Real Review from a Real Seminary Student-Not Boring!
This commentary on the Gospel of Mark is not wordy. It is straight to the point and worth the effort of reading. I am a Seminary Student and I read a lot of commentaries and this one is fast, simple, and enjoyable. Walter Wessel explains in every day language how to properly interpret the Gospel of Mark. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

I Been Here Before I Lighted Out For The Territories
This volume of effervescence gives off more sparks than a campfire from "Roughing It". It also provides terrific context for a group of essays by Shelly Fisher Fishkin "Lighting Out for the Territories". For real fun read David Carkeet's modern recreation of Twain "I Been Here Before", a book Twain would have somehow wished to be included in his canon. Don't be surprised if someday Carkeet's book is included as a companion volume to the Oxford Mark Twain.

Eye of the Independent
She called herself one of the Independents. The world remembers her as the Impressionist who painted "The Boating Party," the choice for a first-class U.S. postage stamp and one of the most widely reproduced paintings. She was behind America's first purchase of Impressionist art: a Degas painting. In fact, friend and mentor Edgar Degas advised her on the farther window light and floor for "Little Girl in an Armchair" and praised "Girl Arranging her Hair," the Japanese woodblock print inspired "Bath," and "Mother and Boy."

The book's first plate, "The Bacchante," lets viewers know what MARY CASSATT: PAINTINGS AND PRINTS were all about: women communicating with others and hinting at states of mind behind beautifully lighted and shaded fabrics, such as "Woman with a Red Zinnia"; flesh, such as the swiftly scribbled modeling to "Mother, Young Daughter and Son"; and furnishings, such as the Opera House banquette and chandelier ovals taking up the ovals from the figure and reflected figure of her sister "Lydia Leaning on her Arms, Seated in a Loge." Art critic and historian Frank Getlein backs his well-written text with 72 well-chosen plates. His book and Griselda Pollock's MARY CASSATT: PAINTER OF MODERN WOMEN give the perfect examples for Michel Melot's THE IMPRESSIONIST PRINT, Paul Smith's IMPRESSIONISM, Gary Tinterow's ORIGINS OF IMPRESSIONISM, and Helene Barbara Weinberg et al's AMERICAN IMPRESSIONISM AND REALISM.

It's enjoyable to read
Richard Brightfield is nice enough to include not only the probably basic knowledge of aikido but also East Timor's desire for independence from Indonesia in the book.

It can broaden our minds by making us aware of the oppression in East Timor and learn about the aikido techniques.

This is a wonderful Choose Your Own Adventure book. It has great illustrations, and the best is probably the castle. Don't miss this one.

Very well developed!
It may sound wird that when I wrote about a book called Masterpieces of World Philosophy : Nearly 100 Classics of the World's Greatest Philosophers Analyzed and Explained by John Roth(Editor), Frank N. Magill(Editor) that one should use the phrase "very well developed"; however, as one starts to examine this work, i.e., Masterpieces of World Philosophy : Nearly 100 Classics of the World's Greatest Philosophers Analyzed and Explained by John Roth(Editor), Frank N. Magill(Editor)this becomes very apparent. The table of contents is very clear and easy to use. The introduction is adequate without being dry or lengthy. The entries are not in alphabetical order and thanks to the table of contents, which I praised earlier, this does in itself not become a major distraction. When he presents a work , he starts out with the title, author, type of work, first published and principle ideas advanced. Pertinent litterature is a section with books that examine the writer from a different perspective and last but not least; their is a list of additional readings that would benefit someone whom wanted more information on the author in question. Frank N. Magill, the editor of this excellent tool, had the foresight and good sense to include two well developed indexes; the first one is the title index whilst the second one is an author index. I would definetely reccomend this book to anyone who finds philosophy to be interesting or to a philosophy student that has a diffivult time grasping the sometimes arbitrary ideas presented by the authors.
