written, interesting and varied text. The author combines skill with expert knowledge in different areas, i.e., ecology, geography, history and zoology, giving the reader a complete picture of these most important African National Parks. In Appendix 1, a short essay about David Livingstone and his pioneering disclosure of central Africa, is well worth reading.

Appendix 2, with its complete list of the parks, gives very useful information to readers planning to be visitors.

An outstanding description of the killing of a buffalo by a pack of hyenas in Aberdares Park is most impressive (Chapter 3). The reader feels strong sensations while witnessing the "cruelty" of the natural world and the tense relations between hunters and the hunted, in nature's domain.

Because this is a book of major interest and value, we find it unusual to discover a gross mistake...The legend of the colour photograph depicting a zebra and two baboons at Jane Goodall's camp near Lake Tanganika (see colour photographs next to pg. 80, with a similar photo on the back cover). It reads: "Zebra and chimpanzees"... It is clear that the photographed monkeys are not chimps (Pan Troglodites), but baboons (Papio Cynocephalus). Zebras and baboons have the same habitat, ' savanna', while, typically, chimpanzees live in a forest. It would be rare for the two breeds, zebra and chimp, to meet in the wild ... their habitats being so positively different. How an error such as this could have been overlooked by such a competent author is disconcerting. However, this oversight certainly does not, in any other way, jeopardize the special value of a "different" book on wild life.

This Book is The BEST!
This book is about a hound pup who get lost, and he is adoptedby a big, black lone wolf that is known all over the countryside forhis courage, cunningness and intelligence. The hound learns the ways of this wolf, but when the original owner finds his lost dog in the wilderness, he attempts to tame him and use him as the best hunting dog that anybody ever had. This book is a MUST read, I recomend it to people who love reading about animals and the outdoors.

The series is the most enjoyable reading I've ever done.
I bought the series some years ago and have lost one and would like to replace it. I would also like to have my books autographed by Mr. Eckert.

I have recommended this writer to many friends and have bought the soft cover prints for several.

An action-packed novel
The book needs serious editing, that's not the author's fault. Having said that, there is simply no American writer today who writes adventure fiction like Paul Walkowski. Period! This book is so visual and graphic that it literally propels the reader into the nightmare existence of a drug society with the sinisterly disarming name, the Will of God! Some day a major publisher is going to pick this talented writer up and when they do he will set the standard all others will follow.
