Religious Propaganda
As explained in the author bio at the front of the book; Stranges is the President of the International Evangelism Crusades (a world-wide Christian Denomination). I personally feel he has used the UFO phenomena as a vehicle to promote his beliefs. I apologize to those who are strong believers but I have reviewed this book based on its lack of substantial truth or developed inquiry into the Valiant Thor story.

I like this book!!!!
I really love this book. This is a camp cult classic. This is where the concept of the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" came from, according to what I've heard. If there's any truth to this book or not, I find it fascinating and enjoyable to read, and I recommend it to anyone who's into the weird and unexplained.

Absoultely Ridiculous Guide for the Paranoid gOD-Worshipper
This book has to be THE most ridiculous book I've ever seen since the bIBLE. Singularly the dumbest collection of mumbo-jumbo about how any religion other than Christian is wrong, Satanic, atheistic, etc. Anyone reading this will either be:

A--Made less intelligent if they actually believe this bull
B--Have their unintelligent beliefs justified
or
C--Want to throw it out because of how stupid it is; that's what I did!

Do yourself a favor, do NOT ever get this book. If you do, make sure you have a room full of Realitists to read it to in a stand-up comedy fashion.

Example: "Yoga--A form of meditation that opens the mind to evil spirits." Give me a BREAK!

gOD, get a life.

very informative!
I have been going through many hard, difficult times and an ongoing depression that refused to leave. I was given this book to read by a Christian. I have been a Catholic all my life. As I read these pages I was mesmerized by what I was reading and knew it was all true. This book speaks common sense of all the things in our world that are paranormal and evil.

What the wha-hoozits?
This book is awful! No matter how many times I read through it I couldnt understand it. It kept jumping from one thing to the other and made utterly no sense. I used all 138 pages to wipe my butt! Eat that R. A. Montgomery!!

who knew the flower could be so deadly
The flower tattoo was a symbol of evil;when you read into action you want out of this gang of thugs almost immediately.
That's when the action really begins, there are myriad decisions that will be made, nothing is better than nailing the hoodlum gang members, there's a whole host of ways in taking them down.

Tantilizing Title, but not a Trophy Book
The book provides a good overview for someone beginning the sport. It offers limited insight for anyone who has experience. I was expecting more.

Trophy Stripers some of the time
This otherwise well written book seems to spend too much time with information incidental to fishing itself. It also is almost totally devoted to Surfcasting and Fly Fishing, which is fine if that is what you are into. I expected it to cover boat fishing as well- it didn't and made the book far less useful for my purposes. It certainly did not break any new ground in any area, but might be a good primer for someone begining his Striped Bass angling.

Amateurish at best
This author's research into the Poletown area of Detroit is completely misleading. It does not give an accurate account of the neighborhood during the GM "crisis", which displaced some businesses and a few long-time residents. Come on Serafino, the area was a ghetto long before GM moved in.

Good in depth history of this Polish-American community
This book is an easy read by very well researched. Many of the topic in this book are through the eyes of the author and others who were raised in this city. Though small in size the city of Hamtramck shows that hard work and deturmination can overcome many opsticles such as the depression, over crowding, and the closing of the city's main source of tax income (Dodge Main). If you are from Hamtramck or know someone that is, this book will teel all they ever wanted to know about the city's history and more.

This book is a real Loser.
Fran Tarkenton couldn't have made his fortune by following the advice in this book. This book fails to provide any insights into developing a successful business. Rather this books provides a few cute folksy stories about a good old boy (Fran Tarkenton). Don't waste your money. (This review relates to the audio version.)

The Missing Piece of the Puzzle
I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about buying and reading a book on business by one of my favorite sports figures. Boy am I glad I did! The information and insights presented by the author were a godsend to someone like me who does not have a successful mentor to show me the ropes. Fran Tarkenton explains in a most candid, clear and concise way, the little nuances that often confuse those of us who don't have much hands-on experience in running a business. Anybody trying to start a business, who does'nt read this book because it was written by an ex-football player should have his head examined..

Skip it!
This book reads too much like a college textbook. If you are doing a research paper for a psychology class, then this book is for you. I found this book's approach oftentimes so overly analytical that it felt impersonal. Also, many of the case studies were difficult to relate to. As a woman, I believe I need to find a book that is written by a FEMALE who knows full well the complexities of a woman's mind and can understand on a certain level. I'm looking for a book that offers me encouragement in a compassionate and meaningful way. This book just didn't do it for me, so I sent it back.

Concise and practical.
This book which falls into the self-help category is a well written book that is easy to read for most. While the required writing will be helpful to all, those who are well read in this area of anxiety and worry can benefit just from reading. The most helpful things are the case studies in which one can often see one's own life mirrored. Although the authors are Christians the material is not overtly spiritual or preachy and can be read by people of all faiths or no faith at all. I give it four stars for the authors ability to say plainly, without a lot of psychological jargon, what can truly be of help to others. I am purchasing this extra copy as a gift for a friend.

The Yanomami and Their Interpreters
Published in Hardcover by University Press of America (27 March, 1997)
Author: Frank A. Salamone
Amazon base price: $53.50
Used price: $47.69
Average review score:

Even Fierce People Need SpellCheck.
In 1993 Napoleon Chagnon--world-famous ethnographer of the Yanomami Indians--was forcibly
expelled from Venezuela. If you, Dear Reader, happen to be seeking an articulate explanation of
the events leading up to his deportation (as was I), you won't find it here. Frank Salamone, an
anthropologist and expert on missionary groups, sets out to resolve the dispute between Chagnon
and the missionaries who were in some way responsible for his deportation. Unfortunately, the book is a copyeditor's nightmare--crawling with errors in spelling, syntax, grammar and
punctuation, along with thousands of typographical mistakes which make it difficult to read and
sometimes incomprehensible (e.g."Chagnon...desires to behind this extraordinarily ugly discussion."). Most of the references cited aren't even included in the bibliography. Salamone himself is a pathetic writer, stumbling through a muddled summary of Yanomami ethnography and blurting out the lessons he learned during his ten-day visit to southern Venezuela. And in the end, the reader is left wondering what happened--the incidents that resulted in Chagnon's explusion are never revealed, and Salamone's final remarks are so tangled that you can only guess at what he's trying to say. The effect is that of a term paper written at 4 a.m. by a drunk and exhausted sophomore who doesn't know the difference between 'their' and 'there'. And although many Ph.D.'s probably don't--or don't care--the University Press of America should hire a proofreader who does.

anthropology student loves this book
Whoever the other guy that wrote a review of this book must be a drunken sophomore himself. I personally found this to be the most interesting book I read this year. Salamone is a fantastic author, and I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone interested in the Yanomami. If there are typos and such, that is not the fault of the author. Many of those errors occur at the publishers. A manuscript can come to the publisher in perfect condition, then get screwed up there. This is a great book by a well-established author and is well worth the price!
