If I could give this book six stars, I would!
As a worshiper of all things Dune related, I must say that THE ILLUSTRATED DUNE is one of the best versions of Frank Herbert's DUNE that I have yet incountered.

What makes this book unique in comparison to the many other DUNE books and reprints available, is that this book has many wonderful illustrations. The book offers both color and black and white visuals, which are marvelously adapted to the novel.

Also, there is full glossary in the back of the book. Terms such as "Muad'dib" and "Landsraad" are other such words are diligently defined.

This trade paperback is a credit to the DUNE series.

Illustrated Mercedes-Benz Buyer's Guide (Illustrated Buyer's Guide)
Published in Paperback by Motorbooks International (May, 1994)
Authors: Frank Barrett and Lee Gohlike
Amazon base price: $17.95
Used price: $9.00
Average review score:

This is a must read for anyone considering a used Mercedes!
Barrett does a great job of introducing Mercedes-Benz automobiles to the unfamiliar. He chronologically presents models from 1886 with emphasis on models from 1960 to present. Chapters include pictures, text and performance data for each model. Barrett also provides important tips on what to look for and avoid with regard to specific models. Anyone considering purchase of a used Mercedes, or with an interest in past models, would be well served by Barrett's authoritative presentation.

Imagine Jesus--
Published in Paperback by Liguori Publications (August, 1996)
Author: Frank Andersen
Amazon base price: $6.95
Average review score:

Imagine Jesus
Imagine Jesus is a wonderful journey into imaginative prayer through the use of the Scriptures. Anderson uses brief pericopies to open each chapter and then explodes the text into some wonderfully new and fresh visions of Jesus, his world and his life.

Anderson's insights are fresh and engage the reader experientially not only by looking at Jesus and his life through a new lense but by breaking open the concept of Jesus' human heart.

This book is written simply and beautifully. The chapters are short but spiritually packed. Each chapter is a window into the heart of Jesus by interweaving the sacred Scripture with new questions that break open the humanity of a compassionate Jesus who continues "to grow in wisdom and grace."

I hightly recommend this book for anyone who is looking to understand who Jesus was or anyone who would like to expand his/her relationship with Jesus. It is an excellent spiritual companion or preaching resource for new insights. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

In and Out: A Don Packham and Frank Mitchell Mystery (Five Star First Edition Mystery Series)

Author: Mat Coward

Characters make this story simply wonderful
Mat Coward knows his cultural and has that rare talent of being able to reveal it to the reader better than anyone writing police prcedurals in England today. He knows the area beyond London -- the pubs, the darts players, the relationships between people who are and are not related. And his two colorful protagonists, the experienced DI, Don Packham and his junior Frank Mitchell, newly promoted (from the first in the series, Up and Down) to detective constable, are pretty much opposites. Packham loves drink, cigars and turning off the workday early. Mitchell, still learning how to interview sources and suspects, is concerned with the work ethic and with his marriage and new baby. But it's the characters the two cops must deal with that makes this procedural absolutely riviting. You'll be guessing all the way through, because this writer is also a master of slipping in red herrings. By the end you will have all you need, as do the two investigators, and you may well finally guess right. I didn't, but I was paying so much attention to what Brits are like today that I forgot to focus on whodunnit. This is one of the three best novels I've read during the past half year.

In Bitter Tempest: The Biography of Admiral Frank Jack Fletcher
Published in Hardcover by Iowa State University Press (January, 1994)
Author: Stephen D. Regan
Amazon base price: $44.99
Average review score:

In Bitter Tempest
The author, Stephen Regan, has done an excellent job of summing the book. Admiral Frank Jack Fletcher is a an integral figure in the Pacific War, WW II and has received much harsh criticism, relegating him to the category of mediocrity at best. Other authors have not investigated the facts as has Mr. Regan. In my opinion, This book is essential to those studying the naval war with Japan. The book explains much beyond just the admiral's personal situation, too, including naval politics of the day, an essential element of the picture.

Macabre Poetry At Its Best
This small collection of FBL's poetry is simply beautiful. He has the ability to evoke images and moods in a way that is virtually extinct in 20th century writers.
