An Adventurous Journey Back in Time
How wonderful an experience to go back to the days of innocence and adventure. Meet a superb story teller and fine writer in Stephen Joseph who takes us through his coming of age story to meet Jim Billy, Dick, and especially those old spirits of the West. All names that shaped a deep part of who he grew to be. This book has it all--romance, adventure, nature, and of course humor--all told with remarkable descriptions. And most of all you will be surprised with the author's revealing himself to us. Don't think this is a guy's book; any woman will enjoy the women characters that play an important part in the stories. Must read for anyone who grew up in those days; and a delightful longing might await those of you who didn't. Must read!

Clustering Questions Answered!
This book is great if you want to know the specifics of what Sun Cluster 2.2 offers. I don't know why they made this book when Sun Cluster 3.0 is going to be certified with alot of the recent hardware real soon (if not already), but non the less alot of companies still use 2.2 because 3.0 is not certified with certain hardware. This book goes extremely in depth and is great for all you Sun Certified engineers out there who want to know more about the internals of clustering.

Wow! This book is FUN. Great photos. History comes alive.
We picked up this book onboard the SS Independence in Hawaii. Hey, Wow! This book is FUN. It makes history so alive and relevant. Both my husband and I related to aspects of this story. The photographs of Grace Kelly are charming and romantic, while the politics of the period involved in getting the ships built are eye-opening. What an incredible feat of engineering to construct something of this size! The Henry Dreyfuss personal anecdotes hightlight the designer's process. There are many touching, personal stories from people who rode the boat or worked on it. Great period photos. Down to earth writing. Makes me wonder about the photographs that were not selected for this book! Thanks to the authors! A book I keep coming back to and enjoying over and over.

Supervision, as a Reflective Practice
Reading this book encouraged me as a supervisor to reflect on my practice, and is a helpful tool to improve supervisory skills, in turn improving the effectiveness of teachers.

In the first section, there is a discussion of the 'Myths of Supervision.' Many of the myths encouraged me to confront my images of what the 'ideal supervisor' should be. The book then looks at a developmental perspective of supervision. I learned that just as with children, doing the same for each teacher, is necessarily not the best practice. The book helped me to think about how such things as age, experience, and education play into the employee's expectation of their supervisor helping to define the relationship.

The dance between supervisor and supervisee as describe in this book helped me to reach new depths in my search for continuous improvement. As a supervisor, I have become more mindful of my supervisory practice. As I implement supervisory changes, I have encouraged teachers to truly become 'Reflective Practitioners.'

One of the great lessons learned from this book is the similarity between best practices with children and best practice as a supervisor. This parallel awareness helped me to understand that supervisors who help teachers maximize their potential will focus on: the relationship, allow teachers to learn from mistakes, ask pivotal questions to deepen understanding of topics they are exploring.

I recommend this book to Early Childhood professionals, who have supervisory responsibility, including: Principals, Head Start Managers, Child Care Directors and Head Teachers who may supervise. Many of us assumed these roles without formal training, yet this book will give us things to implement and much to think about.

Cut to the Chase
This is an easy weekend read - but a book you'll pull out again and again. I've plowed through several labor management and contract negotiation tomes, looking for the information that exists in this concise, yet complete, "shirt-sleeves" guidebook for managers in a UNION environment. It's all here. I'm getting one for each of my supervisors. As HR manager, it will make my life much easier.

The book's clear style belies a story rich in detail. It gets the readere about as close to plitics and the Supreme Court as he is likely to get. It is particularly strong on the Hughes court and the justices of the period.

Read this book!
This book should be required reading for all who call themselves Christians! Instead of the 4 Spiritual Laws, we should be reading this marvelous work be this great Puritan Evangel. In less than 150 pages Alleine walks us through what a true conversion consists of . Alleine tells us some of the mistakes about conversion, the nature of conversion. To me the best chapter is 4 where he gives us the Marks of the Unconverted. Upon reading this I found my soul deeply disturbed, as it was obvious that I was in an unconverted state, 25 years after praying to "receive Christ". I soon made a total surrender of my all to Christ, vowing to live a holy life before Him. He points out our lives, not our lips are the truest evidence of a saving faith. He closes by showing us how to be converted, that the gates of Heaven and Mercy are thrown open to us, and the Savior waits to embrace all who will accept as LORD of all they do. When I get to heaven after I first embrace the savior, I will search out Joseph Allenie.

Good old fashioned Horror!
A fun read, low on gore and high on suspense. If you're looking for Splatter-Punk, look elsewhere. But if you want a good read, with interesting characters and some solid scares, this is your book. Recommended!

A must for social studies teachers!
Unlike many books concerning teaching and the Internet, this is much more than a listing of websites. This book was written by a number of educators who make great suggestions on how to incorporate Internet resources into the curriculum. Each chaptor focuses on a specific area of instruction, so teachers with a geography class do not have to slug through pages of history advice to find what they need. Any social studies department chair who has not already purchased a copy for their staff to use needs to get on the ball and buy a copy.

Wonderful poems and interviews
Wonderful poems and interviews exploring oral tradition and poetry, and staying grounded in Native American culture in the midst of the modern world. Includes a good sampling of contemporary writers, including the prolific Paula Gunn Allen, and N. Scott Momaday, author of the classic House Made of Dawn. One of my all-time favorites.
