Great upclose of snakes and lizards!
This is a terrific book for a child just learning to read. It has enough repetition to aid in reading without getting boring. The pictures are great; up-close of snakes and lizards. It also focuses on the differences between snakes and lizards. It's just a good book that I would highly recommend!

A wonderful, fun-filled, light hearted look at enlightenment
The tales of wild crazy masters, and ordinary people on their journey of self-discovery will inspire and amaze you. Hearing about others whose journey's have been successful (in their own ways) renews one's own spiritual quest and helps you to realize that you are not alone, that life is a wonderful mystery, and although it can seem unfair, it can't hinder you if you never take anthing to heart, since it's all transient anyway!

Social Workers - Avoid Litigation
This is a vital reference book for all social workers.

As our society becomes more litigious, it is important for social workers to consider the legal ramifications of their work. Mr. Pollack has compiled a comprehensive casebook with excellent commentary about all facets of social work. This is an informative guide that will keep social work professionals from unnecessary court battles.

Highly recommended as an essential addition to all social work and law libraries!

SOE's Secret War
If you only buy one book on the history of SOE in france then this should be the one. The job was to set Europe ablaze in the words of Churchill and they were a thorn in Germany's side. The operations and agents who carried them out are described in great detail including the nightmare of capture by the Gestapo and death in the camps or by firing squad. I have had a copy for years and value it greatly.

A Must Have Book for Software Engineering
Dan and Rene have done an excellent job of recording their practical work experience in a concise form. They share their understanding of applying the UML in specifying requirements. They use many examples to illustrate their points, and include the complete specifications for a change management system so the reader can study a system in detail. This not a book on theory, but rather is an excellent practical application of the UML. I have worked with the authors for years, and cannot say enough about their knowledge and abilities. If you are interested in good requirements, the UML, or software engineering, this is a must-have book.

Concise Reference
This is an excellent text and reference about the study and examination of soils. Some chapters are difficult to read but all are packed with great information about the study of soils. The classification of soils is covered in depth with the USDA Soil Taxonomy system and less throughly with other systems. The figures and tables included are pertinent and relevant. I'd ask for more figures and tables to help illustrate topics covered in the text. Additional comparisons and analysis between classification systems would also be welcome for advanced studies of soils and environmental issues.
Still 5 stars for it's class!

Insatiably Funny - a general eye-opener!
I started reading this book with the fear that Friedenberg would start bashing particular Presidents based on their political affiliation, but I was glad to discover that he provides a critique of each leader without much bias to his own beliefs. While the tone of his narrative tends to side with the liberals, he nevertheless thoroughly scrutinizes each administration regardless of whether the leader was a republican or democrat. No president here was exempted from his criticisms. All were judged. His narratives contain numerous humorous anecdotes regarding the various presidents' personal and political follies. The information is also recent, ending with a look at the Clinton Administration and expressing some concluding remarks about what the Bush Administration might bring in the future. He focuses not only on each president's personal weaknesses, but he also connects these personal inadequacies to the president's national policies and the consequences of their failures.

His narrative is an easy read, and it is well-suited for the general public. It is not a concise academic analysis of political science and leadership. Rather, with its humor, wit, and sarcasm - this book serves more as a "wake-up call" by revealing to the public a side of the White House that is in many ways human and vulnerable to the machinations of human weaknesses and dark vices - such as immorality, corruption, greed, sexual scandals, racism, and ignorance. I mainly saw this book as a general read concerning politics, but because of the wonderful humor that it espoused, I simply could not put it down! Friedenberg's writing is crisp, vivid, smart, and funny. It was definitely a good read!

An excellent source on the Army of Tennessee Soldiers...
Finally, A book that goes into detail on the soldiers of the Army of Tennessee. This books quotes from diaries and letters from the Soldiers themselves. This is a true treasure!! I would also suggest The Army of the Heartland and Autumn of Glory by Thomas Connelly in addtion to this book. Both of these detail the Army of Tennessee from its founding until its surrender in Bentonville NC in 1865. I highly reccomend this book!!

Survivors! A Far Away Adventure
A wonderful book to take you away from wherever you live and move you to a NEW and wonderful experience. Survivors in the true sense of the word. Nothing contrived. While reading you will want to pack a backpack and a water bottle and hike with the author and his family into places most of us will never get to go. Not a travel jounal as such, but when you are finished you will feel like you could manage Tibet. Not a far off scientific quest, but when you are finished you will know more than you did when you started about the Top of the World. You will enjoy the whole walk up into the mountains. It is a great way to keep life in perspective. I bought it for myself and to give away! Enjoy!
