Explains where today's political currents are sweeping us.
Has to be read more than once to get the full
impact. Once a reader understands what the
Scriptures teach about this subject, the
morning headlines will never be the same again.
This book illuminates the real issues in
the Middle East like nothing I have ever read
anywhere else. But it's not a quick read. You
have to think!

Commentary on Daniel
As I began to read this commentary along with my bible, the book of Daniel was opened in a way I have never seen before. The author, Harry Bultema, had done extensive research on the historical events from Daniel's time up until 1920. He does a very thorough job of covering the world empires with much attention to Alexander the Great and his conquests. What I found facinating was that the book was written around 1915-1918 and the author makes references to prophecy yet unfilled in his day, however, clearly they have been fulfilled at this point in time. I would recommend this book for anyone who is interested in the prophecies of the book of Daniel.

The best book for junior and Senior high teachers
I first read this book as an undergrad, and then again the summer after my first year of teaching in the Writing Project. I found so many useful things that I could actually impliment in the classroom. Z and D offer many easy to follow suggestions that set off that "why didn't I think of that" response. They also suggest that we "break the red pen" habit when "rewriting" our students' papers. As I finish up my first full year of teaching, I look back and see the many times I turned to Z&D for help in solving a writer's problem.

Compiler Design Theory
Published in Hardcover by Addison-Wesley Publishing (January, 1976)
Authors: Philip M., Lewis, Richard E. Stearns, and Daniel J. Rosenkrantz

The good starting point, is embracing, neat and actual.
This book is a good starting point for anyone who needs to create a compiler, parser or scanner, but didn't read anything about compiler design theory yet. This book is completely self-contained and assumes only the familiarity with programming languages and the mathematical sophistication commonly found in juniors or seniors.

The material in this book has been taught for several years in one-semester first-year graduate courses at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., the State University of New York at Albany, and many other institutions. The bewildered looks of students in these institutions have motivated the authors to do several rewrites of the materials. That's why the book is pleasant to read and easy to understand.

The book contains a good introduction to state machines and all modern grammars, including, but not limited to, LALR(1).

Since the book doesn't cover code generation, but only lexical and syntax part, it is still actual since published 1976. For example, the most popular nowadays LALR(1) grammar, supported by Yacc and Bison, is a core of the GNU compiler and many other commercial compilers. But the book itself is tool-free, it explains the background that never expires, rather than bothering the reader with the tools which may exist today and vanish tomorrow. The example of such book with a mess of theory and tools is "Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools" by by Alfred V. Aho.

The book "Compiler Design Theory" is embracing, neat and actual.

The Complete English Tradesman
Published in Paperback by Sutton Publishing (February, 1989)
Author: Daniel Defoe
Amazon base price: $11.00
Average review score:

Timeless guide to business practicalities
Defoe wrote this in the late 1700s, and it was revised in the early 1800s, with comical footnotes about how those antiquated business practices had now been modernized! Defoe was involved in various mercantile ventures, and wrote from hard earned experience, providing a bona fide textbook of business strategy and negotiating practices that is still very cogent today. I'd highly recommend this book to young people entering the business world, but alas it's out of print, and thus impractical to obtain.
