Can you use the internet?
If you can use the internet, you do not need this book. There are no "big secrets" or earth-shaking revelations here. The information presented in this book is free to anyone who can do an internet search on whatever subject they are interested in. The only thing I learned from this book is how to compile readily available information and sell it for a profit. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Useful book
All of those useful little tidbits of information people always end up learning the hard way are in this book. There is almost too much useful consumer information in here. I am sure this book will save me a huge amount of trouble later in life. If you've ever wanted a book that could instill years of knowledge and experience to help you out with all sorts of monetary concerns, this is the book for you.

It is filled with many benefits and future savings.
I was impressed with the sheer volume and accuracy of the information contained in this book. It is filled with many benefits, and the future savings in dollars is just amazing.

Religious book
This is a religious book. It offers no useful suggestions on how to overcome anxiety. It is basically a "trust in the lord, and you will overcome this." Not helpful, if you're not particularly religious.

Words of Wisdom
I was given this book by a wonderful friend when my son was diagnosed with cancer. Each night as I lay down to attempt to sleep, I would open this book and read until I found something that made me feel better.

I was never disappointed. Each night I was greeted with words of comfort.

What a wonderful gift for anyone who is facing difficulties in their life! What a wonderful gift for anyone who wishes to seek peace through God!

100 Ways to Obtain Peace: Overcoming Anxiety
I read this book when it was first published a few years ago. I return to it often to find comfort and peace for my anxiety. I think that this book is a great one to carry around with you. It can be read at anytime and can help you distract yourself during a anxiety attack. I like how the verses and the comentaries on each verse is intergraded with biblical principles. I think that everyone should own this book.

The Best Private High Schools and How to Get in: The A-Z Guide to the Private School Admission Process (Princeton Review)

Only worth buying from a used bookstore
The book has some useful information, but it is heavily concentrated on schools in the Northeast. For example, the best private high school here in San Francisco Bay Area is not included. It doesn't have some vital statistics that a parent would look for, like the % of graduates that go to colleges, and which colleges the graduating seniors are accepted or attend each year. The information on most schools seem to come straight from the brochures from those schools. Little detail or school specific information is included.

Basically not worth buying. Can spend a couple of hours checking it out in a library or in a Border's Bookstore.

Not Bad, But....
This book, upon first look is very helpful, however it is inconsistent in the statistics that it offers (i.e. Average SSAT Scores shown for School A, but not School B). It also doesn't call upon unbiased independent counselors to write reviews but gets most of the info from schools themselves (huh, could that be why all of them sound so great?) It also does not include as many schools as I would have liked (apparantly the "Best Private High Schools" are the one's that paid the publisher to be included in the book) but helpful none the less

A good overview
As someone who knew little about America's top boarding schools, other than that my son wanted to attend one, I found this book very useful. I've now visited 10 campuses and their "feel" is accurately summarized in the book. Perhaps because he is lawsuit-shy or needs to preserve good connections with the schools, some of the author's criticisms are watered down, and a little reading between the lines is needed. I'd peruse this in tandem with Petersen's guide, which is packed with stats that this book lacks. But "The Best" was our primary resource and it served us well.

Important information lacking!
While perhaps the title of this book might give you a hint, nothing in the documentation for this book tells you that it is NOT the original, but is a translation into Spanish. Be forewarned. My low-star rating has nothing to do with the quality of the book. I assume the other reviewers were able to read the book in Spanish. But if you aren't able to do this, don't buy this book.

Believe me! it's a great book
this 's a good biography of Anne. it's very interesting book so i can't turn my eyes of it..

Rates Minus Stars
This is a supposed "thriller" that is actually a dull, dialogue ridden yawner with little action and uninteresting characters. The "mystery" involved is psuedo-solved in a very unsatisfiying way and the reason behind the murder involved is (to say the least) contrived. I read the descriptions on every box and bag in my cupboard before I resorted to complete the reading of this book. I held out a very small hope that its "resolution" might be in some way satisfying. My hopes were crushed. I will avoid this author at all cost in the future.

An Exciting Thriller From A New Author Worth Reading!
In his first novel, Grant Sutherland has produced a well-written, highly suspenseful (albeit slow-building) thriller about a murder that takes place at the United Nations. In addition to its well-developed plot, which is packed with twists and surprises, Sutherland's characters are believable and multi-dimensional. In many ways, Diplomatic Immunity reminds me of the early works by Robert Ludlum, which, to me, is a high compliment. If you're a thriller lover, or any reader who is seeking a very good book, Diplomatic Immunity is definitely worthy of your consideration. I'm very much looking forward to Sutherland's next book.

A FULL-THROTTLE THRILLER
The UN is shocked by the news: a diplomatic minister is found murdered in the basement of the UN building.

No one is more devistated by the news than Sam Windrush, a deputy in Legal Affairs, for him the victim was his friend, someone who through personal tragedy has been linked to him for years. Intent on catching the killer, Sam moves into action, even though his superiors want him to abandon the investigation.

Since the murder has cast an uncertainty on the outcome of a high stakes assembly vote, the UN does not want anymore controversy, thus making Sam's investigation impossible. Battling various roadblocks set by everyone from his supervisor, and foreign ambassadors, to his lover, Sam realizes he is in way over his head, racing a clock that one wrong move could cost him his life.

Not willing to give up, Sam continues on a maze of deception - where everyone is a suspect, every suspect has a hidden agenda, and all are protected by diplomatic immunity. With his job, and life on the line, Sam must find his killer before it's too late.

'Diplomatic Immunity' is a full-throttle thriller, that entertains while offering an exciting look into the heart of the United Nations.

Twisting plot thrills, page-turning action, and top notch writing make for a great thriller...and 'Diplomatic Immunity' has all of it.

Grant Sutherland has written a novel that ranks with the best of Ludlum, and deserves it's spot on the bestseller lists.

Generally useful for a subset of events
If you're considering a career in client-driven events (e.g. the Feldstein wedding) or an event support business (e.g. lighting design), this book will provide a useful overview of basic business issues. Most of these issues would require additional reading and the authors provide a good list of references. The coverage is a little uneven, with some topics (e.g. focus groups) discussed in great depth and others (e.g. risk managment) glossed over. There is also some redundancy (e.g. research techniques are discussed in some depth in two different chapters). But you'll also find lots of good advice on sound business practices.

In contrast, this book is a lot less useful if you're interested in developing your own public events (e.g. concerts, sporting events). There is minimal or no discussion of essential issues like sponsorship, ticket pricing or recruiting/managing volunteers. The discussion of marketing is limited to attracting clients and does not touch on recruiting an audience. There is, however, considerable overlap in the business issues. Since I haven't found a good coverage of that area elsewhere, I'd still recommend this book for you.

Too much for a beginner
This book is very technical and goes into a great depth of the "business" end of running your own company. It is not a good book for someone who's just beginning and just wants basic information about the event planning business in general. For my needs Affairs of the Heart by Nancy Gluck was a much more insightful book.

Dollars and Events
This is a good basic text for starting an event planning business. It includes step-by-step instructions for how to get started, manage the finacial end and maintain your edge in the business. There are lots of sample forms for everything from assessing your suitablility for this business to a sample contract. Throughout the book are anecdotes about people who succeeded at the particular element being discussed.

The book is well written and easy to understand. If gives a good idea of what to expect and what is expected. If you are considering a carreer in event planning, this is a good place to start.

DO NOT ORDER THE BLUE UNICORN EDITION!!!!!!!
The Blue Unicorn Edition is an incredibly shoddy book-- an InstaBook. It looks like a printout of an unillustrated web page. To top it off, the author's name is given on the cover as "Frank L. Baum," which showed these people had no idea what they were doing, not to mention it's poorly cut and there are blobs of ink all over the book. I'm going to send it back and exchange it for the Wildside edition. I know their books are good quality, since Phyliis Ann Karr showed me hers from them.

Excellent novel, not-so-good illustrations
The novel is a typical Baum fantasy, that is, carelessly plotted, but filled with wonderful creations (there is more invention in one Baum novel than in a basket of trilogies by any current fantasy writer), and often amusing (the reformation of the thieves is hilarious). As for this particular edition: No one can fault the publisher for being stingy with George O'Connor's illustrations--there are approximately fifty--but that is not necessarily a good thing. O'Connor's work seems crude to me, and he has an annoying tendency to stray from the text--for example, the hero, Prince Marvel, is repeatedly described as "small" and "slight," yet O'Connor consistently depicts someone who could wrestle Superman.

Lovely Light-heartedness.
Yes, Baum has done it again. This book is a lot different from many of his others, yet maintains his odd magic. The only thing that I didn't like is that the main character is already so powerful that none of the bad guys pose much of a challange to him. But really, any Baum reader will love it.

Large fine book
I think Dominic has panned the book needlessly. It is not that bad. It is a large book and yes the popups are not the best but they are not bad either. It is definitely a book to have in ones collection. Couple of the pops are large and deserving of attention.

Frank Lloyd Wright in Pop-Up
I have collected pop-up books for 35 years and must disagree with Dominic. Yes, the book is fragile, nearly all large pop-up books are (most books this size will develop splits in the gutters if you are not extremely careful). I feel the pop-ups are in keeping with Wright's work. I especially enjoyed the accompanying text and plans. I'm very happy to include this in my collection.

Dignity, Spendour, and Grandeur.
This book of Pop-ups, side by side with the building photographs and original plans and drawings, show all the beauty and majesty of Frank Lloyd Wright's most famous buildings. It's done with grace, and beauty, and style befitting the nature and purpose of the book. The pop-ups are elegant, simple, and yet breathtaking.

Like most pop-up books, it is fragile, paper engineering being what it is. I have yet to see a pop-up book that isn't as fragile as a flower. You should keep this book out of the reach of children. But, it should make a beautiful coffee table item for thoughtful adults, but again, it's destined to be a wonderful collectors item, so only take it out for special occasions.

I read Dominic's review and completely disagree. As a pop-up book collector, I expect pop-ups to be only as complex or realistically depicted as makes sense to its art and that of the story. The pop-ups cleverly give you the illusion of standing back and viewing the structures from a great distance as opposed to viewing a 3 dimentional, detailed miniature.

It works beautifully.

Not to be used with the Alternate Edition
I bought this book assuming it was the solution guide to the Alternate Edition book (since Amazon.com had it listed as the solutions manual for the Alternate Edition) but it is completely different problems. This is to accompany ONLY the 10th Edition.

Helpful
The solutions manual is helpful IF you already know what you are doing for the most part. The explanations are sometimes step-by-step, but many of them are not. This manual does not "hold your hand" like some of the others that I've had experience with.

I would still recommend purchasing this book because of its low price.

NOoooOoooooooOooo

Oh my...it's certainly "special"
Lord help us if this book ever replaces the interaction between a student and teacher! If that happens, we're doomed! This book should come with a warning label:
Warning! Dangerously boring contents enclosed. Fasten a bib so as to not drool on your clothes before proceeding.

Yet another boring "brainiac" book in the saga of Kagan books; please think before you buy! It's not any better than the previous editions for the earlier sections of history. Yes yes, it has photos...oooh, ahhh. Now, let's pretend that you actually will read it. Oh! Haha! That's right! It's not possible! It's too boring. Names, dates, locations...it's very drawn out and you don't get enough of the "why's" to understand the significance of these events in history. They should take Elvis's advice and return this baby to sender!

Reading but for School a 4... I guess :)
If you are buying it for school- it is required- then of course you must purchase it. If not then I say don't buy it for reading beacuase it is a little boring. Dates after peoples names it is to much! A whole lot of info but hard to understand. Get it for school not for anything else. Oh yes it probably would help on the Ap exam but I think you should also by a study guide and workbook beacause that helps. ( if you do it right!) :) Well Goodluck! Oh my bad review of a 3 is not that it has bad info it is because it is for school and I get so bored. Hope this helps!

FABULOUS HISTORY BOOK!
I can't say that I'm a history lover, but this book defintiely kept me interested. (Interested enough that I tested out of my first two semesters of European History!)
