Good first on US bonds
Excellent, modern, introduction to US bond markets, from treasuries through corporates to CMO's. Light on math and formulas, but you'll have that lingo under control.

Flying Saucers - Here and Now!
Author wrote this book following his "Flying Saucers - Serious Business" stating new evidence and new photographs, that is, cases that occurred during 1966 and 1967. The attempt is to let the cases speak for themselves. I have read most if not all of his books, and this is one to add to those one collection. Mr. Frank Edwards' book all let me with the impression to continue our search for the evidence and facts in each one of his cases, whether it be related to Flying Saucers or strange people or worlds. The truth is out there!

One of the better books about the American Volunteer Group.
Great book by my friend and comrade in arms Frank Losonsky. Would be nice if the correct sub title was used ie. The War Diary of an AVG Crew Chief instead of The War Diary of an Average Crew Chief. note: AVG American Volunteer Group Not necesary to make this public, but please correct it.

Fascinating glimpse of military life in antebellum Southwest
This is the diary of James Bennett, a young man who enlisted in the U.S. Dragoons in 1849 and served 7 years on the frontier at various posts in New Mexico. He encountered many figures known to history and traveled widely over the frontier from Texas to Wyoming to California.

Bennett's service saw him involved in battles with Indians, surveying the Gadsden Purchase and involved in the life of communities where American and Mexican cultures intermingled.

This book is a must for anyone interested in military history or life on the frontier prior to the Civil War

A good book if you have some background
This book is a good introduction to manifolds and lie groups.
Still if you dont have any background ,this is not the book to start with. The first chapter is about the basics of manifolds:vector fields, lie brackts, flows on manifolds and more,
this chapter can help one alot as a second book on the subject.
The second chapter is about tensors, this introduction can be very hard for someone who didnt met the notion of tensors ,since the book tends to take a very general line with out down to earth examples.the 3ed chapter is about lie groups. It is avery good introduction ,to my point of view ,one of the best there is.
The 4th chapter is about integration on manifolds and is very good too.Chapters 5and6 are about De Rham cohomology theory and the hodge theorem.
If you have some knowledge on all the above subjects this book can serve as a very good overview on the subject.

Fractions & Decimals: Inventive Exercises to Sharpen Skills
This book is one of a series of books called "Basic, Not Boring." I would agree with that subtitle. The activities included in this book are designed to put fractions and decimals in the many contexts and situations where they might be found. Additionally, the situations are very friendly to the age 10-13 group that the series appeals to. I would especially recommend this book to any teacher who has experienced a loss of words when asked, "When will I ever use this stuff you're teaching me?"

Frank Buchman's secret

A Man Ahead of His Time
This is Frank Buchman's story, or part of it. Written by Peter Howard, it tells about the formation of "Moral Re-Armament," and how Buchman's vision was that "..he wanted all men to learn to live like sons of God, and poured out his life to win that glorious liberty."

Buchman fearlessly held everyone to the truth that if he listened to God, God would tell him where to make a start in their own lives. When he made that start, he said that God showed him the place in another man's life where change could begin, and how to help the other man to make that beginning. Buchman believed that we needed to learn to read men like a page of print. "Sow a thought, reap an act. Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny."

He also believed that democracy was as strong as the character of those who spoke in her name, and that free men were blind to the fact that the way they lived shouted louder to the world than the fine speeches which their representatives made at the conference tables.

All in all, it boiled down to this: Buchman's secret was that "peace was not just an idea, but people becoming different and that the true peacemakers were those willing to pay the price of it by giving their lives to bring nations under God's control." That was his life's secret. He died in August, 1961, at the age of 81 years, and when he died, apparently messages came from 22 heads of state and prime ministers from all over the world. He was heralded as the greatest man of our age.

It was Frank Buchman's belief that everybody who wanted to be a re-maker of men and nations should in the first waking moments of every day, move out of themselves into Christ, and then out to others and then live out to others all through each moment of the day. A mighty message, but there are few today who may be able to stand in his stead. Interesting reading.

Frank Frazetta : book four

Fantasy Art by an American Master
Number four in the five volume series entitled "The Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta," this book, like the others, begins with a brief introduction by Betty Ballantine. Contains images of fantasy and science fiction containing some violence and nudity. For those wondering whether the art reproductions in these out-of-print Ballantine volumes are closer to the originals than the reproductions in Icon are, the answer is: sometimes. I went to the Frazetta Museum in PA in part to answer this question because I saw clear differences between the books. In Icon, reproductions are sometimes cropped and appear washed out with a dominant color. In Icon, for example, "Berserker" is washed out with red, almost duo-toned, which ruins his skin color. In Icon, many reproductions are cropped off. In the Ballantine series, reproductions are complete and have vibrant colors much more true to the originals.

Book is a 9" x 11", 95 pages, soft cover, first published in the U.S. in August 1980 and going into at least three printings thereafter. The cover painting is Sacrifice. Volumes four and five were printed in fewer numbers than the first three. Paper is high quality: thick and glossy. It contains assorted small sketches, figure studies, and the following untitled black and white drawings and color paintings: Eternal Champion, Iron Thorn, Tree of Death, Gollum, Fantasy World, Carson of Venus, Black Star, Count Dracula, Outlaw of Torn, Beyond the Grave, Winged Terror, Mongol Tyrant, Two of a Kind (fat nude female with fat pig) colored drawing, half page (hp) drawing African tribesman with shield & spear vs. big cat, hp drawing primitive man with spiked club in swamp, hp drawing primitive man with spiked club vs. triceratops, full page (fp) drawing seven primitives with spears vs. a tyrannosaurus, fp drawing cloaked, helmed man holding nude with two guards and corpse, primitive man carrying off two resisting nude women, preliminaries for Green Death and A Princess of Mars, God from the Sky, fp drawing primitive man with knife in grip of flying pterodactyl, hp colored drawing two primitive men fist fighting over woman on ground, small colored drawing tyrannosaurus in swamp, fp drawing tyrannosaurus in swamp, Space Attack, Space 104-Scramble, The Tempters, Circle of Terror, New World, The Cave Demon, Eve, The Return of Jongar, Thor's Flight, Witherwing, Frankenstein and Dracula, Las Vegas, Devil Rider, Sacrifice, The Secret People, Sound, Seven Romans, Flesh Eaters, Mothman, King Kong and Frazetta Self Portrait.

Not quite worth 5 stars
Frazetta continues on in his fine tradition of lush fantasy/sci-fi art, but falls short of the mark in this effort. There are some fine gripping works in this volume like the first and second, but some of them are starting to look tired and uninspiring. Could it be that Frazetta's commercial success is now affecting his talent? Still a must have for Frazetta fans though.
