Action Adventure!
Not being a regular novel reader it took me a while to keep the characters straight, but once I got into the third chapter I couldn't put it down. The suspense and action reminded me of a Grisham novel. The clarity of the descriptions of the chase scenes was such that I could literally "see" the action and the pace was so fast that I felt like I was there. I cannot wait to get my hands on Tony Frank's next release!

Make the Movie!
Mr. Frank has the gift! This story is like silk. There is an economy of words here that makes it an effortless and enjoyable read. The book has the pace of a movie, cutting from one scene to the next in a way that draws the reader inexorably into it. It's a timely story, told very well, and provides a revealing view into the complexities of computer hacking.

A great thriller!
A captivating thriller charged with adventure and intrigue. This novel is well written and very well researched. I really could not put it down after I got going. I loved the continuous suspense and speed, it would make a great movie!

An suprisingly Intellectually Challenging Comic Strip
I first picked this book up thinking it was just another stupid anonymous comic book that I'd glance at and put down immediately, but upon browsing a few of the pages I started chuckling and then laughing out loud, and at one point I laughed so loud that I startled myself because I realized of course that I was in a book store and it was very very quiet except for my LOUD laughing.

A fantastic read, with realistic and believable characters that I suspect are probably taken from either the authors life or his dreams and imagination. I'd recommend to EVERYONE, however some of the jokes are aimed at older at least teenaged people, and some adult themes are weaved throughout.

The main characters are short-but-average-joe, a bunch of super-smart but WIERD animal-like characters, and the tall beauty naned Brandy that pretty much makes the book.

I wouldn't say I'm anxiously waiting for the next Frank Cho book because I have other interests that take up much of my time, but really, I'M WAITING ANXIOUSLY FOR FRANK'S NEXT BOOK! lol

Thanks for reading, I hope this review helps you decide on whether to purchase or not.

The First Liberty Meadows Comic Strips
"Eden" contains strips from the begining of "Liberty Meadow's" syndication run in 1997 and run to about mid-1998. There are NO Sunday strips included, only the Monday through Saturday daily strips. But, since Frank never had his Sunday strips included in his serials, they aren't really required.

For those who are unaware of "Liberty Meadows", this is a strip about the Liberty Meadows Animal Sanctuary. Here, several crazy animals live including a rescued midget circus bear, a LARGE frog, a hog who used to be a mascot for the University of Maryland, and other critters. You also have the shy, nerdy vet Frank, and the hot animal psychiatrist Brandy (whom Frank has a HUGE crush on but who can't seem to bring himself to ask her out). The artwork is VERY good and the humor is good but may not be for everyone. Frank Cho does a lot of parody in his strips and some of that may go over people's head.

There are a few things that set this book apart from other comic strip books. The first being the paper this is printed on. This is high-gloss, heavy paper which is very nice! Second, Frank has included some new material at the beginning of the book in which a very old Ralph and Leslie are visited by someone who wants to interview them about their days at Liberty Meadows Animal Sanctuary. From there, we are launched into the classic comic strips.

At the end of the book, Frank has graciously included several drawings from his sketchbook as well as the cover art from the various comic books (the strip went to comic book format after leaving syndication).

This is a great addition to anyones comic strip book collection.

Informative and Readable
This book has helped me sort out the basic issues and positions on the most important moral issues we face today. It includes major historical positions from both secular and religious viewpoints. The presentations of such topics as medical ethics, sexual ethics, and areas of social ethics illuminate fundamental issues that will remain pertinent for every person in all cultures. I now understand what I must consider as I give thought to personal and social ethical concerns. An up-to-date bibliography is provided along with excellent internet links. As a retired high school math teacher, I was looking for a survey that was solid academically yet readable without taking a course. This book is the answer!

More on Chinese Edition
Received by Dr. Nolan from one of the translators on November 20, 2000:

I am sure that you would be pleased to know that your book has been read in many universities in China, because it was one of the first few Western books on applying ethics that were introduced to the Chinese. For this, I am deeply grateful to you.

The empowering factor!
Frank delivers a profile of the future that few authors have.
Unlike other titles this book does not focus solely on religion it highlights timeless virtue and inner values as a factor toward a bright tomorrow. Respect for law, values and education will be a reason to hope after all. This is an excellent read!

Millennial World Order
How refreshing to read this book. Bringing religion into our lives makes us so whole and alive. This author writes from the heart and knows his Bible and is spreading the word.

Faith = Religion ??
A well-researched book that has has been overdue. A book about "religion" by an author who shares his insight into the dark side of churchianity. Sherosky uncovers the hidden truths about real Faith for the real Believer and proves that Truth will set you free! This is a book for those who are not sure of the future, nervous about the present, and uncertain of the past. Its also a book for those in the churches and synagogues who think they are already well-informed about such matters. The hidden agendas, spiritual abuse, and distortions of the secular and religious "teachers" are revealed in a postive manner. The future of mankind will be far different after the arrival of the Messiah than that which the Rabbis and Clerics have hyped for the past 2,000 years. The ultimate potential for the human race will be realized in the Messianic Millenium which is the "Good News" shared by Sherosky in detail. Must reading for those seeking the faith once delivered.

A classic for the modern age.
Next: A Poetic Odyssey, by Lee Frank is an imaginative picaresque romp through a deliciously tongue-in-cheek dreamscape. The Next Bible, an ancient manuscript that is the prized possession(and secret weapon) of the royal Next family, has been misappropriated by the conniving Getavius Medalion and his loyalists. The book, which details many secrets of our universe and its parallels, becomes the target of a wild tug-of-war between the two clans. Those who possess it-and can decode its arcane language-can harness the power of different vibrational frequencies for the evolution of technology and consciousness. Or perhaps for darker purposes...... At once witty and thought-provoking, Next will have you trying to decode those vibrational frequencies yourself. God may be in the details-or in the molecular structure.....

a poetic odessey at it's finest...
reading lee frank's odessey transports you into another realm...allowing you to escape the trivialties of every day life. he's a great new author that should be recognized for his talents to combine humor, fantasy, and logic into an intriguing novel.

Next transcends literary monotony.
Next has transcended the boundaries of literary monotony & mediocrity. Lee Frank's colorful treatise on the human comedy/tragedy is destined to become a modern classic.

enchanting introduction to the night's mysterious animals
This is a fun, entertaining and informative introduction to nocturnal animals for city or country kids. Each of eight animals is given a double-page spread that includes a large pull-tab that reveals the animal in a natural setting; a large lift-the-flap that reveals the animal's identity, picture and several well-chosen paragraphs of interesting information; and a 2-3 second push-button recording with decent sound quality -- the sounds are authentic but a little fuzzy. The eight animals are the coyote, spring peeper, great horned owl, American toad, whippoorwill, field cricket, bullfrog and katydid -- one mammal, two birds, three amphibians and two insects.

This is the kind of book that excites children's interest in nature. It is thoughtful and beautiful.

Night sounds
What a fun book! The night is such a fascinating time for children (and adults). The squeaks and squawks and hoots coming from the mysterious shadows can either draw you in, or cause you to run into the house and hide. Gallo's book leads a child to do the former. He starts us all on familiar ground - guessing - what was that noise (supplied by crisply recorded sounds in the book)? Pull the tag, and your question is answered.

What sets this book apart, though, is the information Gallo shares once you lift the flap. The more you know about a creature, the more you want to know, and he supplies us with the important, and often fascinating, tidbits about each animal covered. The writing belies the author's personal experience with the animals. For example, "The song of the whippoorwill is something you will never forget." You know he's heard this bird and knows what aspects about it to share in order to engage the young reader.

Using this information, the readers can then go out on that night, or the next morning, to seek out their nocturnal neighbors.

A good book to kick off the collection in your child's nature library!

Fantastic reading experience
As an early childhood educator for 25 years, and a mother of nine children, I can say this is one of the best books I've experienced. The sights, sounds and activities keep my children enthralled. And even I enjoy learning the sounds that nature makes!

Notes on the State of Virginia

Jefferson's Brilliance
Thomas Jefferson's " Notes on the State of Virginia" is a brilliant piece of history, sociology, law, geology, government, and science. This work, Jefferson's only book, shows his powerful, brilliant mind at it's best. Jefferson shows the depth of his knowledge, not just on his own beautiful state, but on human nature itself. Some of the gems in this work are his views on education, advocating free public education for all, free government, advocating a revisal of the defective original Virginia Constitution. His knowledge of slavery, and the Indian races before his eyes are from personal experience and observation. Although painted by the deconstuctionist left as a "racist" Jefferson was a dangerous radical to the Virginia gentry due to his advocacy of emacipation and deportation of slaves. His views on black inferiority are exaggerated since he placed them forth as a scientific hypothesis based on personal observation. Jefferson could not see a "multicultural" society in America made up of former masters and slaves with resentment and prejudice still in the hearts of both. Many of his predictions about race relations have come true: hate, resentment, power struggles, and a continuing obsession which he forsaw would destroy the America Republic.

The best edited version of the is Koch and Peden's edited on in "The Life and Selected Writings of Thomas Jefferson", but the full Notes is very good, but the reader must be prepared for numerous charts and tables. Overall a great book, and buy!

Highly recommended for H.S and college students & others
The book is written much like an epic poem- with lists of river, towns, economic conditions etc in 1780s. But also much more: His feeling on race. He obviously did not hate blacks, proposed a theory that they were less intelligent, had an aesthetic view of man akin to Gulliver's Travels and the horses. Theory of education is much akin to European model of today, much better than current theories in use. He opposed multiculturalism and opposed teaching children religion in schools or anyplace else, preferring Greek, Roman and European histories and philosophy for guidance of children. The difference between the America he wanted and the reality of today is striking. Which is better? Each must judge, but this is a must read book.

This is the only book Thomas Jefferson published
I recomend The book which was edited with an introduction and notes by William Peden. I have an orginal copy of "Notes on the State of Virginia" Second Amarican edition Printed in 1797, on loan to the Monticello, (of which I am welling to part with at the right price). This was a hard book to understand, once I read the one edited by William Peden, I had a much better understanding of what Mr. Jefferson wrote, as well as the history of Mr. Jefferson's efforts in acheaving it's final contents.

A great guide!
These cards are a small reminder of Linda Goodman's Star Signs. It is a great aid to assisting you in reconnecting to the basis of natural laws, they just use different names - ie Mercury, Venus, etc. I have used other numerology but this one fits right in with so many things. Take for instance the WTC attack. This happened on the 11th day and if you read what the number means you will see that this world's energy runs on an orderly method and these cards hit close to home. Remember that these cards like anything else we humans use can be abused. They are an aid, a guide and as being human, the road our destiny takes is really our final choice, and these cards assist us to make spiritual choices based on an ancient knowledge that is being remembered.

For anyone with a special interest in Linda Goodman
Star Cards is a set of metaphysical divination cards inspired by the astrological teachings of Linda Goodman, with written materials compiled and written by Crystal Bush and illustrated by Frank Riccio. Any with a special interest in Linda Goodman will consider this set an important purchase.

Beautiful and Illuminating!
For fans of Linda Goodman this is a real treat! I followed LInda's books and was overjoyed when the Star Cards came out. They're exquisite, and follow Linda's numerology teaching by the ancient Chaldeans. I found the official website dedicated to LInda's teachings at Lindagoodman.net where you can buy things mentioned in Linda's books. These cards are beautiful and use the magic of numbers to help illuminate the way ahead. I love them!

This is a great book.
As all parents know, you read the same books to your kids over and over again. Some books drive me crazy, especially those movie tie-in books from Disney - ugh. But there are a few, like Mooncake, that I personally enjoy each time I read it. My kids love it too.

EXCELLENT BOOK FOR ANY AGE
Even though this book was written for younger kids, my 8 and 10 year-old girls love this book! My ten year-old loved the idea of a bear wishing to go to the moon so he could take a bite out of it. We have reading time everynight and Asch's book is still popular with them. I plan to buy more books by Asch...he rates a definite 5 stars!

My son knows all the words!
This book is a toddler's delight. The charming illustrations go beautifully with the story of how a confused bear travels to the "moon" and back again. Bear wonders what the moon tastes like and builds a rocket ship. However the construction goes late into the fall, and you can guess what happens when Bear climbs into the rocket ship and begins his countdown. As my 20 month old son says, "zzzzz". Bear wakes up because the wind starts to blow, and never having been outside in winter, he believes his dream has come true and he's on the moon.

When we read this book, my son likes to fill in the words he knows. He can't read, but he seems to know the whole story and can fill in more and more every day. This is a great book for toddlers, preschoolers and their parents!

Straight from the Heart
Frank Capra's superb autobiography provides loads of fascinating information about the film industry during a thriving period, when he was one of filmdom's most popular and successful figures, as well as about the mindset of this intriguing man of accomplishment. What is refreshing, along with his basic candor, is that despite his enormous success he retains a humble and highly humane touch.

Some of the most humorous anecdotes of "Name Above the Title" involve madcap, always colorful Columbia boss Harry Cohn, who took his Gower Street studio from the ranks of "Poverty Row" to the that of a giant. Capra helped significantly with box office smashes such as "It Happened One Night", "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington","Lost Horizon" and "Meet John Doe." It took awhile, but the Capra film which has soared to top spot in the hearts and minds of the public was the 1946 release starring Jimmy Stewart, "It's a Wonderful Life." The star was so enthused about the story that he pitched it personally to Capra after driving over to his house. Capra relates the time that he begged Cohn not to drop a struggling young cartoonist from the Columbia payroll, predicting that he would be sorry. Capra was right as the cartoonist was a young, meek Iowa farm boy named Walt Disney.

One of Capra's great contributions was directing and producing the excellent World War Two documentary series "Why We Fight." He tells about being called into the office of Army Chief of Staff, General George C. Marshall, who asked him to undertake the project. "But I've never done a documentary!" a surprised Capra replied. Marshall pointed out that he had never run an army before either, and that the American way during the critical war period was for citizens to learn jobs with which they were previously unfamiliar. Capra saw Marshall's logic and the rest is history.

This autobiography is fascinating enough for the interesting information about Capra's life. What makes it even better is that you are reading the revelations of a good man who did his best to instill positive values into his films, and to help in his distinctive way to make America a better country.

Five Inspiring Words: It's a Frank Capra Book.
To begin with, several adjectives to describe this wonderful book: 1.) candid, 2.) inspiring, 3.) poetic, 4.) instructional, 5.) spiritual, 6.) humanitarian, 7.) humorous, 8.) compassionate, 9.) courageous. From what I gather, it took Capra approximately three years to write this book, and what book it is. To be honest, this book is perhaps one of the best pieces of work we might ever have about the legendary director, the course of the twentieth century, and the people who have helped shape the film industry. This book demystifies the often deified directors, actors, moguls that ruled Hollywood during the golden age, reminding us of the universal bonds of humanity that link us all to each other. In many ways, it reads like a Frank Capra movie -- life-affirming to the end. For the younger generation (X'ers and Y'ers) who might question the values of their fathers' generation, this book is a must read. Underline this fact several times because when Capra takes you into his fold and shares his world, it is an experience you won't likely forget. Most history books seem to be written with a detached sense of objectivity from an supposedly impartial historian. The results of such labor is often an uninspiring book that keeps the reader at arm's length from the fascinating history, often boring the reader to no end. No so with Capra's autobiography. Capra reminds the reader that people are still simply people, no matter what generation, no matter which occupation. There are always going to be saints, martyrs, bullies, intellectuals, clowns, idiots in every walk of life. Such an example can be seen when Capra served in World War II and was privy to a touching moment with the great Admiral Nimitz. The old war hero had just come back from seeing three thousand men he had sent off to war -- some of them now without limbs, others without faces, yet all of them saluting him and thanking him from the bottom of their hearts. Nimitz broke down and wept, his shoulders so burdened by the sadness of his men's suffering. Hitting his desk over and over again the Admiral cursed the war with ever fiber in his being. After a brief moment to recompose himself Nimitz thanked Capra for being in the same room... allowing one tortured soul to connect and draw strength from another. Personally, it is easy to find yourself laughing when he laughs and crying when he cries. Like all classic works of literature, this book is so fresh in content, that it inspires the reader to look into his/her own heart and find the beating pulse of humanity and to take pride in the fact that one such as Capra was able to do so much through his films. I look forward to reading this book again and again. And perhaps, others will agree and do likewise.

The Great Frank Capra
I have never read such a fascinating auto-biogrophy. Frank Capra is not just a brillent directer, but a surprisingly good writer. Though it took him more then three years to write, THE NAME ABOVE THE TITLE was sure worth his time, and yours.

The around six-hundred page book covers Capra's life from his childhood as a Sicilian imagrent living in Los Angles to his retirement from film in the early 1970's. Early on you discover how important family was to Mr.Capra, and the impact that his father, mother, and dozen brothers and sisters had on him. I was also surprised to learn that as a youth Frank loathed this country. The book goes on to tell about Franks work as a gage writer for silent films, and how when he first signed-on with Columbia, the studio was considerd a joke.

There a number of major themes throughout the book, among them the importance of family and friends, patriotism, the changes in the Hollywood system, and the importance of a good storie. One thing I particularly enjoyed was to learn about the many diverse friends that Capra had, among them Russian-born composer Dimitri Tiomkin, space-telescope name-sack Erwin Hubble, and even Ted Gusile (better knowen as DR.
