I first saw Frank Messina read here in Amsterdam. Intrigued by his performance and populars here, I bought this book thinking I'd learn more about him, more about life in America and New York City. But, I have learned more about myself. I am forever changed, gratefully. Thank you Wasteland Press for publishing Frank Messina.

The Truth is out there and this guy knows it
I'm a student at Columbia University in New York in the Anthropology department and I just love this book Mr. Macri's ideas are groundbreaking! His theories have helped me raise some questions in class that have made my professors go silent! This tells about more than just your run of the mill paranoid conspiracies book, it's about things you can really uses in every day life from a theory on the aids virus to new and radical ideas in agriculture and even weather control. This is one book any New Age thinking person should not be with out!!!!

Best Read
A great reading of Leviticus. Frank Gorman's other works on sacred space and sacred time inform this book's commentary and are a great example of how Leviticus must continue to speak to a modern age - not so much about "institutions" but about real use of space and time.

Outstanding, Understanding & Empathetic
In my opinion I believe this book is biblical and explains Old and New Testament teachings for marriage, divorce and remarriage. He is clear on the responsibility of both spouses in marriage, male and female roles, husband/wife roles and responsibilities and what should be in place for biblical reconciliations to take place. Excellent book. Very lovingly written.

A remarkable diary written by a remarkable girl!
Anne Frank lived a secret life with her family. She had to hide from the Nazis and she wrote her experiences in a diary. This is written for ages 4-8, however I would recommend it for ages 6-8. This story has more complex sentence structure, information boxes an alphabetical glossary and a comprehensive index.

When Otto gave Anne a red and light-green checked notebook with a metal lock, she never imagined the impact she would have on the world by writing her thoughts down. This is in a story format with snippets from the actual diary.

There is a picture of the place Anne hid and a picture of Anne Frank. This book just brings her story to life for young children. When people think of Anne, they think of her courage, her sense of humor and her hopes for the future.

The actual diary was first published in America in 1952 as Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Anne dreamed of becoming one of the most famous authors in the world. I just wish she had lived to realize her dream.

For me, Anne Frank is symbolic of everything that is right about life and everything that is wrong about war. Thankfully Miep Gies kept Anne's diary which sadly, she had hoped to return to Anne. I think this book will help younger children gain a new appreciation for the lives they have and realize that not all children were as lucky to live the life they live.

Inspirational and sad, all at the same time. I have also reviewed the movie called: The Diary of Anne Frank (1959) which shows the beauty of the her spirit in the midst of an evil and ugly war.

Wartime experiences as a Confederate Army surgeon
Doctor To The Front: The Recollections Of Confederate Surgeon Thomas Fanning Wood 1861-1865 is the latest addition to the University of Tennessee Press Voices of the Civil War Series and an outstanding contribution to Civil War studies. Military doctors labored through the smoke of battle where impossible conditions and fear of infection compelled them to resort to amputation -- an operation most often performed without painkillers. Thomas Wood's account of his wartime experiences as a Confederate Army surgeon and his recollections of those events provide the reader with a vividly narrated "window in time" to those harrowing days. Very highly recommended for personal, professional, and academic Civil War reading lists and reference collections, Doctor To The Front combines historically significant information with human interest accounts to reveal still another horrific facet of the civil war.

"A Doctor's Prescription for Life" by Frank A. Pedreira
First, I must explain that I have not read Dr. Pedreira's book...YET! I am writing this "review" because I can't wait to order and read his book! And, I am certain that it does deserve Amazon.com's 5-Star rating! Dr. Pedreira was my husband's pediatrician, and he is now our four children's pediatrician! He is, by far, one of the most knowledgeable doctors that I have ever met. Not only is he a "fountain of knowledge", he is also one of the kindest people I have ever met! Dr. Pedreira's strong family values and religious beliefs are very valuable in our "modern society", where morals seem to be waning. I consider myself lucky to know Dr. Pedreira. Not only is he the kind of pediatrician that every parent would want for their children; he is also the kind of man that every child would want for his or her grandfather! Congratulations and Thank You Dr. Pedreira! Sincerely, Lisa O'Connell

"Valley of the Dolls" Hospital Style
This is a dynamite blockbuster book awaiting rediscovery! The lives of 5 Doctor's Wives are shattered when one of their friends is murdered in cold blood. Her husband caught her in bed with another man, only identified as another doctor, and he shot them both. The women struggle with the news, because the injured man is one of their husbands. Everyone knew Lorrie was the town tramp, but they never suspected the horrible things that would come to light after her death. This novel combines nymphomania, alcoholism, drug addiction, adultry, voyeurism, a little boy dying of a brain injury who can only be saved by the killer doctor who uses the surgery as a chance to escape, irritable bowel syndrome, and lesbianism to keep the pages turning. Read two chapters and call me in the morning!

A revelation.
Yes, this book was a revelation to me. I am a writer wannabe, a pretender to the mantel of nonfiction writing. While I was searching blindly through the literature to find myself, my voice, perhaps an inspiration, I heard Frank Conroy interviewed on Michael Feldman's radio program on NPR. Conroy was talking about this very book. I was intrigued, I was interested. I went out, I bought the book. I read, and I learned, in the most pleasurable way possible. I was in the hands of a good writer, one that is able to carry me through his narrative and make his point with clarity and humor.

I learned about jazz, about music in general. I learned about the Iowas Writers Workshop, what they are trying to do and how they are trying to do it. It was, alas, a short book, but it made me a more knowledgable person. It made me appreciate life. It made me excited about things I never thought I would be interested in, and I am excited about writing. What more can you ask for from a book?
