Amazing.
If you hang around with fellow homeowners, there's a lot of water cooler conversation about various things, including the electrical code. This book just nails everything you ever wondered about, everything you haven't yet wondered about, and a few thousand things that you'll never need to know. Want to install a subpanel? Want to figure what gauge of cable to use to supply it? Want to know how to calculate the in^3 fill of a box? How deep to bury an underground cable? How to use raceways? That information totals about 1/4 of 1% of the contents of this book.

what can i say but here are all the rules to follow in order to be a safe and correct electrician. as an electrical contractor, i use this book almost daily to make sure my work is "up to code". the handbook shows in great detail plenty of examples and pictures of alot of the individual codes. this only helps to read and understand the national code. a must for anyone serious about his/her workmanship and the safety of the same workmanship.

Fantastic book for teachers, parents and kids!
An excellent reference for teachers and parents alike, this book contains Native legends related to gardening as well as projects based on the tales, gardening tips, helpful suggestions for beginners, recipes to use your garden's new- found bounty, and much more!
Joseph Bruchac is a very well-known storyteller in the Native American community. Along with his various co-authors in his different books, he combines storytelling with various teaching and family-based activities. I collect his books, because they are both a great reference for Native American mythology and belief, but also because my daughter and I can then turn around and learn together about the great past of the United States.

The Native Leisure Class: Consumption and Cultural Creativity in the Andes

Studying the weavers of Otavalo, Ecuador
In this book, anthropologist Rudi Colloredo-Mansfeld provides an ethnography of a small weaving village outside of Otavalo, Ecuador in the South American Andean mountains. The Otavalo Indians have become famous internationally for marketing their textiles (such as thick, wool sweaters) and playing traditional pan-pipe Andean music. Colloredo-Mansfeld examines how economic success has influenced the Indians' craft traditions, social networks, and consumption patterns. As the Indians have become wealthy, class and ethnic divisions have emerged in local communities. He expertly explores how the Indians have negotiated these local and global interactions. One of the most fascinating aspects of this book is the pen and ink drawings which accompany the text. He describes how while living in Otavalo conducting the research for this book his act of drawing led to "a more complex relationship among observed, observer, and those observing the observer" (p. 50). It reversed power relations and opened up intimate opportunities for him to become a more active member of the community, which has resulted in a more complex and nuanced study of the community.

Thayer's book review
Navajo Long Walk is an exciting book about an Indian family who is forced to go to camps and live the white sholdiers' way. The main characters are Kee, Hasba, Gentle Woman, the mother, Strong Man, the father, and Wise One, the grandfather. This family, like all the other Navajo families, have to move to different for-away camps that are called forts. Some of the forts they go to are Fort Defiance and Fort Summer.

Kee learns that you can be friends with white soldiers like when he neets a white soldier, his horse and his son.

The reader will enjoy this book becasue it is very detailed and you can picture every word in your mind. You will have a great experience reading about the Navajo way of life.

It inspired me to go into the field of Neuropsych...
I found this book in my junior year as an undergraduate. At the time I was waivering about my future in any area of psychology which was disconcerting as it was my major. Mr. Jospeph's book was given out in an intro. to Neuropsychology course. The book was thick with information, but it was accessable enough that it did not overwhelm me as a new comer to neuropsychology. There were also elelements of personal philosophy that appeared regarding the function of the brain and the reason it works the way it does which appealed to my mind set. The book is also well designed in its chapter and section lay out especially compared with the more circuitous presentation of information offered in other books on the subject. It does tend to focus less on assessment than it does on pathology. This book is broad in its review of the subject while providing a good number very specific facts. This book, though it is nearly a dozen years old, provides an excellent starting point for those who are interested in brain and behavior relationships and who are new to the field. I still find myself thumbing through this book all the time, and thus I must highly recommend it. By the way neuropsychology will be my area of emphaisis in my doctoral studies, and I blame this book for my fascination with it.
