However, it dose not go into that much detial and it could give more examples. Overall, I found that it helped me in the understanding of science.

The Holy Scriptures

New Look at the New Translation: The Raw Data.
This is the Joseph Smith Translation (aka "Inspired Version" and "New Translation") of the Bible. Granted that the Bible isn't Holy Ground, but rather battleground, it is wonderful to see what Joseph Smith has don with the Bible to improve it. He understood that doing a new translation of the Bible was a branch of his calling (HC 1:238, D&C 107:92)

I think that every great churchman has his own version of the Cannon. The Jews believe in the Hebrew Scriptures, the Catholics believe in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures along with the Apocrypha. Martin Luther removed the Apocrypha, and classified the Book of James as an "epistle of straw, and frowned upon the Book of Revelation. Thomas Jefferson also had his Unitarian version of the Bible, with his vi3ew of the scriptures. More recently, Dr. James MacArthur came out with his rather intense version of the Bible, with many footnotes and maps.

What Joseph Smith did was to pray over the Bible and receive inspiration about what needed to be corrected and restored back to the Bible. The version clears up some of the contradictions and questions of the Bible, such as Cain's wife, the length of days of creation, what God was doing before the creation, and weather or not Moses actually wrote the first five books.

This edition differs slightly from the official Community of Christ (RLDS) version of the bible since it includes the preface to the book of Genesis that they Community of Christ places as a section in their Doctrine and Covenants. This book follows the Community of Christ versification and punctuation. There are no footnotes. "Songs of Solomon" is missing without any explanation. The Joseph Smith Translation manuscript mentions that the Song of Solomon was not inspired. The footnote to Hebrews 5:8 explaining that the parenthetic refers to Melchizedek and not Christ is also missing.

We do not have a perfect version of the Joseph Smith Translation, but this edition helps us come close to the goal.

A whole world in a Hotel
Gabriel Dan comes from war and he stays at Hotel Savoy in an unknown industrial town Eastern Europe -as a matter of fact is Lodz, now in Poland. It's the summer of 1919. The First World War has finished and destroyed many things, and one of them was the Austro-Hungarian Empire, that encompassed lands from Russia to the Mediterranean sea, Slavonic people from the North (Ukraine, Russia) and from the South (Slovenia, Croatia), Hungarians, Germans, Jewish... When Joseph Roth misses that Empire that was destroyed with the war, giving birth to many little National countries, he did not really miss the crown and the Habsburgs but a State in which people from different religions, from different nations and languages could be together. He's not only a wandering Jew, but a wondering citizen and European. And that loss of a common ground is showed in this book. People from many places arrive to that hotel, in which they're located depending on the money they have: the higher floors belong to sad, poor people, that die "among the steam of bleaching"; the lowers ones to rich men that entertain themselves with the beautiful but poor girls of the bar. Prisoners of war, Jewish that come from Russia, displaced citizens, revolutionaries... they all arrive there and there's really no other place to go. They expect the important and rich man from America -called Bloomfield, née Blomenfeld- to arrive and solve all their economical problems. But he comes and goes... and the only solution is the Revolution. Remember, this novel -very entertaining, indeed, but confusing if you don't understand the ethnical and political complexities of Eastern Europe- was written in the 1920s, and the Socialist revolution was the only hope in those days. The sadness, the poverty, the anguish and the displacement that the war created are difficult to bear. And Joseph Roth has a special gift to transmit those feelings, and a great great imagination to create metaphors, so poetic, that even translation improves his lyre.

Building with confidence
Let me start by saying I didn't own this book until today. I have read my friend's copy and decided I must have it for an addition I'm planning on later this year. The book has been updated judging by the cover art. There are so many illustrations that help make the text easy to comprehend. I don't plan on doing everything by myself, but this book really breaks down all the steps necessary to building rooms, or even a complete home. I really liked all the tables, I feel like I have a good chuck of the tools that architects have. (I'm sure that will anger someone). The only thing I miss (and this is probably not practical for a book) is the California specific earthquake requirements. I think a book would have to be specific for this state, and even then it gets outdated with our ever changing laws and regulations. If you are even *thinking* about building an addition, this is a must have book.

How to Get More Out of the Mass

A Good Place to Start
This book is pretty good at explaining the Mass simply. For those of you who don't read much, or have a hard time reading, this book is a very good place for you to start learning more about the Mass. The author assumes that you are Catholic, so those readers who are not Catholic should look elsewhere for a book explaining the Mass.

I would highly recommend this book to young Catholics (7th to 12th grade) or to those who don't like a book that is heavy in theology.

As a further note of what to expect, I provide this quote from the author detailing his intentions:

"The main concern of this book is not so much the beauty of some prayer or the meaningfulness of a gesture or the profundity of a rubric but, rather, the significance of those prayers, gestures, and rubrics in relation to the whole Mass."
From the "Introduction", p.10

A good read and a good first book
This book is good - especially for being his first book. If you're interested in reading a new, young poet then I'd suggest you pick it up. His images are stirring and original. The rhythm of the language is very interesting as well. I've read most of the poems quite a few times and they get better each time. Very good book! Can't wait to see what's next!

A great book to get things clear
This is a great book because it sets thing clear for the student, the researcher, and the doctor. Although nowadays it is hard to be up-to-date without a journal on the specific subject we are interested in, this book does the best to explain the basics of hypertension and the ultimate advances that have been made on the subject, at least by the year it was published. It's easy to understand and it's very well structured so as to find the theme we are looking for as fast as possible.
