Book title is misleading
This book has a relatively small section on speed-reading, which I find strange considering the book's title. It's a great book -- for taking notes and reading for classes -- but not for speed reading. The title should be changed since there's not much emphasis on speed reading.

very little benefit for speed reading
dealt mostly with how to take notes

The Terminator: Death Valley

the other reviewer was right
I didn't like this series either. I didn't think the art or story was at the level of Dark Horse's previous terminator titles.

well...
this sucked. I'm a huge terminator fan but my god, this series was awful, the art was bad, the story was stupid. Seriously who care about all these other people. Where is John and Sarah?

Unlocking the Secrets of the Fed: How Monetary Policy Affects the Economy and Your Wealth-Creation Potential (The Frank J. Fabozzi Series)

Author: David M. Jones

Waste of money!
Very elementary book and writing style. The author puts himself forward as an experienced Fed Watcher but his ideas and theories seem naive and elementary. You can learn more about the Fed by surfing the Fed's website. Author keeps repeating himself like he is senile or something!??? The author does not offer any insight one could not glean from reading Business week or the Wall Street Journal regularly.

Don't waste your money on this!

Save your money
This book accomplished none of its promises. It was repetitive and poorly written at best. If you are truly interested in learning how to be a Fed watcher, this book will not help you accomplish that goal. Do not waste your time with this book.

not accurate in the restaurant category
It seemed to happen all too frequently - restaurants listed were no longer in business or had moved to a different location. In one evening, four of the five restaurants I tried were closed, and in some cases, had been closed quite a while.

this was a big disappointment as most other Access guides have been great

Middle school evaluation
I was not impressed with this book. As I read through the book the first thing I noticed was the lack of creativity in the usuage of the word "said." On one page there were five lines of dialogue each with: said Frank or said Louey. As I was reading, the word "said" seemed too repetitive. As a middle school grade teacher I could use this book to teach that a variety of words makes the story less monotonous. It would be a challenge to see how many ways we could replace the word "said" and still mantain the story line. Also, the line, "Save me," said Frank. "Water's in my nose. I can't see.", caused some concern for me. What does water in the nose have to do with seeing. I am sure the author meant, "I have water in my nose and also, I can not see."
There are a lot of "great" books out there, and I didn't feel The Adventures of Louey and Frank was one of them.

Total waste of money
Neither beginners nor practitioners should ever buy this book, this is one of the books from a bunch of books that Fabozzi has edited on ABS and almost all of them are not worth looking into, it is neither a plesant reading nor mathematically adequate. This book like other Fabozzi's books on fixed income bypasses serious issues related to investment, risk and analysis.

Only worthwhile if you've never used a computer
I was extremely disappointed with this book. This book is aimed either at people who have never used a computer, or at first-graders. The fact that most first graders have already used computers and the Internet probably won't help matters.

Coming from the Associated Press (who publishes other worthwhile books), one would guess that this is a fairly detailed guidebook on how to cite online resources, use of the Internet in the modern reporting environment, and also key information on online copyright and publishing in the digital age. Not even close.

Instead, this book proceeds to explain what the Internet is. Then it delves into what the "www" means, why there's a "." or "dot" between that and what's known as a "domain". It continues in this vein for the entire book.

The chapters entitled "Searching the Web", "Spreadsheets" and "Databases" aren't focused on how these can be leveraged with online reporting, they're primers. "Searching the Web" explains the concept of a "search engine" and why and how anyone would use one (such as the concept of "keywords" and "search results"), and provides examples of valuable resources called "Google" and "AltaVista". The same for the Spreadsheet and Database chapters.

The only value this book has is that chapter one has an interesting summarization of the personal computer and internet industries in about six pages. It sheds absolutely no new light, but as a quick read, it can get you up to speed (browser wars explained in twenty-five words or less). Chapter 12, which deals with online copyright, also explains at a first-grade level what a copyright is, etc. There's about four interesting paragraphs on "fair use", and the rest is filler.

Bottom line - you're reading this online, so you have already mastered 10 out of the 12 chapters without ordering the book. The other two chapters can be skimmed in about 4 minutes, and mostly are common sense. Avoid.
