excellent reading material. prompt delivery.great service

So what is Neo-Tech?
Neo-Tech is the name given to a way of thinking, a way of life, committed to text by Frank R. Wallace over twenty years ago. Its fundamental concept is absolute freedom to do whatever you want, so long as you harm nobody else. It sounds like a utopian dream world but, unfortunately, it is flawed in a few basic concepts.

Since we all live in a real society, few of us are in a position where we don't have neighbors. The Wallace theory says that (for example) if you want to fill your garden with rubbish, that's fine. Society rules says that, if your neighbor's garden is full of junk, your own quality of life deteriorates.

The Wallace theory says that EVERYTHING should be run privately (he makes possible exceptions of defence and highways), and that folk will get what they can afford to pay for. Again, this works fine for those who have incomes or private means. But are we REALLY going to ignore those who have nothing? Can we REALLY say 'Sorry buddy, but you don't count.'?

In its conception, Neo-Tech holds up the values of truth and honesty as opposed to the lies and deceit of politics today. Few people (save for the politicians, weak-minded followers and corrupt big business) would disagree with this philosophy. However, Neo-Tech is an extreme point of view and, if you delve into its ideology, I would suggest you do so with half an eye on the truths that are written BETWEEN the lines.

If you believe that politicians are basically good people and that 'they know best', then you owe it to yourself to read any Neo-Tech book and consider revising your opinions. Wallace's books will lead you to understand how we are all being cheated by our so-called leaders.

Finally, Neo-Tech deals with the mysticism of religion (ANY religion). In its carefully though out arguments, it blows away any vestiges of religious belief that the average reader may still have. On the other hand, of course, if the reader is so blind and bigotted that his[her] religion may not be questioned or doubted, Neo-Tech will not improve the situation any, so delve into this philosophy only if you believe yourself to be open-minded.

There is nothing like the Netter Series!!
Frank Netter, MD's series of medical illustrations remain state of the art in the world of anatomy texts. Volume 1 (and Vol. 2) of the neuroanatomy series are no exception. With comprehensive text, bright, beautiful, full-color illustrations, these books literally captivate the reader-student, no mean feat with fundamentally boring material! Original anatomical drawings by Netter, in my opinion, are much better teaching aids than those derived from neuroimaging - which tend to be dark. Netter's sometimes cartoon-like and comical artwork is so "50's" - yet so well-done that they only seem dated in terms of non-essentials and really do not distract. I am somewhat a collector-lover of neuroanatomy texts (I teach the subject)and Netter's top the list. The illustrations also make outstanding slides for lectures(which can be purchased separately as a set from Novartis[Ciba-Geigy] or scanned-in from the text). These books are fabulous and are literally going to be collector's editions!

A comprehensive and detailed book of neuroanatomy
This book is absolutely fabulous for anyone studying neuroanatomy. Netter's diagrams are exceptionally clear and comprehensive. The text which accompany the diagrams is actually more detailed and informative than I would have expected. All areas of the brain are covered in detail. In addition to information on structures, there are diagrams of neuroanatomical pathways, the projections of structures and so forth. A great buy for any neuropsychology student.

Brilliant summary
This book is a brilliant summary of neuro-ophthalmology which is a perfect guide to writing clear essays in exams and useful for sorting out diagnostic issues in the clinic.

Great little review book!
Fantastic, skinny little neuro-ophtho review book. Good for neurology residents and the eye guys seem to like it, too. Great chapters on visual fields, and also on ocular motility.

Best straight reference guide for beginners or experts
We use this book constantly in our tasting room. I have years of experience in the wine industry and I'm always running to Schoonmaker to answer all kinds of obscure questions that our customers come up with. The format hits the major points of each topic without opinion or prejudice - how refreshing to get the facts without the hype on a subject that is over-hyped to begin with!

The basic wine encyclopedia
I cut my own wine-loving teeth on an earlier edition of this excellent encyclopedia, literally reading it from cover to cover over a weekend when I was first excitedly discovering the wine hobby. Alexis (not Alex) Bespaloff's revision (and his editors) unfortunately took a lot of the guts out of the old book -- along with adding in much new information about New World wines -- but it's still a useful reference, arguably the one single-volume encyclopedia a wine lover ought to have if you can have only one

Beautiful book with a soul and heart shown through pictures
Beautiful book full of poignant and wonderful photographs of Nicaragua. Unforgettable, shows the country from everyday like to after ravages of war and weather.

Amazing and daring! Gentile is a master of his craft.
William F. Gentile has created a masterpiece with his collection of photographs from Nicaragua. Gentile shows the viewer tender and emotionally driven pictures of a people in an impoverished country trying to survive through the Sandanista and Contra war the United States helped to create. Amid shattered dreams and pain brought on, we also see aspirations of hope and happiness. Examples include wounded and dead soldiers being brought home, a housewife cooking dinner while the jungle behind her burns, and a young boy witnessing a dead soldier. There is also a baseball team carrying guns instead of bats, the affects of a town destroyed by a hurricane, and a Sandanista policeman kissing his family goodbye before he heads to work. As a hopeful photojournalist, I believe this book should not only be used as a reference to all photographers and journalists but shown for historical purposes.

Clarke et al.'s Nonsmooth Analysis
Of all the scientific or mathematical books that I have reviewed or even read, I would place this book at the position of number one (1) in excellence, creativity, genius, inspiration, intuition, and usefulness. It has inspired some of my own best research and I often cite it in presenting papers at conferences and publishing papers. In my opinion, Nonsmooth Analysis is one of the 20 main research areas in mathematics of the last 5 years (others include rare events/large deviations, solutions of Navier Stokes/Einstein field equations/Schrodinger equation, fractals/chaos/entropy, fuzzy sets/fuzzy logic/multivalued logic/other logics, semigroups/Clifford algebras/spacetime algebras,etc.). Perhaps the most astonishing finding of Clarke et al., book here and in their journal papers (and those of their colleagues), is that equations become inequalities and subset relationships when one goes from smooth physics to disconnected and sharp-bend physics. The latter types of physics may seem difficult to visualize at first, but think of what happens when ice suddenly changes phase to water, or water changes phase suddenly to vapor/steam. Or think of what happens when a runner or a racecar or a plane suddenly makes a 180 degree about-face (runners might be able to do this, but planes can only do it approximately at usual speeds). Ordinary physics and mathematics cannot handle these situations. Other examples are catastrophes, sudden strokes of good fortune, etc. You can see that these are often related to rare events, which I have reviewed elsehwhere. It turns out that the usual mathematics which involves equations becomes inequalities (less than, greater than, etc.) and subset relationships (A is inside B or is a subset of B) in the new situations. Clarke et. al. prove theorems quite rigorously in this area. If you have any hesitation in reading this book because of its mathematical content, hire a reputable consultant or tutor to translate the results into an approximation to ordinary English. If you don't, you'll miss out on opportunities to apply the results to your own area and maybe even your own daily life.

an excellent book
In general, we assume the differentiability of functions. But this is the very strict assumption and nondifferentiable phenomena are common. So if you want to drop the assumption of differentiability, I'm convinced that you have to read this book. This is one of the best books.

Oh, How I Wished I Could Read!
Published in Paperback by JGC / United Publishing Corps (January, 1995)
Authors: John Gile and Frank Fiorello

Reading Is A Big Deal!
This story is presented in an amusing way. It captures "real life" scenarios through its illustrations that most students can relate to. However, the message of this adventurous character is a serious one. The little boy ,without a name, could be any boy or girl that experiences difficulties in everyday life because he or she cannot read signs, messages, etc. Thus, the meaningful message is that reading is really necessary. The "bad dream" of not being able to read does not have to become a "nightmare". The ending leaves the listener and the reader with a sense of empowerment if they can already read and leaves the emergent reader with purpose and hope for learning to read.

Teacher Note: This book is a must for your classroom library. Place it on your beginning of the year reading list. Preschoolers, kindergarteners, first graders, and struggling second graders can all benefit and be encouraged from the practical uses of knowing how to read. The author and illustrator study of Mr. Gile and Mr. Fiorello will lend themselves to positive classroom discussions.

A MUST for all Elementary Education teachers!
I really liked this book because it shows children, in a fun way, why it is important for them to know how to read. To be safe, children need to know how to read signs, to know where there is potential danger. That's only a small part of the importance of functional literacy, but a very important one.

One of Thompson's best Oz books
Like some of Ruth Plumly Thompson's other Oz books, this one is partially based on a mystery left behind by L. Frank Baum. In THE PATCHWORK GIRL OF OZ, he mentions that Ojo's uncle (and presumably Ojo himself) is related to the ancient Kings of the Munchkins, but he never really does anything with this idea. Thompson, on the other hand, uses it as the basis for one of her most exciting stories, with Ojo caught up in a plot by one of the scariest villains in Oz. As the other reviewer said, this book a good deal of character development, mostly involving the bandit Realbad. This robber is torn between protecting his new-found friend Ojo, and trading the boy in for a huge reward. Realbad also has an interesting secret, which is revealed towards the end. There seems to be a greater sense of danger in this book than in many Oz books, with the characters up against two monsters, a band of unfortunately stereotypical gypsies, and several other threats. Most of these dangers are rather easily overcome, though, so I doubt the book would come across as scary. This book also gives us some history of the Munchkin Country of Oz. Overall, this is one of the best Oz books, and well worth reading to anyone who enjoys the series.

Good character development
Not only is this book suspenseful and funny, it also features more detailed character development than is usual in the Oz books as Thompson develops the friendship between Ojo--whom we first met in Baum's "The Patchwork Girl of Oz"--and a bandit named Realbad. Recommended.

This book is an exciting adventure in the Idaho wilderness
The reader follows the author and her biologist husband on a fall to spring stay in the wilds of Idaho. The vivid descriptions of their encounters with such wildlife as cougars and elk in the beautiful back country take you along on their special adventure. The story of their survival in the cold, frigid winter environment remind all of us that without our modern conveniences life becomes much more difficult. This is an exciting first-person story and well worth reading. An excellent book, that I strongly recommend to all lovers of the out-of-doors, and to those who want to learn more about our natural world.

I felt as though I was in the cabin with "Partner"
This book was written from a women's point of view. I enjoyed the diary style writing. I am an outdoor person and don't know if I could stay for a whole winter in the wilderness. The author wrote about the hardships of life in the wilderness, the difficulty in traveling during the winter. She brought out some of the difficulties that most of us take for granted. A real pioneer adventure.

I read this book in high school.
As a high school youth this book was my introduction to subtlety. And as a kid in Pittsburgh I had much to learn on this subject. One would hope that in today crass atmosphere such ploys are still advantageous but I doubt it. In fact I'll wager that there is not one person in a thousand who can identify this book as the source of the popularity of the word "ploy" although the word is widely used. Read it, it's fun.

Humor at it's best
Potter caqptures the essence of British humor. He wrote circa 1950 and was a master at capitalizing on observations for the purposes of gaining an edge in the most humorous of cicumstances. The British understatement and preoccupation for the unimportant things in life is the starting point for Potter to describe how life should be lived. From how to decorate ones office, how to walk in a museum, how to properly answer the telephone, to what to wear for golf has been reduced to a science so that the other person will ultimately feel uncomfortable and off balance. If one can possibly think British, then this book may be one of the funniest books ever written.
