A Fun And Fast Read!
This little novel is well worth its price. Best read when curled up in bed at night! Brrr! Hundreds of grisly tales -- some merely a paragraph, some many pages long -- are contained in this book, giving quite a chilling survey of Edinburgh's past. There is one slight problem, though -- at least in the copy I have. The book is divided into two sections, "Sinister" and "Ghostly." It appears that the two sections got switched in the printing! The Sinister tales appear under the Ghostly heading and vice versa. But who cares, the stories are still great, especially the ones based on real-life occurences.

"Computer definitions that get you marks"
This, folks, is the reference book for my A Level Students.

A Level is the main exam route taking in the UK for entry into Universities.

The continual rapid development of computer technology means it is a nightmare trying to keep up with terminology and acronymns. This glossary has the defintions the examiners will accept. Very useful when different text books all have their own definitons.

The 4star rating rather than 5 is a reflection of the date of issue of this glossary. There must be another one on its way soon, we sure need it.

The Basic, Not So Boring Series is my classroom choice!
I am a fifth grade teacher always looking for creative and interesting material to use in my classroom. I find myself easily becoming bored with traditional materials which is why I chose not to use it. Just by chance, I came across the Grammar & Usage activities book that really caught my attention. It is easy to read and understand (not only for the teacher, but more importantly, for the student. Each activity is interesting, one that any 9-11 year old student would find fun, but it also teaches a very particular lesson. It covers Language Arts topics ranging from parts of speech to editing one's own work. I also have other books from this series; however, the one downfall I find is that it does not offer any suggestions on how to modify the activities for high /low end learners. I believe teachers (including myself) would appreciate such modifications considering the variety of students we now find in today's classrooms. All in all, I am glad I bought this book and can not wait to use it in my classroom!

A realistic review of a Death March & P.O.W. survivor.
This book is a brutally honest account of one man's horrifying experiences during his captivity at the hands of the Japanese during WW2. This book captures all the graphic details of torture and survival in some of the most degrading POW camps the world has ever seen. If you are a WW2 history buff do not fail to read this book.

A must have if you are going on the Blue Ridge Parkway
This is an excellent guide to help you plan a trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The book maps out everything you need to know about the road. Every overlook, campsite, and picnic area is included. There are even several sites mentioned that are not clearly marked by the National Parks Service. I used the book before I went on the trip and highlighted all the things that I thought would be interesting and used it as I went. The book is extremely helpful and much better then the newspapers and magazine guides that you can get for free on the parkway.

There were several problems with the book too. Even though it probably the most thorough guide of the Blue Ridge Parkway that I have seen it does not include a map of the road. Most of the pictures in book are very good, however they rarely match up with the information on the page. The last problem I had with the book was that the binding on the book became unglued and many of the pages are now falling out.

Overall this is the best guide on the Blue Ridge Parkway that I have seen. It was extremely helpful to me, and I highly recommend it!

an excellent introduction
This an excellent, concise volume that covers most of the major topics of transfusion medicine in the form of short, easily manageable chapters. It was especially helpful when consulting certain antibodies and differentials of abnormal values.
It seems like just the thing for a resident or a busy private practice pathologist who needs quick and easy-to-read answers.

Great inside look at the "Wiescamp horses".
Hank Wiescamp ultimately breed some of the greatest horses from four registeries - Quarter, Appalossa, Palomino, and Paint. "The Hank Wiescamp Story" allows the reader to understand how and why Hank made many breeding decisions to create the great "Wiescamp horse". After this book, you too will appreciate what Hank Wiescamp has done to create many of the modern breeds.

Hats off to Hank...... Highly recommend this book for all. Pictures, pedigrees and stories. However, 207 pages could not begin to touch the surface of the 70 years it took to create the "Wiescamp horse".
