A Unique Book
In the Executive MBA Program of the Wharton School, where I teach, we have instituted a new finance course on structured financial products and asset-backed securitizations, from the corporate treasurer's perspective. This book featuring issuer perspectives on securitization fits our course perfectly, and is popular among the executive MBA students. The authors are very knowledgable and are able to communicate well. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to delve into this relatively new area of finance.

Best book ever written
I never read a book about trains before. I never thought I would. But when I sat down with this book, I couldn't put it down. The writing is superb; the content matter keeps you on the edge of the seat, even though I was on a bus, and the historic pictures were so much fun because of their spontaneous, rather than, set-up feel. I recommend this book even if you never thought you'd want to pick up a book on trains and Frank Pettit. Actually, I'd recommend this book even if you can't read!

Great
This is no word for this book. It's touching, but still funny. The story teaches that the world is a better place with you than without you. Read this book when life isn't good, for it's very soothing. You will get a laugh too. This is a five star, two thumbs up book. That's why I highly recommend it!

MEMORIES OF THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN DEPRESSION
The name of the book is taken from a story where a small group of hungry, dispirited unemployed men travel to Melbourne to go to a union meeting. Sneaking a lift on a freight train they find that the only goods in their carriage is a large quantity of Nuttall's Mintoes (slogan: Its moments like these...). They eat as many as they can and also fill their pockets, hats etc with handfuls. Later in the story when they are arrested and made to turn out their pockets - well, you'll have to read it.
Set in the Great Depression of the 30s, this book of short stories tells of the Author's formative years in a small Australian town. As he finishes his schooling and starts to hang out with the local characters, a rich and darkly humurous sub-culture of those fighting to keep body and soul together is revealed. Containing many sad details of their lives, and many poignant moments, it still moves along with a gentle irony which both pleases and warms.

Author's Note
I traveled from Turkey to Greece, Italy, Monaco, and Spain on the Grand Princess. Every evening, I wrote a journal entry covering my impressions of the city or province that I had visited. Upon returning to the USA, my friends complimented me on the emails that I had sent to them from the ship. Well, I published the journal, and I hope that you will find it informative and entertaining. The probability is that you will laugh at least once, and gather some notion of the benefits and foils of International travel. If you plan on an overseas cruise, then you may wish to make this your primer. On the positive side, I am planning another trip to westeen Europe this new year. Ship Ahoy!

Preview of Japan's fall in the 1990s
This book was written in the 1980s*, while Japan was strong and it's future was bright. Most books in the West fell over themselves extolling the virtures of Japanese style capitalism. Anyone who disagreed was called a "revisionist". Frank Gibney was branded such because, while recognizing many of Japan's strong points, he dared point out that all that rigid, central planning might not work forever. Turns out he was right. Some of his references may be dated (unless the reissue has updated them) but the book is an excellent look at the Japan of the 1980s, and correctly predicts the problems to come. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to see how Japan got into the mess it fell into it's recession of the 1990s
*I know it says 1996 as publishing date, but I read it in the mid 1980s; maybe it's a reissue.

First rate piece of research
The Jasta War Chronology is a first rate piece of research, and such is nothing less than what one could expect from Norman Franks and his fellow contributors. If you are looking for a book to read cover to cover then this is not it. But valuable research it is. Simply put, it is a compilation of various raw records into a refined system which allows the reader to track the daily claims and losses of German fighter units in World War One. In essence, it fits as close to a primary source document as most can get regarding this topic, and the reader is able to follow nearly every German pilot's career. The additional explanitory notes are highly valuable, as they often show the name of the Allied flyers shot down, and their fate. One can use this material to cross-reference it to other lists and reports in order to fill in gaps regarding certain aspects of WW I aviation. Franks and his crew have certainly done their homework, and this is a "must" reference work for any serious student of WW I aviation.
