Frank Lloyd wright Companion Book by Storer
I bought this book from Amazon.com based on the Star rating. I did not know if it was really valid. It is!

This book about Frank Lloyd Wright's designs give a conceptual overview to the evolution of his style. It is excellent for the novice, non architect (which I am). I have been able to visit three of his homes based on the directory in the back. It has also opened up other venues to help me arrive at a FLW inspired house that I am about to build. It is worth the cost if you are looking for the best single source of his work that I have been able to locate outside of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation

This is the right one for you.
This is an expensive book but you need only buy it once and you will have readable plans and details of more than 470 Wright buildings. I love his work and have several books about the great man but I find that plans in other books are sometimes unreadable because of the reduction to fit on the page. William Storrer has redrawn them all and taken nearly all the black and white photos. These are to Wright's specification: exterior shots to be in a natural context and include foliage, interiors should be taken with natural light and from a seated position and as Storrer says, this last condition excludes most contemporary color photography of his work. Also included is a ZIP code index of the buildings if you want to visit and see the outside, lucky Illinois and Wisconsin have the most.

Brillliant though this book is I really wanted to see Wright's work in color and I can recommend 'The Vision of Frank Lloyd Wright' by Thomas A Heinz, an inexpensive 448 page book with a color photo of every building.

Both authors are experts on Wright and if you have these two books (and a table to support their weight) you will hardly need to buy any other books on America's greatest architect, then again I liked Doreen Ehrlich's 'Frank Lloyd Wright Glass' and Carla Lind's 'The Wright Style: the interiors of Frank Lloyd Wright' and......!

An indispensable book for anyone serious about FLW.
This book is indispensable for anyone serious about Wright or american or modern architecture. It contains detailed plans of every known work, and insightful commentary. If one could purchase only one book about Wright, to understand both the scope and detail of his whole work, this would be it.

Best source book of FLW art glass designs.
Thomas Heinz is extremely well credentialed and has written the best source book on FLW art glass designs. Finest photography available of a myriad of FLW projects incorporating art glass windows in sequential sequence. This book is the finest book on FLW works in glass. Mandatory read for any design sourcing for art glass projects. You will not find a more authoritarian reference book on art glass designs by FLW.

Simply put, the premier book on Frank Lloyd Wright Art Glass
I just dropped by amazon.com to check on the availabilty of the Heinz book for a potential client. As the owner of a world class art glass studio specializing in FLW "inspired" designs, Studio Deco, I have had the opportunity to review countless books on the subject. In my opinion this is the finest book presently available.

An extensive visual tour of FLW's genious in glass art
Tomas Heinz, a practicing architect and skilled photographer has written several books on the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. In this volume, Heinz provides a thorough examination of Wright's glass art designs. The beauty and power of the designs are faithfully captured in nearly 400 illustrations, most of them in color. The first four chapters cover Wright's architectural glass designs from 1889 to 1936. Chapter Two is entirely devoted to the Dana house, which contains the largest and most extensive collection of art glass designs by Wright. Chapter Five covers Wright's use of light screens later in his career, and Chapter Six gives a brief overview of other decorative features which Wright incorporated into many of his architectural designs. A thoroughly annotated bibliography provides an execllent source for further study. This book is highly recommended for the insight it offers, its visual aesthetic appeal, and as a source of information and inspiration to stained glass artists.

A great book
I am not a huge fanatic of Frank Lloyd Wright's but when i saw this book on a bookstore table i hat to buy it i accully got this book at B. Dalton's it was only 4 dollars so i could not pass that up but it is worth the money to buy it here.

A book on Wright, but featuring interiors! Great!
I love Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture. This book is unusual in that it features a lot about the interiors as well as the exteriors of some of his houses. There are photos of some of the most gorgeous rooms (dining rooms, kitchens) and also some nice layouts featuring decorative items like lamps and stained glass windows.

If you are interested in Mission-style decorating, which is in vogue at the moment, you will find this a valuable resource. I love every page in this book.

A wonderful look at all aspects of the Wright Design
As a 13 year old Wright fanatic, i have read books all about different aspects of the Frank Lloyd Wright Design. One book for furniture, one for the house design, one for the glass, one for the Usonian concept. Upon opening this book I didn't expect to find anything different. Concentration in one area. What I actually received was a complete look at the Wright design. Instead of buying seperate books, I could find out all about Wright aspects in this one book! This book is a must have for any fan of Frank Lloyd Wright!

AMBITIOUS MUSICIANS -- Want a Challenge? HERE IT IS.
If you can play all the music transcribed in this book, you can also be the envy of your music professors. Zappa's mastery of irregular rhythmic groupings, sets him well above not only any other guitarist I know, but also above the VAST majority of percussionists( who SPECIALISE in rhythm .) I divide my time with these scores between trying to play passages, tapping out the rhythm of passages, and marvelling at the uniqueness of Frank's guitar playing. Even if you can't play unusually intricate/complex rhythms, THE FRANK ZAPPA GUITAR BOOK is great for keeping any of your more musically skilled friend's egos in check.
PostScript- Steve Vai deserves a special GRAMMY for transcribing this material.

great find!
It was my husbands birhtday and I wanted to find him something that he could enjoy for a very long time. well I found this book. He loved it! It gives you insight into Frank Zappa's mind. But it is all done through his music. Anyone who buys this book will not be disapointed! So enjoy it!!

If you like FZ's music, you enjoy it for years!
Lots of Frank's guitar solos! Really hard to read and even harder to play! Steve Vai transcribed FZ's solos and you poor buddy are sitting at home and try and try and try to play his songs. If you study the notes carefully and you like FZ's music you are entertained and challenged for years. But anyways I like it. (Excuse my English!)

Fraztastic
A must for any Frazetta or fantasy art fan. This book is a prime example of Franks amazing abilitiy to take the viewer into a world of raw fantasy. The themes and compositions are second to none and illustrated in a dynamic creative conciousness only Frazetta could deliver.

Beautiful, gentle work
There are no flaming dragons, muscled warriors or death-dealing creatures in this book. Only pleasant watercolour paintings of people and gnomes and elves enjoying themselves unselfconsciously.

A must have for any Frazetta fan!
Frank Frazetta is hands down the greatest and most influential painter in the realm of fantast art. This collection contains a fresher softer side of Franks work in a friendlier setting than we are used to seeing. It is a beautiful book and another great acomplishment by the Grand Master!

When my attaché case was stolen, Mari Frank came to my rescue. With her advice, those telephone calls and letters established firewalls at my bank, with credit card companies, with the credit reporting agencies, etc. She saved my identity, credit rating, reputation, and "life." This fascinating book is highly recommended. Dan Poynter, author The Self-Publishing Manual

A treat for Yosemite and "Farley" fans alike!
As a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Chronicle in general and "Farley" in particular (as well as a total Yosemite freak!), each summer I look forward to the inevitable installments involving Phil Frank's bear trio (proprietors of "The Fog City Dumpster" restaurant in SF) and neatnik camper Mrs. Melmac (who immediately sets off bug bombs in the area around her massive RV when she arrives for the summer) in Yosemite Valley. So you can imagine my delight when I found that all those terrific strips were put in one magnificent collection!

Every summer the bears and Mrs. Melmac take off for Yosemite - Mrs. Melmac in her RV, the bears whichever way they can (one year they hijacked a SF Muni bus) and the fun begins! It's great to be able to relive these moments over and over. Two thumbs up!

Thank you, Mr. Frank!
Thank you, Mr. Frank! This book helped keep me going thorough a very busy and complicated week. And it will help me again. Very funny -- and like the best humor, based on fact.

An extremely funny look at Yosemite and it's people.
I've travelled cross country six times in the last ten years to visit Yosemite. I laughed till my sides hurt reading this book. I really enjoyed the Bear Clan poking fun at the park Vistors "Your Space? I was born here, you smarmy little yuppie!"

Superlative Reference Tome about George Washington
Frank Grizzard has created the definitive biographical reference about George Washington that manages to grip the reader's attention from start to finish. Grizzard breaks the dry, disjointed bonds of the A to Z format by constructing a vivid portal through time in which the man, the players in his world, and the events of his age are brought to life in vivid, fascinating detail. George Washington: A Biographical Companion is accessible, compelling reading for most ages, and _the_ place to start before delving into the Washington biographies and collections of letters.

A Much-Needed, Invaluable Research Tool on George Washington
Frank Grizzard, associate editor of the Washington Papers, has written an invaluable research tool and a much-needed, single source of reliable information on the life and times of George Washington. The book contains about 200 informative essays on a variety of diverse topics related to Washington. Each essay is interesting, concisely written, and is chock full of information on the subject. In addition to being an outstanding reference book, it is also a great "read," and the browser will come away with a new appreciation for the character and achievements of the Father of Our Country. Highly recommend.

Presents a careful assessment of facts and history
Painstakingly compiled by Frank E. Grizzard, Jr. (Senior Associate Editor at the Papers of George Washington Editorial Project at the University of Virginia) George Washington: A Biographical Companion is a seminal and comprehensive reference. Written as a detailed supplement to straightforward biographies of America's first President, this impressive compendium contains numerous entries arranged in alphabetical order of the people places, and things that were important in Washington's life and times. Each entry presents a careful assessment of facts and history, and how they related to George Washington himself. George Washington: A Biographical Companion is first-rate, strongly recommended supplement to academic and community library American History reference collections.

PANZERS IN COLOR
I've read many books about the panzers in WWII. They have many useful information inside them. But they all had old black&white photos and some of them were really bad. But this book is great. It doesn't have so many information, the written things are known by many WWII fans. But what makes this book a 5 star treasure is the pictures. Who doesn't want to see Tigers, Panthers, King Tigers, Jagdpanthers and many more in colorful high quality pictures. The photos are taken from museums and collectors all around the world. When you are looking at the pictures you'll feel the real power of the Panther's 75mm gun and smell its gasoline and hear the roaring engine.

Gem of a Book
German Tanks of World War II in Color is not an exhaustive study nor does it try to be. However, weighing in at only 96 pages, it contains a surprising amount of information. The book is organized into four chapters: light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks and support vehicles. All of the main panzers and armored fighting vehicles are discussed as well as their variants. The text is readable and informative. Text boxes add depth to the book by discussing tank anatomy, panzer division anatomy, weapon definitions, and color schemes. What truly makes this book unique are the color photographs of restored vehicles from museums and private collections around the world. The photo on the front cover is indicative of the eye-candy that awaits you inside. Recommended!

A great value.
This book packs a lot of information into its 96 pages. It's possible to find books on German Armor that have more detail, but not at this price. Brief but useful development histories are complemented by scores of high quality color photographs. Each of the Panzer series (I through VI) is featured, including most of the important variants (Tank destroyers and self-propelled artillery pieces). There is even a chapter on amored cars, halftracks, and reconnaissance vehicles. The text is good, but it is the photographs that set this book apart. Vintage snaps are coupled with shots of restored vehicles from museums and private collections around the world. I would recommend this book to modelers and history buffs alike.

A view from both sides!
This book starts off with a great and fair introduction to the two stories that are to be told by William Oates of the Confederacy and Frank Haskell of the Union. Written by Glenn LaFantasie the lengthy introduction writes about both Civil War authors Oates and Haskell. He is careful in explaining that each man's history, background and present situation which may have had an effect on their writing. After the introduction William Oates of the 15th Alabama structures his story first by giving an historical view of the army movments north and south as a prelude to the battle of Gettysburg. His writing of such a history could probably have been eliminated while his story of marching to Gettysburg and his role in the battle should have taken precedent. Oates offers his controversial view of the battle which is interesting in many ways. Not only does he tell his story but he tells it painted his way. Being a reader of many Gettysburg related books, it is easy to find fault with some of Oates' story. Though this is what makes this book interesting. We need to know what Oates considered and thought was how things went instead of guessing. We need something to stand on and his story though it may not be accurate is very descriptive and essential for understanding the battle.

While Oates offered his view of the 15th Alabama's fight to take Little Round Top, a great story is to follow written by Frank Haskell. Unfortunately, Haskell tends to waste the immediate structure of the battle like Oates had earlier. He tells the readers where such a corps was placed, who was advancing, etc. This boring non-relating story he tells doesn't tell about him or his action in the battle. After this quick and non essential tale of the battle of Gettysburg, Haskell finally gets to his involvement in the fight. This is where Haskell gets interesting. He is very fair on his descriptions and how he associates with other Generals during the conflict. His tale of Pickett's Charge and the carnage is excellent. I really liked Haskell's discipline in not reacting to telling about a battle on the field that he didn't take part in or had not witnessed. His graphic tale of Pickett's charge and the movements covered certainly placed myself right along with him on the field. He builds up Day #3 of Gettysburg very well and comes to a complete end to his story without dragging the reader.

For the novice reader of the battle of Gettysburg, I wouldn't recommend this book as it is not generalized enough to understand without reading more of the basic battles of the three day saga. For the advanced reader looking for more historical insight written by two soldiers that were actually there, this is an excellent book and I recommend it completely.

A great book written by soldiers who fought in the battle
Gettysburg is a well written book by two soldiers who fought in the battle. COL William C. Oates fought for the Confederate side and LT Frank A. Haskell fought for the Union side. Each soldier captured his side of the battle in great detail. The stories are well written and easy to read. It is very interesting to read about the different viewpoints of the battle. COL Oates gives a great analysis of why the Confederates lost the battle and how they could have won it. I highly recommend this book for all fans of the Battle of Gettysburg.

A remarkably objective and detailed report from a union view
In order to fully appreciate this minute by minute account you should first see the movie"gettysburg" and visit the national park. The detail of how the soldiers were placed comes to life and even more amazing is the recounting of how the soldiers felt, what they were thinking and the general's strategies in leading their men. I highly recommend the audio tapes of this book.... If you've been there, if you've studied the battle, you will be completely mesmerized!!!
