Must have for Freshwater Ray Fanatics
I got the book from Amazon.com and it was indeed true to the editorial write up. However I must add that this is a book strictly for the avid freshwater sting ray aquarist. A problem with freshwater stingray is their many "morphs" within the same species and this book has a really comprehensive pictorial of the many "morphs" within the same species. Now I can identify the thirteen freshwater stingrays in my care with certainty. Note that this is not a book on care nor setup of aquariums for frewater rays. It is more a identification and writeup of the characteristics of the many freshwater rays. Strictly for the advanced aquarists specializing in freshwater rays only and hence fully worth the price and the 6 weeks wait I had.

A Must Have For Fresh Water Ray Owners!
While still new to caring for freshwater rays, a friend loaned me a copy of this book, and it quickly became my bible! With many color photos and illustrations, including a dissection photo, this book is a great reference tool for identifying and sexing rays. For those looking to keep rays as pets, the book covers the basic requirements for keeping rays, including tank size, subsrate, and water conditions. The book is also full of helpful words from the author's own experience of keeping freshwater rays, and can help you avoid common problems, diseases, etc. For those who do not plan to keep rays as pets, this book is worth a look simply for its wealth of information on one of the less known types of freshwater aquatic life. An interesting, informative, and essential book for any aquarist!

Let's hear it for Froggy!
Another great Jonathon London book! My daughter has all of his books and just absolutely loves reading these fantastic books over and over again! And the illustrations by Frank Remkiewicz are just marvelous!

All I can say is if you want a good book for your child that is enjoyable and pleasant and has a wonderful character then you need to invest in the Froggy series of books!

Froggy Wishes...Merry Christmas to All
Poor Froggy, he sleeps all winter and has never been able to celebrate Christmas. But this year, his friend Max the beaver has other plans. He wakes Froggy up from his long winter nap to not only wish him a Merry Christmas, but to give him his first Christmas present ever...a Christmas tree. Froggy and Max hurry to wake up Matthew, the turtle and Travis, the bear from their winter hibernations (because Christmas is about friends) and all four head out to find the perfect tree. They carry it back to Froggy's house, decorate it, make home-made presents for Froggy's family (because Christmas is about family too) and then it's time for Froggy to put the star on top of the tree. Over goes the tree as Max shouts "timber"! This wakes Froggy's mom and dad and they have a wonderful celebration, doing everything...opening presents, roasting chestnuts, singing, eating and even having a snowball fight. And as the day ends, Froggy wishes "Merry Christmas to All" Jonathan London has written a funny, happy, gentle story about the real meaning of Christmas...spending time with friends and family. His easy to read text, full of cheerful animal dialogue and wonderful sound effects is complimented by Frank Remkiewicz's colorful, busy, detailed illustrations. Together they've created a wonderful holiday story that's just perfect for pre-schoolers and that's sure to become an instant favorite in your house.

The Post family applaudes Bob Burke
What can be said about the most factual biography written about Wiley Post. Kudos to Bob for telling the story of Wiley Post with the utmost accuracy and authenticity. His work brings to the reader a factual and conceise history of one of the worlds greatest avaitors. Once you start you want to read it from cover to cover. For avaition buffs this is a must read. Not only does it give a great deal of insight to the mentality of a fearless flyer, but provides the reader a look at an uneducated man who by dogged detrmination and force of will, circumnavigated the globe and designed the prototype of the modern space suite.

Outstanding for many reasons. Perfrectly researched.
Bob Burke as set an example for writers and researchers that will be hard to match in his wonderful work on Wiley Post. Aviation buffs, Oklahomans and anyone who appreciates a good book that is hard to put down will appreciate "From Oklahoma to Eternity: The Life of Wiley Post and The Winnie Mae". In addition to his excellent journalistic skills, Burke proves himself to be a superb researcher with a desire to mix truth, fact and adventure with a great story about a great man. I have added this book to my personal list of all time favorites and will look forward to more works by Bob Burke. It is so very refreshing to read history (I am a historian) written honestly without loads of mistakes and sloppy research. Keep that word processor fired up Mr. Burke!

******* Excellent Funk & Fills !! *******
This book is great for working out your coordination and bass drum while learning funk grooves and fills. The 16th note triplets and 32nd note funk and fills I found espically challenging, but don't forget that less is more sometimes! The 8th & 16th note grooves and fills are equally important. Play all of these and pick out certain grooves or fills that you like and make them your own, or part of your playing library. The Play Along Tracks a plus with Franks' phenominal playing and then w-out drums so you can take a stab at it. Another great book by Frank Briggs !!

Another Great work from Frank Briggs!!!
Once again, Frank Briggs has made a work that should be had by all drummers! In here, he focuses on the fill as applied to the groove. Like Frank said, he gives over 200+ examples of grooves-fills to choose from. I've really been getting into jazzy-funk, hip-hop style music and "Funky Beats and Breaks" has been perfect in helping me play these styles with more finesse. And the songs on here do just that! I don't know why Frank Briggs didn't call it "SERIOUSLY Funky Breaks and Beats"!!! Especially with a song like "FunkyOrganThang", where you can't help but let the infectious groove Frank and his band lays down get you moving!!! It's a great work from beginning to end and I'm glad I've added it to my collection!!

Great insight into the architectural mind of Gehry
Frank Gehry's architecture has been receiving a lot of attention lately, and one can often wonder "How do those building get built?" well this book will tell you how the design go from sketches, to models, to the computer, to the final product... The photos in the book of models and the computer renderings are incredibly interesting and help the reader understand what it takes for a Gehry building to be born. Old, recent, and current projects are featured in this book. Definately a book worth picking up.

A fitting tribute to this groundbreaking architect
"Gehry Talks" is a thought provoking study of the evolution of Frank Gehry's avante-garde architecture. Anyone who adores modern architecture, or modern art for that matter, would be inspired by and should own this book.

The Generation and Measurement of High Voltage Impulses

A unique and excellent book
Measuring voltage impulses of 1 million volts or higher is a tricky and complicated business. Frank Creed, who for most of his career, worked at the Canadian National Research Council, developed the techniques and equipments used for these measurements. This book is the only one in english which covers the complete field. It is a primer which can be used by engineeers in the field and which not only shows the theory and flow charts but also the actual equipment and processes.

The Classic
Creed has spent his life at the National Research Council in Canada working with high voltages. This is the book to have if you need to know about this.

A major source on genetic fuzzy systems
The volume brings an outstanding presentation of the major issues, ideas, concepts and algorithms to design and develop fuzzy systems using gentic algorithms. A field of major relevance for researchers and practioners, genetic fuzzy systems provides a major methodological substract of significant impact in practice. The book is unique in its contents and presentation. Chapters begin with the key concepts and smoothly grows to advanced concepts in a clear and very understandable and motivating way. The material mirrors the state of the art in the area of genetic fuzzy systems and contains the most recent results available until its publication. Written by renowned, internationally recognized researchers, the book is mandatory to all who are interested in the field of computational intelligence, its foundations and applications.

Summary of contents by the author
In recent years, a great number of publications have explored the use of genetic algorithms as a tool for designing fuzzy
systems. Genetic Fuzzy Systems explores and discusses this symbiosis of evolutionary computation and fuzzy logic. The book summarizes and analyzes the novel field of genetic fuzzy systems, paying special attention to genetic algorithms that adapt and learn
the knowledge base of a fuzzy-rule-based system. It introduces the general concepts, foundations and design principles of genetic fuzzy
systems and covers the topic of genetic tuning of fuzzy systems. It also introduces the three fundamental approaches to genetic learning
processes in fuzzy systems: the Michigan, Pittsburgh and Iterative-learning methods. Finally, it explores hybrid genetic fuzzy systems such as
genetic fuzzy clustering or genetic neuro-fuzzy systems and describes a number of applications from different areas. Genetic Fuzzy System represents a comprehensive treatise on the design of the fuzzy-rule-based systems using genetic algorithms, both from
a theoretical and a practical perspective. It is a valuable compendium for scientists and engineers concerned with research and applications in
the domain of fuzzy systems and genetic algorithms.

The Lost World
Mathias' childhood was poised on the edge of cataclysm. Of course, the portents of this coming storm were little noticed by Mathias and his pals; they were far too busy stealing watermelons (by floating them downriver), exploring abandoned privys (with dire consequences) and tramping the countryside of their 20-mile-wide bit of the planet. With a fluid and often hilarious narrative Mathias lets us live as a child of the 1930's. His writing has that "ring of truth" which amplifies the humor and poignancy of the tales he tells. He never forgot how ten-year-olds view the world. A delightful, engrossing, touching memoir giving much needed context to the lives of those who gave the supreme sacrifice. Highly recommended.

His Old Kentucky Home
In the tradition of Angela's Ashes, this wonderfully evocative book is a joyful journey back into an ordinary man's past which reveals that no one's past is really ordinary. Mathias' description of his boyhood in a small Kentucky town is a vivid microcosm of pre-World War II America. The author's affectionate parents are still wedded to their Victorian upbringing, while Frank and his young friends are treading a rocky path between the idealism of the nineteenth century and the exciting unknowns of a new era. His portraits of local characters such as incorruptible high school principal Everett Earl "Fanny" Pfanstiel, and his own father, "Lucky" Mathias (addicted to championship prizefights on the new Crosley radio) are both touching and hilarious! A deeply satisfying glimpse into our collective past by a gifted history professor...

Definitely one of the better ones of its type
There are a bazillion golf instruction books, including several that are very similar to this one in format and scope, but as a certified glutton for everything that comes down the pike I can say without reservation that this is one of the better ones. The writing is clear, the illustrations are excellent and the topics are well-organized and fleshed out. Golf Magazine itself has improved greatly over the last decade, and this is a first-class product -- not something that has been quickly pieced together from previously published articles. It's genuinely educational in the sense that it discusses alternative approaches and doesn't simply try to get you to Swing Like Tiger or Swing Like Ernie. It strikes me as very reasonably priced for the depth of the material and the quality of the book itself. If I had to pick a target audience, I'd say it would be ideal for the 80 to 100 shooter. It may be a bit much for a raw beginner and perhaps a bit basic for someone who considers The Golfing Machine to be light reading, but for everyone else it should be a very worthwhile addition to your library.

The premier golf instruction manual!
Wow! What an outstanding instruction book. Every element of the game is presented here, from the one handed putting stroke of Mike Hulbert to the funky swing of Lee Trevino. "Since no two golfers are exactly alike in size, athletic, ability or temperament, what works for player A almost certainly will not work for player B." This book will definitely give you all the "golf theories" out there without over emphasizing any one over the other. What I found special about this book was it's ability to show the "prevailing wisdom" as well as a host of alternative methods and different strokes throughout each chapter. I truly enjoy this book and would recommend it to golf enthusiasts. BUY THIS BOOK!!!
