therapeutic participation
Occasionally, you read a professional book that makes so much sense that you say to yourself,"yes, yes","that's right", "oh,that's how it is!"..Frank's PSYCHOANALYTIC PARTICIPATION is that kind of a book. The author shows both theoretically and clinically the way in which the clinician can be in a room with a patient that is most constructive for the patient and rewarding for both people. Frank eloquently discusses the current egalitarian psychoanalytic thinking and seamlessly describes the historical progression of psychoanalysis from orthodoxy to the current relational models.

extremely useful training manual
This book is a very useful manual that helps you to install the unevitable treating contract with bordeline patients which is a necessary frame. The manual provides you with clear instructions on how to set priorities when it comes to troubles (acting-out). And it helps you to develop the feeling when to interprete in terms of transference. Analysts who are used to wait very long until they react actively may be irritated; but no psychotherapist involved in the toil's work with severe borderline conditions can afford to ignore this modern, lively and considerate point of application. This work is the psychoanalytic counterpart, and challenge to Marsha Linehan's famous behavioristic studies on treating the self-destructive and acting-out borderline patient.

A superbly presented biography of an influential American
Frank Brady's The Publisher is the life story of Paul Block who was a newspaper mogul, advertising executive, and political apologist. The core of this comprehensive and meticulous biography is Block's involvement in the history of newspaper publishing and national advertising -- and his influence on the politics of his day which spanned the Gay Nineties, the Jazz age, and the years of the Great Depression. Biographer Frank Brady places Bock within the vivid and dramatic settings of his time as he re-creates the story of Block as a friend, advisor, or opponent of such men as Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Alfred E. Smith, Jimmy Walker, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Here also is the personal side of Paul Block's childhood as the son of an immigrant ragpicker who eventually came to live in an opulent suite at the Waldorf Towers and a mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut. The Publisher is a superbly presented biography of an influential American who lived through "interesting times".

A must of hockey lovers!
Puck is a Four Letter Word is an intriguing look into the hockey world, through the eyes of a star National Hockey Leauge player traded to an expansion team. The fictional character, Willie Mulligan, deals with all the problems of a star...love, loss life on the road.
Frank Orr creates a realistic character and uses humor to talk about the problems of professional sports. At the same time, Mulligan is a lovable character, just like your favorite hockey player. It is amazing how Orr portrays the problems of free agency and super-star status long before they began as big an issue as they are today. It was hard to put this book down. Anyone who loves reading and hockey must get this book!

Be a Kid Again
Remember all the fun things we (those of us over 30) did as kids? The fun, the long summer days that seemed to wind on forever? We created such wonderful games out of nothing and made mud pies. This book brings that excitement to life again and gives ideas for activities and crafts for kids today. Excellent place to start when planning.

Pumpkin Patch Cats
I teach second grade, and my kids loved it. The pictures are wonderful! The kids, and I loved Frank Fiorello's illustrations of the cats all decked out for the Halloween Parade. The story was also very cute.

An academic study of the failure of anticorruption efforts
This is an excellent book. Its academic / sociological approach may put off some lay readers, but that would be too bad. The subject, and the message, are both very important. In many ways, this book is similar to "The Appearance of Impropriety: How the Ethics Wars Have Undermined American Government, Business and Society," but although this book is somewhat less accessible to general readers it is certainly stronger from a social-science standpoint. An excellent book, well worth reading for anyone interested in why repeated efforts to stamp out political corruption have borne such mixed (at best) results.
