GOOD REVIEW
I felt this was an interesting review of Wright's transition from Adler & Sullivan, the Prarie homes through the Usonian years. It is necessary to supplement this book with those which describe his life and philosphies in more detail to get the most out of "In The Nature of Materials." This is mostly a chronological review of how his home and commercial designs, concepts and use of materials matured over his working life. The second half of the book features photo examples of each step, and these are amply referred to by number in the text so you can easily refer to them. I enjoyed this book a great deal and recommend it for those who want more than just a Wright picture book.

Classic
A classic book and must have for an architectural library. The only problem being that you will need other Wright books to get more detailed documentation of his buildings.

Good advice!
At over thirty dollars, I expected more from this book. Like a better index. Some organization. And honesty about what the problem can and can't do. This book is little more than a sales demo of what the product can do. However, even then they haven't done a very good job.

I suppose this book would be OK if I were taking a class and had a teacher there. But on its own there's not enough explanation of why you want to do things.

The visual quickstart book is half the price, but contains much better instructions, is laid out better, and has a good index.

All in one guide!
With the new addition of InDesign to the field of Graphic Communications, a guide really needed to be written for the smooth transition. This book is excellent and is a must for any InDesign user, whether advanced or novice. It directly relates to the field of printing and is a great addition to any collection.

INVESTMENTS
Investments by Frank Reilly. This college level text is a wonderful source of information for beginning investors as well as seasoned Registered Representatives. The material is presented in a fashion that is easily understood with several examples and stories to illustrate the theories and practices of all investments. Not only does this book cover the traditional topics of Equity and Debt investments it also covers the ins and outs of futures, commodities, derivatives, currency and precious metals. The first chapters lead off with an indepth explanation of the markets for each investment and how investments get to market. The techinical discussion of bringing an issue to market and the financing of corporate america is very helpful and enlightening. 13 years after graduating with a degree in Finance I still refer to this excellent work by Frank Reilly for everyday information.

Excellent review of all possible finance instruments
It is a text book vs a simple reading book, however the author has done an excellent job of presenting the concepts in simple to understand format. With well writtem text and informative graphs the concepts easy to understand. Covers all types in investments instruments from stocks, bonds, options, futures and portfolio construction.

Jack Pumpkinhead finally gets a starring role
This book gives a major role to Jack Pumpkinhead, a character who never really had one in the Baum books. In this story, Jack must test the capacity of his pumpkin seed brains, and he really does come up with some clever ideas. With the help of the Red Jinn (who becomes a more important character in later books), he eventually manages to save all of Oz from a restless and ambitious baron. As is usual for Oz books, this one contains a lot of clever new creations, including an Iffin, a baron with a never-ending beard, and a runaway Christmas tree intent on finding new ornaments. There are also many new magical items, and some well-written sequences, including the description of the main characters' entrance into the fortress city of Baffleburg. While not one of the best or most important Oz books, it is definitely a fun read.

Ozma in chains! Who can save Oz now?
The Emerald City is under attack by the forces of the evil Mogodore the Mighty and it's up to Jack Pumpkinhead and an American boy named Peter to save Ozma and her friends from enslavement. Once again, Ruth Plumly Thompson spins an enchanting yarn full of colorful characters and wild situations. A delightful addition to the Oz series.

Reprint this book!!
Mr. de Varona's book is one of the best that I have read on the history of Latinos in United States and the people who helped shape this nation before the Mayflower arrived. Easy and intersting to read. It's time to reprint this book!

A "must-read" for every Hispanic.
Here's the true American History book you never read in school. De Varona tells it like it is and opens our eyes to what truly transpired after Columbus (Colon) bumped onto this landmass. If you want to learn more about how Hispanics have enriched the American way of life--and I'm not talking tortillas!--this is your book

This book is for the collector looking for scarce pieces.
For my purposes this book was only mildly informational. A collector, who is looking for rare or scarce pieces may find this book more educational. By the author's own admission, their audience aim is not for the casual collector or the eager investor. As most of the pieces pictured are listed as rare or scarce I don't think the subjects will be useful for my collecting purposes.

What I found the most interesting about the book was the detailed descriptions of each of the pieces and the wonderful clear pictures accompanying them. The author would not only describe the piece, he would tell you who made the piece and how his conclusion was reached based on other pieces, which have been positively identified. Similar pieces were compared in many instances and subtle differences in designs were noted to educate the reader on how to identify reproductions from the original.

Excellent quality and descriptions
The quality of the photographs is excellent. Large and clear photos give the reader a very precise view of the item. The descriptions leave no doubt as to what the item is. The references to reproductions of an item is extremely helpful. This is a long awaited book for any milk glass collector.

My one year old would rate this a 5
She absolutely LOVES this book and my 3 year old even tries to get a hold of this book. I do not find the artwork appealing - the illustrations are very simplistic - but perhaps this is the quality that appeals to toddlers. It is also a repetitive story - each animal asks if they can go for a ride, each gets in the canoe, until finally with a moose on board it sinks and they all go for a swim. So, your kids may like this book even if you don't.

Great Bedtime Book
My 1-yr old daughter loves this book. Of course that means I have to read it about 3-4 times in a row at each setting! A good alternative (and shorter story) to "Goodnite Moon".

Skyfire by: Frank Asch
"One day bear looked out his window and saw a rainbow. He had never seen a rainbow before." Bear Tried to convince his friend little bird that the sky was on fire but little bird knew it was just a rainbow. So. the two friends went on an adventure to find "a pot of gold, and to put the fire out." This book is an awsome way to teach kids about the myth of the "Pot of gold at the end of the rainbow," and its a good way to have fun with two diffrent voices it's a wonderful story however I feel that the Author who is also the illistrater could have put a little more detail into the pictures but the less detail did not take away from the story.

skyfire
The book Skyfire was a very good children's book to read. The book is considered to be a good childeren's book because it is an interesting story for little childeren. It let's them explore their imagination. Skyfire is also a very good childeren's book because it uses words that little kids will understand. When I was younger I loved this book, I would read Skyfire over and over again. As a little kid, I always wondered if I could put out a rainbow by throwing water on it....

Netter's Atlas of Human Embryology

Netter's Embryology
This is a new and welcome addition to the Netter family of publications. IMHO, the real utility of Netter publications lies in the rendition of the plates. As an embryological atlas, this volume leaves somethings to be desired. Aside from this caveat, the images are a wonderful addition to the littany of "standard" figures that are ususally the same figure repeated with minor variations.

The use of color is of particular value in understanding the development of structures where boundaries between transient elements is indistinct. These make a nice adjunct to the more conventional texts.

This is a teaching book that will be of greatest use to those who have already grasped the basic elements of human embryology. They illustrate conceptually complex topics and are thus of real utility. I don't see this as a primary text, since it contains a great deal of anatomical, pathological and teratological images as well.

Netter's Atlas of Human Embryologogy
It's about time. There has never been a more lucid account of the normal and abnormal processes of human development. Netter's illustrations combined with Cochard's succinct text and learning aids go far beyond any other books published to help further the understanding of embryology.

Diamonds, proposals, weddings, honeymoon?!?! Help!!!
Thanks to Nick Corvair, I was able to take a deep breath and deal with the chaos of getting married. This book is witty, well written and made me chuckle all the way through my wedding. Great stuff!

Guys, getting married? Let Nick Corvair lead the way...
For those of you who think getting married is as exciting as reading War and Peace, fear not - your tutor has just arrived. Nick Covair's Pocket Guide to Marriage is the "Cliff Notes" to get you through the entire engagement process, leading up to the wedding.

The book delivers concise explanations of the do's and don'ts for everything from proposing, buying a ring, meeting her parents, picking a honeymoon destination, how to handle the wedding day and much more. You'll get some helpful answers to questions such as:

- What to do if she says "No." - Why you need to travel more than 300 miles away from family on your honeymoon. - What not to talk about with her parents the first time you meet them. - How to honestly determine if you're ready to marry her. - How to tell her you don't have enough cash to buy a diamond ring?

This quick read is right to the point and should take you about 30 minutes, cover to cover. After you're done, keep it some where handy in case you "forget the play" somewhere in the fourth quarter with your fiancée.
