A Wealth Of Knowledge.
I bought this book mainly because my girlfriend loves it when I quote Shakespeare and I was running a bit dry on material. It has tons of quotes, even from some of his stories (read: not plays) and some of the plays you wouldn't necessarily percieve as being romantic i.e. Othello, King Henry et all.) It also has all of his sonnets. Great buy, but not for those uninterested in love (it's an inspiration thing)
The Romantist: An Imagined Life of Francis Marion Crawford

On the scene of the Romantist
This past summer I visited Sorrento for the first time. Aftr a morning walk and gawking at the poetic beauty of the place and the sapphire sea I found myself on the Francis Marion Crawford corso. An American name, who was this man that an avenue should be named after him? The concierge back at my hotel obliged my question: Crawford was an American novelist, the most popular at the turn of the century. He bought a villa on a bluff of the Sorrentine coast with a magnificent view of the bay and Vesuvius, and below a small fjord for mooring of his yacht. He lived sumptuously with a retinue of servants and a full crew to man his yacht.Every summer he sailed to an isolated 14th Century watchtower in the Gulf of Policastro where he wrote his novels alone except for the crew who were shipboard. The natives dubbed him the Prince of Sorrento,he was a handsome man and gifted. The concierge on his off hours showed me the Villa Crawford which is now a home for a teaching sisterhood.Crawford was a national and international celebrity and admired romantically by his women readers. He is buried in a lovely cemetery at SantAgnello di Sorrento. To come upon this novel about Crawford doubled my vacation pleasure. How surely the novelist Mr. Palescandolo has caught the elan of this writer and the beauty of his chosen abode.Like Hedwige, the heroine,I am eager to revisit the Villa Crawford.I am now reading one of Crawford's novel: To Leeward. I realize, while reading this novel, that Mr. Palescandolo has written a Crawfordian novel to celebrate Crawford himself. For me it was a stunning and elightful coincidence.

For the Love of Classic Stars
Ronald Colman was a very private individual despite being one of the biggest stars of his time. This book brings you behind the scenes and opens up the reader to the "secret" life of Ronald Colman. For any Ronald Colman fan, or classic movie fan, it is a must read.

hilarious spoof of travel books
Room Service is a collection of stories, or rather dispatches, from a feckless Australian travel writer to his long-suffering editor. A couple of stories don't quite work: they're more like language experiments. But when he's at his best, no one can beat Moorhouse's dry sense of humor. The dispatch from China, where our hero spends most of the time getting drunk and corrupting poor Communist officals, is one of the funniest stories I've ever read.

For anyone who loves Ruidoso, NM, this book is a must!
I grew up spending weekends and long vacations in the town of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and I thought I knew everything about the place. Then, one day I got my hands on a copy of this book and devoured it with absolute pleasure. Do you know the story of the haunted hotel that stood where Bonito Dam now stands? Do you know the speculations about the dissapearance of Albert Fall at White Sands? Did you ever wonder how the world's finest quarterhorse race came to Ruidoso Downs? Ever wondered what it was like to grow up in a cabin along the Rio Ruidoso? Can't get enough about Billy the Kid? If these questions intrigue you, you NEED this book!

A "must" for Oz fans
In The Rundelstone Of Oz, author Eloise McGraw demonstrates the kind of writing skills that have marked her as a three time Newbery honoree. The latest entry into the legendary fantasy world of Oz first created by L. Frank Baum, The Rundelstone Of Oz is a welcome addition that will become as classic an entertainment as any in the Oz series. Superbly illustrated by Eric Shanower in the "Oz Tradition", The Rundelstone Of Oz is a "must" for Oz fans, as well as a highly recommended acquisition for school and community library collections.

Engaging, candid, revealing, insightful novel.
Russia Upside Down is the story of the Kuladze family and their life in the Soviet Union from the social upheavals of the 1920s, through the terror of the 30s, and the horrors of World War II. We are shown the originally enthusiasm for Khrushcev turn to bitter disappointment as his economic policies failed and this smiling Khrushchev became one of the worst of the Soviet persecutors of the Christian church in Russian history. Then there is tumultuous revolving door of leadership during the Brezhnev, Anropov and other "old men" of the Party. Finally there is Mikhail Gorbachev whose new thinking rapidly became old thinking and the Soviet Union collapses, only do begin to emerge again as something to be feared. Russia Upside Down shows us a world where Christening a baby must be done in total secrecy, yet millions do it anyway. Frank Columbus has written an engaging, candid, revealing, insightful, and ultimate testament to the endurance of the human spirit in even the most chaotic and repressive political, economic, and social conditions.

Some really good insights
This book was very helpful to me. As a child of divorced parents, I never understood how my experiences as a small child could effect my ability to be intimate with others as an adult. Since I am a Christian and have admired the work of Minirth and Meier for years, I love how the authors weave the truth of Jesus' love for us and wanting us to feel safe with solid counseling advice. I know that this is a book I will refer to again and again as I contine to work through my "unsafe" experiences as a child.

Sailing: Impressions, Ideas, Deeds by Frank Papy
We have used the Cruising Guide to the Florida Keys many times, and we have enjoyed the information and colorful language. Most Cruising Guides are boring, but Papy makes it interesting. Now, with his new book, Sailing, Impressions, Ideas, Deeds we purchased it fits right along with the colorful language in combination with information and helpful ideas. It's rather sporadic and not in any certain order, but the content is terrific for power boaters, sailors, and any person who loves the water.
