Seeing is believing!
In choosing to go into the field of Microscopy, I found it hard to get friends and family to understand what some of the things were that we could see with the Electron Microscope. With this book they have come to realize what it is that I am talking about. The kids all think it's cool.

Cmc Rope Rescue Manual

Great, but a lot of advertising
CMC has outdone themselves again with this book. It is full of great illustrations, techniques and ideas, unfortunately they make it too obvious that CMC also sells hardware - fortunately it's great hardware.

I particularly like the appendices where the results of various testing to failure was done on knots, etc. Nothing like scientific data to back up experience.

remembering fleming
I'd like to get back with this book which I bought and greatly enjoyed and learned a lot from soon after its publication - UK publication at a guess 1962 or 1963. All serious students of foreign affairs (at least) should visit or re-visit this early breakthrough book in pointing out US (and, a bit UK, but that's not Fleming's target) contribution to the Cold War. Fleming as a soft Leftie is very gullible about alleged lack of commitment to expansionism on the part of Stalin etc 1945/6 to 1950. Nonetheless, he points, as I recall, to objective factors limiting Soviet power at the time. Many of its theses have been developed and expanded (eg only today 30.iii.02 did I learn from Stromberg or Raimondo that there are Rightwing critics of US action in Korea 1950 June 25 - hitherto I had thought that it was only extreme Lefts who recognized Syngman Rhee's aggressive policies) - but the book is worth reading in itself, as well as a guide to the ideological position 1959-62 - an important period in the expansion of US imperialism. Come back when I have retraced my steps. (link also to Betty Friedan who denounces - Feminine Mystique, copy not to hand - US childrearing because US troops were not as anti-communist as Turkish...!)

Colonials and Patriots
This volume deals with the great "outdoor archives" of American history as found in historic sites and structures. COLONIALS AND PATRIOTS has two parts. The first offers a brief historical background for the period 1700-83 in American history. The second represents the major contribution made in this work. It consists of classified, carefully evaluated descriptions of historic places that should be visited by anyone who wishes to become acquainted with American history in its "third dimension." This is the dimension of place. Photographs, and the locations of many of the historic sites mentioned add much to the text of this book.

A great gift book for infants or preschoolers. Some fans might be upset that not all teams are represented! But why not teach your child the color gold with a picture of a Super Bowl ring?

The Comanches: A History of White's Battalion, Virginia Cavalry
Published in Hardcover by Old Soldier Books (June, 1987)
Author: Frank M. Myers
Amazon base price: $50.00
Average review score:

Excellent narrative history.
Captain Frank M. Myers tells an interesting and detailed history of White's Battalion of the 35th Virginia Cavalry. Though in the preface Myers claims to be no man of letters, it is clear that he has a way with words and an eye for detail.

This book is a good read for anyone interested in the gritty day-to-day existence of the Confederate soldier. Myers' decriptions are clear and concise. He maps the movements of the Comanches through pine forest and cotton field, from Loudoun County, Virginia to Leesburg; Hamilton's Crossing to Centreville.

Interspersed with command correspondences, anecdotes and excellent scenes of battle, this is a very personal history of terrible conflict.

The book tells the CBOT history and has tecnical information about the major commodities trader there ( agricultural, financial and energy ), including specifications, top producers and consumers. It helps to understand the market functioning and principal tools, like futures contracts and options, although dont't has useful technics about how to evaluate the prices or the market beaviour. It's a good reference book of futures market.
