Engaging characters, engrossing plot
This well-written novel features a likeable and very real hero in Neil Paget, plus some of the usual go-by-the-book English police detectives who prove to be not all that bound by the rules when the situation dictates otherwise. Paget rises from his sickbed to track down his attackers and finds that they still have him in their sights and that a large part of his job involves protecting his friends and himself from becoming their victims. The yarn keeps the reader engrossed to the end, as the plot is not resolved until the last several pages.

Love it!
Just found this author; he's geat; I am on waiting list at the library for his others/ Read it!!

pleasurable Paget police procedural
In Broadminster, the night is nasty and stormy as it has been in much of November. Newly assigned for training purposes as much as filling a vacancy, Constable Kathleen Regan asks her superior Detective Chief Inspector Neil Paget to help her traverse the muddy parking lot to her car. After seeing her off, Neil turns to his own vehicle only to have an unknown assailant slice his throat. The fortunate arrival of other police officers forces the culprit to flee before the job is completed and enables the rushing of Neil to the hospital where his life is saved.

Everyone is shocked by the assault in the lot adjacent to the police station. Superintendent Alcott leads the investigation that includes Detective Sergeant John Tregalles as the key on the ground participant. Unable to stay home to recuperate, Neil accompanies his loyal sergeant on interviews and vaguely recalls his attacker mumbling "That's for Jill", the name of Neil's dead wife.

The key to this latest pleasurable Paget police procedural is Neil's struggle to cope with his near death, his inability to let John take charge and his helplessness when his new love is endangered. The story line is exciting as John and Neil make inquiries seeking a link when other individuals have their throats slashed. Frank Smith makes this case personal as the audience gets deep inside the mind of the hero.

Different, but a must have!
The Art of being you came out just after the death of the talented Gianni Versace. I own all of his books which I highly recommend. Different in this installment are the images of modern art which Versace so incorporated into his work. Evident is the work of Julien Schnabel (broken plate painter) and Andy Warhol. The presence of photographer Richard Avedon's work makes the 100$Canadian worth it. If your into fashion especially Versace, check out Vanitas for Gianni's renderings. Nobody does it like Versace. Lets hope his sister continues the same tradition.

The best
This book shows the private art collection that the versace family have collected. Great book with great pictures.

Any coffee table w/o this should be green with envy!
In the world of Art books, This has got to be the best posthumous release ever. Abbeville Press has outdone themselves with this masterpiece. I own Mr. Versace's previous 5 books, Signatures, Vanitas, Do not disturb, Rock and Royalty and Men w/o ties which I highly recommend. In this edition, Versace shows us that until his untimely death, the wheels never stopped turning. With the help of Thierry Perez, Steven Meisel, Julian Schnabel and other fabulous artists, This book truly defines the artifice and uncompromising couturier called Gianni Versace.

Atlas of Urological Surgery 2nd Edition Frank Hinman Jnr
This is an excellant book with very useful diagramatic and grapic details of operations and good descriptions of both old and new procedures. Most chapters have been written by pioneers in the field and there is a lot of practical advice added to make the book a valuable addition to the library of urologists and trainees alike. I have no hesitation in recommending this book to be in the library of all urological institutions and practitioners alike. The book is also reasonably affordable.

Great urology atlas.
This is the best adult urology atlas. It covers most of the basic urologic procedures and a well put together way. If you do surgery on the GU tract, this is a must have book.

essential stuff
This volume is an essential guide to every surgeon who practices urology. Also great stuff for residents in urology. A must-have.

Barnyard Lullaby

A Perfect Bedtime story book.
My two year old loves Barnyard Lullaby but can not resist closing her eyes to sleep as I read the last two lines on every-other page: "Go to sleep, my sweetheart, Tomorrow is a brand-new day". When we are not reading this story at bedtime, she loves to name the animals and make each one's sound.

The perfect lullaby
My 2 1/2 year old loves this book and song. The music is printed at the end - and it puts her right to sleep nearly every time. She sings the song whenever she is putting her animals to bed, and it is a lovely story! The illustrations are great for this age - I wholly recommend it!

Great songs, story, and illustrations.
This is one of a few books that get the "again, again" rating from my 3 year old. He loves the song and story and of course the animals. If is running too long its easy to skip a couple of animals and get to the end w/o compromising the story.

Excellent practice for NYS Regents
This book is a valuable resource for help in studying for the NYS Bio regents. It gives very good explanations of answers and allows you to analyze your weak spots. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the actual review material is skimpy and not well defined, but they do have a separate "Let's Review" book that better aids with that.

Time to hit the books!
Many Regents I have thought that there might be no help for me and then someone told me that about these books. They really have saved my life, because they give so many past regents questions that you can get really familiar with what is going to be on the test. It is really a must for anyone who will be talking the regents and it is all you need to study from.

A Great Book for NYS High School Students
If your worried about the biology regents, or even if your not this book is a great and comprehensive reveiw of biology for the Regents exams. It included many practice tests that allow you to check your answers. It also includes many practice questions to help students fully prepare for the regents exam.

The book is good.
I've read better, but it had some action in it. I would make the book longer and more excyting. I really like adventure, but this book didn't havemuch of it. I rated this book with a 3. I don't like killing animals. The author could have changed the beginning when the mother bear gets shot. They could have trapped her for the zoo or something. My favorate part of the book is when they find their father and the plane is about to fall, because it is excyting. I also like the setting, because the mountains are cool. I'm glad the author chose to write about a plane crash instesd of a car crash or something. A plane crash is mare excyting andit would interest more readers. If you like adventure stories this is the one for you.

A story full of adventure and COURAGE!
This book Derserves an encore !!!! This book is a trubuite to american Lituare for Children NOTING and I mean NOTHING CAN TOP THIS WONDERFUL ALL TIME CLASSIC!

It is the best book for 5th graders interested in adventure.
Alaska is a very good adventure book. It describes the courage of two city kids who move to alaska where their father has an airplane accident. They, Shawn and Jessie, take it upon themselves to rescue their father whose life is hanging on by a thread.

Somewhat Interesting
Basically this book portrays a biography of a girl that lived in the World War. At first, I thought it was interesting to read about the situation of the Jewish people. Although, Ana Frank depicts every inch of what she sees in a very descriptive manner (considering the age that she had), I expected more contents in regards of the Hollocaust, what happened politically, the war. Ana Frank just described how she feels in all the book about the war. Well, I am not interested in that, although I do admire her because she was calm in despite of what was happening. Afterwards, I did not finish the book and I do not intend to finish it. Instead, I would use the time to read maybe a history book about an autobiography of somebody who lived in a concentration camp. (Maybe that happened after the half of the book, but anyhow)

Diario de Ana Frank by Anne Frank
Excellent book. I teach mostly Hispanic students. We read the English and Spanish version simultaneously. It really helped them understand. I always tell them it only takes one person to change the world, even a little 14 year old German girl. Now they understand.Well written, clearly translated.

Very well written
I thought that this book was very good. Ana (Anne) Frank expresses how she feels and copes with living in the "Secret Annex". It was amazing how she didnt't lose her mind from being stuck in a room all day and not being able to move or make a sound. She confesses every thing in this diary, and is trully a terrific, great book.

Art of Pencil Drawing (Collector's Series (Tustin, Calif.).)
Published in Hardcover by Walter Foster Pub (December, 1991)
Author: Gene Franks
Amazon base price: $27.20
Used price: $38.78

Stunning artwork, but not useful as a guide
That Gene Franks is an amazing artist is unquestionable, yet I wouldn't recommend this to the aspirant. It doesn't give much advice on actual techniques, there are no photos to work from, and the writing style is quite monotonous. Having said that, the pictures are a joy to look at, so this gets an extra star for this alone :D

Takes Pencil Drawing to a New Level...
If you really want to see how amazing pencil can look on paper when you have master it, get this book. Gene Franks creates all his own textures with just simple strokes and the drawings come off the page! I used to use a blender for most of my shading. Not any more! It will take alot of practice to be able to even come close to his style, but you will get so many amazed faces when people see what you can do with a simple pencil and a blank sheet of paper. I highly recommend it!

REALIZING THE GREAT POTENTIAL OF PENCIL
The book contains impressive drawings of Gene Franks in pencil. It offers a wide spectrum of drawing models for the reader-- from toys to cars, animals, portaits and landscapes. By mere study of his drawings, one gets a pretty good idea of the many ways varying pencil strokes maybe used to define the texture of a still life drawing. His drawings look like the real thing, except that they're in black and white. His notes and tips on how to render each drawing are also very helpful to the reader. This book is something you'll keep using for the rest of your drawing career.

false information
At first this book was extremely intriguing, but after attempting to comphrend with this book it was humanly impossible. You could read this book as much as a million times but it will not give you any ideas or info on how to shoot a basketball properly and other supremely important information. Choose wisely, this book is nonsense. I reccomend tom amberry's free throw book it gives you mainly all the secrets.

Fine Instructional Basketball Shooting Book!
Ted St. Martin of Jacksonville, Florida describes in his book the scientific analysis of the basic shots employed in basketball games. This manual provides many illustrations demonstrating the proper techniques for basketball shooting.
The book also provides a general descriptive history of the basketball shooting career of Ted. He has established numerous basketball exhibition shooting world records. He has traveled all around the United States for a long time performing basketball free throw shooting demonstrations. At various times in the past Ted has held world records for 24-hour marathon free throw shooting, five minute and ten minute free throw speed shooting, etc. Ted is the current Guinness world record holder for sinking 5,221 consecutive free throws and he has sunk a record 48 free throws in a one minute time span. These are mind boggling feats!
Of all basketall shots Ted St. Martin is most qualified to espouse upon the free throw shot. This book contains much informative information about the premises and principles of sinking this essential shot.
There has never been a greater basketball shooter in history than Ted St. Martin. The reader can profit greatly from his exquisitely unparalleled expertise.
I am a close friend of Ted St. Martin and have shot in contests against him and I have also performed an exhibition show with him. I make special appearances performing my own one-person basketball exhibition shooting shows. Even though I am similar to Ted St. Martin in the sense that I possess a very rare basketball shooting talent in basketball history, I have profited from Ted's analysis of my own shooting technique.

accurate, easy to understand
Anyone from a child to an adult can learn how to accurately shoot a free throw from this book. The visuals are very helpful, lets you actualy see how you should hold the ball. Your stand and the follow through are very important which Mr. St.Martin stresses time & time again.

Not as "insightful" as I was led to believe.
If you've read the Clifford Roberts book and are an ardent follower of the tournament, you will be disappointed. What I was expecting versus what was delivered were 180 degrees apart. Mr. Eubanks would have done better to explore more of the relationship between the National and the residents and town of Augusta. Eubanks needed to delve more into more recent tournament history (post 1980) as opposed to dedicating more to the period from 1933-1960. I'll be attending my fifth Masters Tournament in 1998 (4th in a row) and I hope to talk with some residents/patrons who have attended many tournaments throughout the years.

Gutsy book! The first to take an HONEST look at Augusta.
It seems there's a new "unprecedented" book on Augusta and the Masters coming out every April these days, but this one was the first of its "investigative" ilk and it remains the best. Anything I had ever read in book form about Augusta/the Masters before this read like so much puff because they were written by authors who wanted to remain friends with Augusta's secretive powers-that-be. Eubanks examines and explores Augusta National with a lot of gusto and tells me dozens of things I didn't know about this place. Like the hush-hush shooting incident involving some black youths who had trespassed on the course just so they could take a dip in one of the ponds. Or how the myth surrounding Charlie Sifford's alleged exclusion from the Masters field by racist manipulators assumes facts Eubanks proves wrong. Or Bert Yancey's real obsession with the course itself. Or the suicide by the ticket scalper in 1997. There's also a lot of nice stuff about Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, as well as a chapter devoted to Ike and how his presidency was pretty much launched in the inner bowels of Augusta National's clubhouse. Buy this book--it's wonderful!

Excellent overview of the history of the Masters & ANGC
Provides and awesome in depth history of how Clifford Roberts and Bobby Jones put Augusta on the map, and along with this, formed one of the most powerful clubs in the world.

Also gives strong accounts of the history of the US Masters tournament.
