succeeds in its purpose
I picked up this book cos I knew SQUAT about physics...and now that I've read it, well, I still don't know much, but I know a bit more than squat. It doesn't go too deeply into any particular theory, but it is successful in condensing all the major ones into funny, easily digestible tidbits. -contains tons of tables, sidebars and anecdotes, plus book recommendations every 5 pages or so! The author(s) has a touch for breaking concepts down into everyday terms and a fine sense of humor (despite an incredibly inappropriate out-of-nowhere moral condemnation of Bill Clinton? ). It's a fun and incredibly quick read.

Exiled in the Land of the Free
Exiled in the Land of the Free provides an excellent and in depth coverage of issues extremely important to the American Indian nations within the United States. Some of the issues addressed are sovereingty, trust resposibility, and a critical look at the involvement of American Indians in the development of the USA's political system. The essays are extremely well written and quote many primary sources. It would be a very helpful tool for anyone who works in policy making decisions regarding American Indian nations.

Terrific Introduction to Game Theory Experiments
I recently used this book in an introductory course in experimental methods in political science, taught at Columbia University. (I used the book in a seminar for juniors but it would also be appropriate for first year graduate students.) The book was recommended to me by a leading experimentalist in political science, and its easy to see why. It is filled with practical suggestions, on everything from recruiting subjects, to writing instructions, to analyzing data. It's many references to the literature (as well as sample syllabi) are very helpful. It is also short and readable, and reasonably priced. One caveat: if you are more interested in the psychology tradition to laboratory experiments, there are more appropriate books. Also, it does not deal with field experiments. But if you are interested in the game theoretic/economic tradition of laboratory experiments, it is hard to beat as a practical introduction. In short, a terrific book. Exploring .Net Volume 1

Dan Appleman treads where others only glance
"This eBook is a collection of 7 original columns written by best-selling author Dan Appleman for Pinnacle's Hardcore Visual Basic.NET newsletter."

With those opening words in the eBook, you'd get the impression that the subject matter coverage would be light and/or shallow, like articles usually are... but Dan has really done a great job of delving into the depths of Cryptography, .NET String memory referencing, how to properly benchmark .NET code, etc. He's also added a few things to these versions of the articles that didn't appear in the original newsletter, so even if you own the original copies of the newsletter, you'll still want to get this eBook for the additional content.

I consider this eBook a "must have" for anyone that is a .NET developer. Nowhere else will you get such expert knowledge at such a low cost... and you won't have to wade through a hundred pages of fluff to get to the good stuff.

Federalism as Passion
The fact that most of us don't know anything about the governments we live in keeps some people thinking, maybe we should know how federalism works, indeed we live in a federalist society and this is the subject of this book, no need to be a lawyer or political science major, just the need to be interested in your way of life, and why it is the way it is.

So beautiful and poignant - Not only for children
I read the book in other language, i.e. Korean, and with other
illustration. However, this is a really beautiful story whatever language it is written in. There is an wolf who has been captured by men and put into a zoo. When he was caught, his one eye was injured, but he didn't mind because he decided that one eye is sufficient to see the sad, miserable world of men-to his eye, men are as sad and miserable as the captured animals in the zoo. There is a boy from Africa who stands in front of the wolf and look at him directly in his one remaining eye. He himself has been through a lat of sad incidents all over the Africa - in yellow, grey, and green ones. What do they see each other's eyes ? How does the wolf change his mind and accept there are something even in this miserable world worth watching with two eyes ? It's a so beautiful and poignant story (and I don't want to spoil your chance to find it^^), worth reading over and over again.

Ezekiel - Nonviolent Resister
I hard heard many times that The Book of Ezekiel was boring. Furthermore, I was told that he was not much of a prophet, when compared to Amos for example, because he was too priestly and apocalyptic. Well, after reading Berrigan's book, I know that this is not true.

I especially enjoyed Berrigan's poetic style; albeit, I wish that some of his words wer not so arcane. Boberly's art is also very good.

Non-violent, Christian activists, if you want to know about street theater, read this book!

Faces of Degeneration : A European Disorder, c. 1848-1918

Cultural historians be aware!
Pick's book is a fabulous exploration of the theme of "degeneration" in Europe leading up through the end of WWI, which is particularly useful for those with a literary or philosophical interest in modern thought. If you are looking for exacting research, in mode of traditional or exacting historiography, this book might leave you looking for more. However, what Pick lacks in depth and exactness he gains in producing a sense of the cultural discourse of "degeneration" in terms of a discursive, text-based inquiry.
