Excellent Book on Different Worldviews
Having read this book for Dr. Naugle's Philosophy class, I got this book first hand. It was one of our textbooks for his class, and it was a hard read. It was his dissertation, and the language in it can tend to be obscure. He sets out to analyze various worldviews from various perspectives. Being distinctly Christian, Dr. Naugle has three chapters on various Christian worldviews (Chapters 1,2,9). But, his philosophical insights into it at just short of amazing. This is a tremendous book from a tremendous man (And when you get through with it you will definitely know what 'Weltanschauung' means!)

Life Is A Group Grope
Frank's novel does a masterful job in identifying the "voice" we all need in the battle with life threatnening illness. Embracing and affirming the "whole person" through their storytelling goes far in overcoming the modernist approach in treating the illness without the person. Recognizing the struggle as an opportunity for journey also sounds the call to help others currently in the trenches to bring about healing. This is a beautiful book.

Fantastic Concept
An interesting, and beautiful, look at Wright's most personal work. Some of the best stuff I've seen on Taliesin West. Added bonus: the photography in this book is mouth-watering. Straus is no novice at photographing FLW's works, and in this book, it shows.

Close Encounter of the Wright Kind
This is a fabulous book for any F>L>W> collecter. It has many black and white photos which add a nostalgic feel to the book. This is the first book of many I own about Wright to show the beautiful Gertrude and Rose Pauson House. It burned to the ground. I only wish he'd put more in the book, since he did a story for a magazine about the home. This is a Must Have!!!

"Excellent story of Chief Pontiac's bloody uprising"
"An historical adventure set in colonial America. The two primary characters progress through a sequence of events involving real people and historical facts. This creates a vivid portrayal of life, sometimes quiet and serene, sometimes violent and deadly, on the expanding frontier.

Richard came to the New World as a boy when his blacksmith father fled England to keep his family from being repeatedly harassed and intimidated by drunken, overbearing, upper-class gentry. In Virginia he helped his father develop a thriving farm which they hacked out of the wilderness. After the death of his mother and sister, and against the withes of his father, he joined a ragtag crew assigned to rebuild the Braddock Road between Winchester and Fort Pitt. There he met a young trapper, Flip Wade, whom he learned to admire and respect. Together they decided to make their fortune in the lucrative fur trade at the frontier outpost of Detroit. On the way, they are forced to helplessly attend the wedding of a teenage captive white girl to a Seneca Chief. (There is a statue honoring this Mary Jamison in Letchworth State Park, New York) They also save the life of a young Indian who had been captured by a band of drunken marauding Hurons and left to die strung up between two saplings. This created a bond with the young brave who was destined to become chief of a Wyandotte village.

The Wyandottes possessed lighter skin and finer feature than their Indian neighbors, characteristics tribal lore indicated began several generations before when a group of Norsemen wintered in their village. These distinctions created animosity with the other red men in the area who accused them of wavering faithfulness to Indian causes because they had been captivated by white man's ways.

Richard returned to Virginia to marry Elizabeth Harrington whom he had known most of his life. They journeyed to Detroit and settled in an abandoned French farm. A few years later they are caught up in the vortex of Chief Pontiac's bloody uprising. The young Wyandotte chief plays a key role in thier survival.

Tafel's years with Frank Lloyd Wright
I bought this book since Edgar Tafel designed the home we live in and I wanted to learn more about him and his relationship with FLW. The book is very informative, shares the experiences and gives one a flavor of what it must have been like to live and work with FLW. Tafel was one of the first class of FLW apprentices....and later became part of the fabric of the school of architecture.

The book is full of photos and intimate glimpses. I enjoyed reading it...and I share it with friends.

Yellow Bricks and Ruby Slippers: An Anthology of Very Short Stories, Essays, and Poems

Rubies in the Land of Oz...
Okay so I am biased. I was lucky enough to be one of the mini authors in this delightful anthology containing an assortment of poems, short stories and quirkly little pieces that never go over the 99 word mark. Written partly as a dedication to the classic novel "The Wizard of Oz" this collection of easy to read shortlets (a great way to describe each piece)is wonderfully reminisent of an age long since past. Occasionally sentimental but never syrupy, this little book is pleasure to read, and it will have you giggling and crying in the same breath.
Yellow Bricks and Ruby Slippers might not be the best seller of the century but it is a wonderful little page turner that allows you momentarily to be nostalgic and enter a timeless world full of Munchkins, witches, dogs and little girls whose friends are scarecrows, cowardly lions and tin men who want a heart... If you are a "Wizard of Oz" fan this book will pique your funny bone and remind you that you too can click your heels and know that there is no place like home.

Very useful for office workers
Yoga At Work is a great book! This book has nice line drawings of the yoga stretches and postures and good explanations. Not only does it have yoga stretches, but this book covers such topics as the causes of physical and mental stress, improving your workspace, "quick-fix" solutions to common problems, diet advice, and 10-15 minute programs that are easy to follow and fit into a busy schedule. The book discusses meditation, relaxation, and yoga for travellers. The progression of exercises in the book is logical and easy enough for a beginner or someone with limited flexibility. For each exercise, there is a nice drawing (or drawings), what area of the body the exercise/stretch benefits, and how the stretch will benefit you. There are a lot of tips that are very useful for beginners. There isn't really any spiritual focus, mostly just practical information. None of the exercises requires any special equipment, other than a chair, perhaps. All can be done in a small workspace like a cubicle or office. The drawings show people in professional clothing and the exercises are especially designed for those who are confined to offices. There are stretches for those who mostly sit and for those who mostly stand at work. All in all, this book is very useful for relieving strain at work and the exercises are easy to use. I think anyone could benefit from using this book. Even if you are not an office/factory worker, you might find the short programs useful if you are very busy but want to loosen up a little and relieve some stress.
