Clever but immature
This book is clever and well-written and thoroughly researched. In this sense it is a solid academic book. But it is superficial and immature, delighting in self-reference and merely reading Nietzsche against Nietzshe ('if everything is untrue is this claim also untrue?') without recognizing Nietzsche's response to this sort of thing. Rather than trying to show that he betters his subject matter, the author would have done well to consider, as any number of Continental philosophers have already done, how Nietzshce and Nietzscheans have responded to this criticism, and thus why Nietzsche is not playing a game at all.

The best sustained attack on Nietzsche I've read.
Conway turns symptomology against Nietzsche to show the ways in which his philosophy may be a "personal confession of its author and a kind of involuntary and unconscious memoir." Although Conway's conclusion relies heavily on The Antichrist as an apotheosis of what Nietzsche stands for, this is a highly compelling and careful study of Nietzsche's decadence and his theory of decadence.

Comprehensive first stop for nonprofit management issues
If you have a management issue that needs attention in your nonprofit organization, make this book your first stop. It covers a multitude of relevant nonprofit management topics, including HR, fundraising, finance, IT, etc.

I say FIRST stop, however, because the book is probably not going to provide you with detailed enough information. Some topics, like unrelated business income, are treated quite exhaustively. Others, like the chapters on accounting and on how to solve a financial problem in a nonprofit organization, were pretty light. (In the latter case, most of the chapter is spent on cutting expenses, while the ultimate solution--increasing revenues--got only a page.) Each chapter, however, has a bibliography at the end which will direct you to further resources. This was the main value of the book for me.

My advice: good reference, but check this tome out of the library.

Covers just about every conceivable topic of management
When the IRS recently took the position that special events can sometimes be taxed - for example, if an event takes six months or longer to create - U.S. fund development professionals and nonprofit managers began to ask, "Are our events going to have a problem"? and "What is the rationale for such a tax"? and "Where do I go for more information on this topic"?   If your development office had a copy of the just-published work, The Nonprofit Handbook: Management (Second Edition), you'd find your answer right there, in chapter 27, "Unrelated Business Income."  This encyclopedic volume on just about every conceivable topic on the subject of the management of nonprofit organizations is a well-thought-out collection of articles by many of the best experts on the various aspects of nonprofit management.  Indeed, its chief strength is that it covers so much ground -- covering strategic planning, human resources, communication, fund raising, information management, accounting, finance, and legal issues.   Tracy Connors, the book's editor, has done a good job in selecting the experts who have contributed articles.  Attorney Bruce Hopkins, for example, is perhaps the best known author of books and articles on the law of tax exempt organizations.  He has contributed a useful chapter on that subject in this volume.  (We'll be reviewing his book, Law of Tax-Exempt Organizations, in the future.)   In covering so much ground, the handbook at times leaves the reader wanting to delve deeper.  That was anticipated, it seems: Each chapter provides a "suggested reading" list, making the work a good launchpad for deeper study, if needed.   The Nonprofit Handbook:  Management is a valuable resource for anyone in a nonprofit organization responsible for strategic and operational management decisions.  That would include fund development officers in universities, health care organizations, arts organizations, cause-oriented nonprofits, and so forth.  It is also invaluable to nonprofit CEOs, COOs, CFOs, VPs, board members, human resources directors, and so forth.

OLD ORDER FROM ONE POINT OF VIEW
I purchased this book hoping to gain knowledge on the old order mennonites of new york, this was my first mistake. The mennonites referred to in the book are WEAVERLAND old order mennonites, I was looking for a book on the GROFDALE old order mennonites of the same area. Secondly, this book was seemingly written by someone in high school. I found the text confusing, and as someone who has mennonite and amish relatives, not everything was written from a "I understand it to be this way" point of view. I also found the author to not be totally understanding of the weaverland conference history, but was seemingly looking to find justification as to why members of that conference were joining other mennonite conference churches in the area. The book was very very disappointing. I can not recomment this book for anyone who is seriously interested in the old order mennonites, a good opportunity to explain the church and its stance on baptism, marriage, war, membership, belonging not only to a community but to a fellowship, was not examined.

Weaverland Old Order Mennonites
This is a book about the traditions and history of Weaverland Conference Old Order Mennonites. It is a very good introduction to this extraordinary religious group, and, apparently, the only one available to readers. I would recommend it to those who wish to become more familiar with Anabaptism, Mennonites, and the social science of religion.
It is important to note that the book does not claim to be about all Old Order groups. It is also a book with a strong claim about the relationship between ritual, belief, and community life. People who want to know only about Groffdale Mennonites should not necessarily buy this book (I am thinking here of a previous reviewer), though Groffdales are mentioned, as is their common history with the Weaverlanders. People who cannot handle a philosophical discussion about religion will also not want to read the book (still thinking about the previous reviewer--why did he buy the book at all?).
The book has numerous photos which seem to convey the situation of Mennonite family farmers in New York. The author's style is simple and flowing, very easy to understand.

No Strategies in Pac-Man world strategy guide
I bought this book thinking it would help me figure out an easier way to play the game and win - that's what strategies are all about. This book did not tell me anything that I couldn't figure out from playing the game. There were no helpful strategies such as where to find fruits or how to beat Toc-Man when you finally got to the end, just basically a book full of the scenery Pac-Man goes through. The only part of this book I found helpful was going through one under water world. I would not recommend this guide to anyone - just play the game and you will figure everything out for free!

Plenty of help!
I found this guide to be incredibly informative, and a ton of help. I just received a PlayStation for Christmas, and Pac-Man was my first video game for it. I'll admit, I'm not terrible familiar with video games in general. This guide walked me through the game (and yes, even told me where the fruits were). Isn't that what these guides are supposed to do? Overall I thought this books was great!

Coincidence?
This book was given to my coworker as a gift few months ago. Not sure if it accomplished its goal as a way to come to terms with death, but he commited suicide a few days ago. Coincidence? Maybe, but a very sorry outcome.

an excellent summary of end of life care
I am writing in response to the "someone read this book and killed himself" reference. I understand the pain of losing someone to suicide, and offer my condolences and compassion to the person who wrote the message. But I must say, having read this book and knowing Dr. Tobin, that there is nothing in this book that advocates suicide. Dr. Tobin spends his life giving and teaching about compassionate care for the dying in all dimensions: physical, psychological, spiritual. He is committed to the notion that dying can be a pain-free time of peace and growth.

Waste of money
The book is unpractical for the working engineer and the mathematics is simplified calculus which is not understandable to the average practicing engineer, but seems to be in favor of academic types. This is not a book for someone who wants to learn why production equipment works. The chapter on multiphase flow is its only saving grace, but any cheap paper on the subject will say as much. I would recomened the OGCI books on Production Technology. Way cheaper...way better...

Usefull Reference Book for Petroleum Engineers
This is a comprehensive and relatively advanced book in petroleum production engineering. It helps to understand important parameters that control the performance of the production system. This book explains complex concepts of engineering very easy. Last, it has been written by experienced professionals world wide well recognized in the oil industry.

Miseducation of the Filipino
Renato Constantino "Miseducation of the Filipino"

Excellent history of U.S.involvement in the Philippines
As a person interested in social justice and race relation issues, and a first time reader of Philippine history, i found the book very interesting and highly educational on the subject of the United States military, political, social, economic and cultural subjugation of the Filipino people from the year 1900 to 1986. It made me ashamed to live in the United States and benefit ( either directly or indirectly) from the subjugation of the Filipino people. It detailed the specific evil nature of U.S. foriegn policy in its quest to gain ( militarily, politically and economically) at the expense of others "misery" !!!!

So you are confused?
So you are confused eh? You want to get more confused than you already are? Do you want to mess up on your physics test and get the information more messed up then it already is? If you do, then please go right ahead. I bought this book and found it to have a reverse affect.

Pretty darn good
Although this book does not provide a wide array of problems, those it does present to the readers are thoroughly solved and explained. Potential readers should not rely on this book as a comprehensive presentation of Physics, but use it as a source of reference and clarification.

I highly appreciate the extensive nature in which the authors explain the nuances and conceptual aspects of the problems in the book. In addition, all the material is presented in a format which is very easy to read and use. I highly recommend it for anyone who needs supplemental material for the classes.

This book is boring
This book is so stupid, I mean the dude doesn't even do everything

The ELCA and its thinkers at their tradition's best.
This book is a collection of essays taken from a "free" conference that met in 1994, partially in response to the ELCA's debate over sexuality. The essays in this book offer keen observations on what it means to be a reforming church today, using insights from the gospel, Luther, and other sources, including theological, historical, and scientific.

The essays represent a number of different perspectives and personal backgrounds. Their variety and multifaceted approaches to the issues of church reform and sexuality are remarkable and refreshing. In fact, I believe that they are a testament to the reforming traditions of Jesus and Luther.

The ambience of the book is invigorating; I felt like I was in attendance at the conference. I recommend this book to Lutherans who want to feel and understand the dynamic nature of the Lutheran tradition and want to explore its possibilities. The book is easy enough for the layperson, yet contains enough substance for a theologian.

If you are a member of the ELCA and bored with the tradition (or frustrated with its gridlock), this book is highly recommended.
