Good alternate view of FLW for a reader who is already famil
If you do not know much about FLW's life, this isn't the book for you. It assumes that you are familar with his life-story as it jumps back and forth and drops names of people out of sequence to his chronological life story. For the neophyte reader there may be too much verbal description of floor plans. Despite these "flaws" (which forced me to do some background research in his other bios) the book is insightful and revealling as it peels off the layers of masks (most built by FLW himself). The book has many, many, black & white photos of his buildings and furniture - most of which I have not seen in other books. This would be a good companion book for someone who has read FLW's autobiography or other bios. It is amazing he survived, professionally, in spite of his apparent self-destructive habits. I found myself comparing his life to Picasso's - perhaps genius cannot be contained in an conventional life .

A very good and up-to-date book for learning Maple.
This book is a good choice for engineers, scientists or students who need to learn Maple 7 in a short time. The first chapters are written as a hands-on tutorial, beginning with Maple's environment and basic commands and progressing step by step toward programming structures, document preparation and ample discussions of some higher math topics (such as differential equations, 2d and 3d graphics, linear algebra, vector calculus, complex analysis and statistics).
The last chapter contains overviews of many other packages (about group theory, number theory, combinatorics and a lot of other things), including the new packages found in release 7.
There is also a glossary, a bibliography and references to Maple sites in the web.
On the other hand, you should know that the author does not delve into Maple's inner workings. He does not explain in depth what a data structure is in Maple, or how expressions are evaluated. Well, most of us can live without that... but if you are planning to do lots of programming with Maple, or perhaps writing a new package, probably you'll need more information.

Enjoyable Cold War Spy Tale
It's 1958 and a drunken Chairmen Khrushchev has just quoted verbatum from the top secret minutes of the National Security Council to President Eisenhower. Thus ensues an operation to find the KGB mole. The search takes our hero, CIA agent Blackford Oakes, to Germany, past the iron curtain into East Berlin.

So, how does Blacky come to find his U-2 experiencing an unrecoverable flameout over the USSR? Will he leave Lubyanka prison alive?

The suspense is wonderfully woven in this tale of suave, hansome and daring Blackford Oakes. I hated to put this one down. The ending is cleaver and unmistakably Buckley. This is a fun read.

Washington Irving and Oklahoma
This book consists of a concise list and description of a variety of historic sites, markers and museums selected by the Oklahoma Historical Society as prime areas representative of the state's history. Full of side notes, this little book will be a welcome addition to the library of any dedicated Oklahomaphile.

A note that caught my attention (Harold Ross, the first editor of The New Yorker, once said that writers are very writer conscious) concerns Washington Irving. His trip to Oklahoma in 1932 is commemorated by two markers in the Sooner State. One marks his first campsite near old highway 66 in Arcadia. It was here that he hunted wild horses, and experience he recorded in his classic A TOUR ON THE PRAIRIES. The second marker is on US Highway 64, north of Bixby. The authors write, "Because of Irving's visit to the area, an attempt was made at the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention to call the Tulsa area "Irving" in his honor.

There's a handy map in the back of the book, clearly keyed, to help the reader locate quickly and easily points of interest.

The Deadly Thorn
Soon after Sally Oliver's husband Jimmy leaves for work she receives a 'phone call from a woman who claims to be Jimmy's third wife. Warned that Jimmy has murdered his first two wives, Sally is told she could suffer the same fate. Julia Evans occupies an office next to Sally's in the same company, and is surprised that she hasn't shown up for work, since she almost always arrives before Julia. But Tee, the receptionist, says there has been no word from her. Julie contacts Jimmy who is surprised to hear Sally is not at work. Julia and Jimmy race to the house to see if Sally is home. No Sally, and no trace of her. Julia returns to the offic where there still is no word from her. Finally, Julia thinks Sally might have left a message on Julia's answering machine at home. Sure enough, Sally's frantic voice comes on the line asking her not to tell Jimmy that she called. Her life is in danger. Thus starts a very exciting story of murder, deceit, disguises, forgery and raw brutality. Ms. LaPierre has written an edge-of-the-seat page-turner. The plot is so action filled and closely woven that to tell about any of it would ruin the flow of the story. Suffice it to say that if you like a lot of suspense, don't pass up reading THE DEADLY THORN, and follow three clever women fighting for their lives.

GREAT,GREAT BUY
I bought a copy of this book and I have to admit I'm not the best when it comes to maths but this book made the impossible easy. The detailed step-by-step process of explaining the sometimes monotonous maths theory was simply brilliant.Thats why this book is a great great buy.

Just the facts
If you are wanting to hit all the main ideas of matrices, this book is very helpful. A lot of the topics covered in the Matrix Operations book is covered in here. Personally, I would look here first. The chapters are broken down a bit more, so you can focus on what you want to work on.

The answers aren't printed in this one like other books. In the supplementary problems, some have answers and some have hints. This is a little bothersome because I can't check my work as I would like. It is, nonetheless, helpful.

Another good thing is that all key words are in bold to help you learn the terminology.

I would recommend this book to help your learning matrices for class.
