I still found this book helpful - it demystified some things, and gave me a few new ideas - and a few more rave reviews at Easter dinner!
The only thing this book lacks (and it's probably too big a topic to cover) would be a brief examination of some of the more popular spices, what flavours they impart, and what foods they go best in/with.
VERY strongly recommended!!!

Thanks for reading! Take the stand. Be there for your kids.
Gottman is definitely not one of them. He is known as one of the leading psychologists in the area of family and marriage psychology. This book presents the essence of his research findings about raising emotionally intelligent children.
His advise is surprisingly easy and is based on a 5 step model:
1. Be aware of your child's emotion
2. See your child's emotions as an opportunity to be close together
3. Actively listen to your child and validate the feelings
4. Help your child to verbalize his feelings
5. Help your child solve problems, while setting clear limits
Gottman clearly explains how you can implement this 5-step-model in daily life and what to do when problems arise. His real life examples make reading really fun.
All in all, an excellent parenting book! As a supplement, I can also recommend the book by M. Seligman: "The optimistic child"

The answer is yes. Just when you thought there was no hope for spirituality to ever grow up, to really care about the world, to understand social, economic, and political systems, there comes from Gulag the work of Daniel Andreev.
The Rose of the World is a metaphor for what happens when a deeply compassionate writer examines the world religions and takes from them that which contributes to the recognition of the infinite, compassionate intelligence which is the source of meaning and beauty in our lives.
He uses this wisdom to sketch another possibility for organizing humanity and also to recognize the divine organization already present in our cosmos.
Read this book. It can change the way you think about spirituality. If there is a part of your heart which has been waiting for a grown up spirituality, wait no longer. This is the first review I've bothered to write for Amazon. This book is that good.
The previous reviewers have left excellent reports; one thing to add though: I've never come across another book that would be a sophisticated philosophical work and a breath-taking page-turner at the same time. It keeps just the right balance between being intelligent and intelligible - probably because knowledge itself is the best entertainment available! What is it about? - Just about everything. Is it interesting? - It bloody well is. Is it worth reading? - It is indeed, but are WE worthy of reading it?
Considering The Rose Of The World is now available by mail order world wide, we probably are.

In my view, it may not be as helpful as intended to place Mr. Tulku Thondup's workshop schedule here, as sadly, it may have the unwanted result of reducing the author's credibility in the view of the readers such as myself : ). I have no doubt that the intentions of these reviewers were good in this case... Perhaps a more succesful approach would be to post these workshop schedules on non-associated website. Thank you for listening. Peace.
It is not a book of religion but it is the book about positivity.
I would reccomend it for everyone.
It has changed my life.

The author organizes his lesson plan perfectly, showing how the primary major and minor scales are layed out on the guitar fretboard. Not only will you get the usual "here they are" dot matrix diagrams, you are also presented with a unique way to visualize and dissect these scales that allows for quicker memory uptake when it comes to key transposition. In other words, the author's insights on guitar fretboard logic are well worth the price.
Added info on attaining and sustaining technique, tone, and style while playing the modern electric guitar and amplifier makes this a must read for anyone having a love affair with their axe.

Alas, lost my copy after loaning to my son (who learned even quicker BTW and quickly passed me), especially as my time to play diminished.
Recently I wanted to reteach myself, and sought out this book...was aghast! at the fact that it is out of print...Luckily, got one of the last new ones (thru amazon). Just as good now as it was then...possibly better as I have seen in the intervening years how few 'teaching' books attain this level.
I shall cherish it for it's own value, and the memories, forever.
Net: Highly, highly, highly recommended....a great achievement by the author worthy of note on his tombstone some day...

According to the Asprin's new publisher, Meisha Merlin, the next few books, Myth Adventures 2 and 3 will both have NEW Myth Adventure novellas written by Asprin and Jody Lynne Nye. The short story in number 2 will be Myth Congeniality.
Also according to Meisha Merlin, there are at least two new Myth titles forthcoming, both of which will be by RLS and JLN. The next is due sometime in 2003 and will be called Myth-Alliances. The one after that is is Myth-taken Identity and is due August 2004.
Just thought you might want to know.
Just to warn you this is a laugh-out-loud story. I would not recommend reading this in public. You might get some odd looks from people that obviously have no sense of humor. Everything is a play on words and the characters are amazingly thought up. The plot is actually imaginable and it flows smoothly. The magik (not magic, there's a difference) has rules. What Skeeve and Aahz can and cannot do in the world of magik does not change throught the series.
To make a long review short, get this book. If you don't enjoy it then don't read it. It just means that you are a boring and unimaginative slouch. However, I can guarantee that from the very first chuckle you'll be hooked. Take it from a fantasy skeptic turned MYTH addict.
But the concept of the Myth books is fascinating, and I have gone back many times to read then again and again... Much better when you have the whole series to continue on to! But the series is a must read for anyone who considers themselves a sci-fi fantasy fan! They are hillarious and definately worth the read (I don't suggest reading them IN a library cause I always end up stiffling my snickers and laughs!)
