Thought-provoking and superbly edited.
This collection of essays on issues related to organ transplantation is both thought-provoking and timely, as our society grapples with critical problems such as the allocation of donor organs, the use of animal organs, etc. Caplan and Coelho have done a superb job of editing this anthology.

Covers a wide variety of topics
I have gone through a very emotional period in which twice, I thought I was going to be a living organ donor. Once it was to have been a kidney and the other time a lobe of my liver. Each time, I was unable to undergo the surgery. My liver's blood vessels are in the way, thus the surgeon cannot safely operate without risking severing an artery. Going through the process of preparing for surgery, even though ultimately the surgery never took place, has given me an interest in the topic of organ transplants and the ethical issues surrounding them. This book has articles on the ethics of living transplants as well as many other topics such as the allocation of scarce organs, using fetal tissue, defining "brain death," etc. Some articles are several years old so the technology discussed may be a little dated but the ethical issues remain. Some articles are from medical journals and are rather technical from a lay person's standpoint. Nonetheless, most articles are interesting and when I showed this book to my would be surgeon for the liver transplant, he immediately ordered a copy for himself.

A Great Introduction or Review of Economic Concepts
I enjoyed reading the book. It has some very creative examples and very humorous section titles. Everything You Need To Know About Economics is a great review of economics in general and I recommend it to anyone who would like to have a learn more or brush up on economic principles.

Great Book For Anyone!
When I first picked it up I was very unsure of what I was getting in to. I wasn't sure if this would just another dry all-in-one type book with loads of info. Rather this book by Fike and Stebben, puts Economics in real life terms! Easy read and very easy to follow, makes Econ. and enjoyable subject, unlike those college classes.

Brilliant; but tedious
I had to read this book as an assignment for my 8th grade Language Arts class. I read it, and was left feeling cold, but along with that the ending was actually well-written. "Flyers" gets pretty tedious... the topics(which are usually boring ones) usually just ramble on and on, for about 20 pages filled with hard-to-read words. After about an hour, I had to either decide weather I would want to continue this book or not... but I finished it, and I'm surprised on how well the ending turned out. A book for fast readers.

Great!
I read this book, along with the rest of Daniel Hayes's books and I have to say,There great!

Cozy mystery with a satisfying conclusion
Peaches Dann might be forgetful, but she's beginning to resent the labels foisted upon her by well-meaning bystanders. Deputy Wynatt insists that she's "murder prone" and it's turning out to be true.

Peaches accepted the job as a feature reporter for the small town newspaper just so she could avoid crime scenes, but when a childhood friend arrives in her office telling tales of murder and mayhem, she doesn't have much choice. Belle claims Isaiah Hubbel is responsible for the death of her husband, but he's related to half the town and Belle has no evidence.

Despite every intention to stay uninvolved in the investigation, Peaches finds Belle unconscious in the woods, then gets abducted at gunpoint by Hubbel's brother. When Isaiah turns up dead and Belle is the most likely suspect, Peaches doesn't believe she's guilty, and her own list of suspects grows longer by the minute. Using every available memory-sharpening tool, she finally remembers the clue that might give them the answers and takes off on a last minute quest, only to be ambushed by a killer intent on silencing her forever. Has she left enough of a trail for help to find her in time?

For some, Peaches Dann is an old friend. For others, she's a new but quirky heroine. Squire has crafted an amiable character whose erratic memory and her attempts to compensate are endearing, as is her propensity to follow a trail to the truth, wherever it might be found. Squire has obviously found a formula that works. Forget About Murder is not a stay-up-all-night thriller - it's a cozy mystery with likable characters, a colorful setting and a highly satisfying conclusion.

Forget about Murder
It only takes a few pages of the latest Peaches Dann Mystery to realize you are reading a writer at the top of her form. I have followed the development of Peaches from her first investigation, and Forget About Murder grips you, not only from the questions posed in that first chapter, but the power and strength of Ms. Squire's writing. Ms. Squire, tie a string around your finger or use some other memory trick, we want more Peaches!

four wheels very very good
I enjoyed this book very much. I usually don't read novels but this one is very creative, smart and easy to read. I'd recommend it to anyone with a brain.

An excellently crafted historical fiction set in 1903
Dan Spencer's Four Wheels Good is an excellently crafted historical fiction set in 1903 and the beginning of the automobile age. The Packard Motor Car Company hires foreman Tom Fetch to drive a twelve-horsepower Model F across the American continent, a feat widely believe impossible. Even so, a rival Vermont doctor on a dare is competing against Fetch - with a three-week head start! Spencer's past experience in writing for PBS television series shows through in the crisp, clear, eager prose that unfolds in this unique story about confronting challenges head-on. A highly enjoyable and exciting read. Four Wheels Good is also available in hardcover.

A charming book
Though it's been 5 years since I last read this book, it made a major impact on me. I was in fourth grade when I read (and reread!) Frankie, and it was my favorite book that year. The black and white illustrations are beautiful, and the story was delightful. The characters were interesting, as was the world, and I rooted for the main character with every challange she faced. At the same time, it was not frightening, nor violent (to my recolection). I would highly recommend this book for any child who seems interested in fantasy.

I remember this story
Mrs.Belden was my 4th grade teacher at Bird Rock. I remember her reading us many great stories. I can recall being read one of her own books. I am not sure if it is this book or her first, but it was a great book. Her incorporation of literature in the class was very influential. Now that I am a third grade teacher, I am really looking forward to reading her story in my own class. Mrs.Belden where are you?

Informative. The future of American Transportation.
This book examines the existing transportation delema that we face, with the ever bourgening automobile mode of travel. The Future of sustainable Transportation is possible with new technologies, and is outlined in this book. A must read if you are worried about the tons of pollutants that you as an individual are pumping into the atmosphere

An excellent resource for students writing reports on EVs.
This book is a must read for anyone interested in electric vehicles and their possible role in the future of the United States transportation industry. Sperling's writing style is clear and easy to understand, and his ideas are well-developed and soundly grounded in science. This book makes an excellent resource for students writing on electric vehicles (the main reason I picked it up) or anyone simply interested in electric vehicles as an alternative form of transportation for themselves or their community. After reading, the reader is thoroughly convinced that the development and promotion of electric vehicles are necessary if we are to avert the impending ecological disaster caused by polluted air and the looming gas crunch.

Outstanding!
This is among the most inspirational LDS books I have read in years. I am a longtime fan of Elder Gibbons and his books. This is another outstanding contribution to Mormon biography and literature.

Comments from the Co-Author
This is a collection of true conversion stories from converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). I am the co-author, together with my father, Elder Francis M. Gibbons, a former General Authority of the Church. Dad is a very prolific writer, with sixteen books published since 1977. This is my first published work. We came up with the concept for this book together, and then decided on the subjects. We each individually researched and wrote our respective chapters. I believe that I wrote about 30 to 35 of the chapters and Dad wrote 25 to 30. Dad and I have since commented to each other that we have a hard time distinguishing which chapters we each wrote without consulting our notes, so similar are our general writing styles. A large proportion of the chapters contain stories told for the first time in print, including a large number from individuals Dad knew and worked with from his years living in South America, and many whom I knew from my time living in Europe.

Dad continues to write nearly full time. He is 81 years old, in excellent health and with a sharper intellect and personality than he has ever had. His insights into leaders of the Church and his institutional memory of the Church is prodigous. Since completing this manuscript, Dad has finished Biography of the syndicated columnist, Jack Anderson, to be published in 2002. He has also recently finished an historical novel and is now working on a manuscript he has tentatively entitled, "The Spiritual Dimensions of America."

I continue to write in my spare time, and am currently finishing a work of fiction, which I hope to see published in early 2003.

Definitely a comprehensive course
Be aware that the preface of this book explains that it is based on a course for junior and senior college students and first-year graduate students. This book is much more than the average person will ever need. A simpler approach for people like me who just want to prepare for calculus is Geometry and Trigonometry for Calculus by Peter H. Selby.

a complete and succinct book!
A wonderful book, value for money! If you are learning geometry for interest or to prepare for competitions such as IMO, then this book is for you! The theorems and diagrams are complete and straight to the point. The author presents the informations in a succinct manner; thus it is easy for one to follow and comprehend. I guess it may be one of the most complete book on geometry in the market!
