Good
It was pretty good alright but I liked the Construction book better. I guess I just didn't really get all the technical juxtaposing going on.

"Some small woodblock prints"
An outstanding catalogue of a significant collection overlooked by the earlier specialists who catalogued the Wright collection (and labeled the box containing them "small woodblock prints). Ms. Mirviss brings her vast knowledge and expertise as well as her unfailing artistic eye to this often confusing genre. Stunning illustrations of previously unpublished or rarely seen works enhance the richness and pleasure of this catalogue and complement the text.

Wright is an Architectual Genius.
In this book, Wright expounds upon his innovative and groundbreaking ideas about architecture - specifically, that architecture should be organic in nature. Spanning his entire career, including blueprints and sketches for buildings never constructed, In the Realm of Ideas give anyone with even a passing interest in architecture the grounds to understand the architectural revolution that occurred in the early part of the 20th century. Wright was an integral part of that revolution; he stood at the center. In the Realm of Ideas provides his thoughts and reflections on the nature of architecture, something we all should consider in today's world of chrome and glass buildings that jab at the sky and crowd the center of our cities.

THE definitive work on Wright's Furniutre!
Frank Lloyd Wright began designing furniture over 100 years ago and yet this is the only comprehensive book on his 75 years of work. The book offers contemporary and historical views of many Wright interiors featuring the furniture in the original context for the most part. Much of this furniture has now been removed from the houses. Several of these pieces are on view in museums but much of it went into private collections. The range of views of the furniture is unique to the kind of book that Heinz has become well-known for. He finds views that can show features and arrangements of parts that other photographers seem to be blind to. When Heinz includes more than one example of a chair, either by using two chairs of the same design but faced front and side, or by including several designs [as in the Dana House] or with the designs of others [with Mackintosh, Stickley and the Greene brothers] they tell more than any text or caption could. The large page format is also helpful in showing the detail of each example. The types of wood and grain directions as well as finishes and textures assists in the analysis of the work. Heinz even goes outside the title definition of the book and includes associated examples of Wright's work as the chapter on rugs and textiles shows well. This may be the only concentration of Wright's textile designs. This is refreshing, to see the originals. in light of the "interpretations" that are now in the marketplace confusing the issue and the real genius of Wright's work. Interiors and Furniutre is a great companion book to Heinz's Glass Art which was issued at the same time and by the same publisher as this volume. This will be the definitive work for many years to come.

Beautiful, but not a pinup calendar
This is a wonderful "book" with beautiful water color illustrations of Frank Lloyd Wright's Designs. The reason I'm writing this review is that though a great book, it was not what I have expected to buy. I was looking for a paperback 12-month pinup calendar, the kind that you could hang on walls. This item is a calendar "book" with the monthly calendar in the pages. While it still may be useful, it was not what I have anticipated. I do not quite recall whether it was me who misread the item description or it was not described properly by Amazon. Anyhow, I'm sure you will enjoy this very good "book" (high quality paper, print, illustrations...), but do realize (hopefully soon enough, unlike me) that this is not a pinup calendar. :-)

Hearth and home
"Frank Lloyd Wright's Fireplaces," by Carla Lind, explores one particular facet of the work of this great architect. This book is part of a series of "mini-books" devoted to Wright. But despite the book's small scale (5.25 by 5.25 inches, 57 pages), Lind has packed in a wealth of words and images.

The book contains Lind's insightful text, as well as a wealth of illuminating sidebar quotes from Wright and others. There are many detailed, full-color photographs of stunning fireplaces. There is even a delightful historic black-and-white photo of Wright himself playing the piano near one of his fireplaces.

Houses represented in the book include the Hollyhock house, the Hanna house, Fallingwater, and many others. Each fireplace is a beautiful work of art which seems like an organic, integral part of the home. This book will surely delight fans of Wright, and of home design in general.

The artistry of Frank Lloyd Wright
"Frank Lloyd Wright's Furnishings," by Carla Lind, is one in an excellent series of "mini-books" about the work of this great architect. This volume is devoted to the various items that went inside the houses designed by Wright. The book reveals Wright to be not only a skilled architect, but also a master of interior design.

This book contains many of the praiseworthy features of other volumes in the series: a concise text by Lind, a treasury of wonderful full-color photographs, and an interesting series of sidebar quotes from Wright and others. The book covers many topics: bedroom furniture, dining room chairs, office furniture, lighting fixtures, cut stone decorative panels, and more. Lind also makes mention of some of the craftspeople who collaborated with Wright on these furnishings. Overall, this little book is a fine tribute to the work of an architectural visionary.
