An interesting book about a true American explorer
This book gives an interesting and factual account of the life of Daniel Boone and his adventures in the wilderness. The information in this book is written in a way thats easy to understand. It keeps you interested all the way through. You will learn about the many close encounters Boone has with death. This book also tells about Boone's life with the Indians in captivity. Their are many pictures in this book that help to give you a better picture of what is going on. The book begins by describing Boone's parents and early life. Here I learned many things I didn't know about Boone. Then the book tells of Boone's life after his marraige to Rebecca Bryan, and their settlement in Kentucky. It is here that you will read about Boone's expeditions with his fellow settlers and their deadly encounters with the Indians. One interesting story the book tells is how Boone rescues two of his daughters from Indian captivity. The book then tells of Boone's life after he moves away from Kentucky. Finally it tells of his tragic death from acute indigestion caused by eating too many sweat potatoes. Their are so many interesting things you will read about in this book. For example, it tells of Boone's son and his friend being skinned alive slowly by Indians. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about US explorers, or adventures in the forests. It is also a great book for book reports and projects because it has excellent pictures and key facts. In the back of the book their is even a timeline summarizing Boone's life. Anyone interested should definitely read this book!

Honest suggestions, good accompaniment
I think this book deserves at least one review, so here I go...

When I purchased it, I hoped it would help me understand vast production and offering of quality wines in the world. Well, it did not. Without color pictures, maps and other fancy illustrations I was not as keen on proceeding. That maybe tells more about my reading habits then about the book. So I bought "The New Sotheby's Wine Encyclopedia instead" which is really inspiring and I am reading it enthusiastically and gaining knowledge. At this point I am founding Daniel Johnnes's book to be good resource to help me find wine values. With tasting notes on 200 wines, hot shot producers and honest suggestions, I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on "grand vin" and still can enjoy top quality.

Deadly Blessing

A Good Book!
I personally found this book to be a good documentation of the death of Price Daniel Jr. and the subsequent events that followed. Vickie Daniel, the wife of Price Daniel Jr. was charged with murdering her husband Price Daniel Jr. Ganiel had been a State Representative and had also served as the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. He was defeated by Mark White in a race for Attorney General. His father had served as Governor of Texas. Vickie was put on trial for the murder of her husband. She was represented by the Haines firm. This was a spectacular trial that eventually wound up with Vickie's acquittal. She was next taken to court by the Daniels family over her children. She was once again represented by the Haines fir, The Daniels family were represented by J.K. Zeke Zbranek(who now serves as a District Judge in Liberty County). Once again Vickie Daniels emerged victorious. This is a very interesting book that you can really get into. Read it.

Decision Point
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (April, 2000)
Author: Steven Michael Daniel
Amazon base price: $18.95
Average review score:

A successful blending of characters and plot.
"Decision Point" by Steven Daniel falls somewhere between a solid yarn and a Tom Clancy novel. In a near future of "on-line" virtual reality, Daniel introduces a world where political powers and maneuvering have been altered by technological and geological changes. This works on the one hand, while providing a nagging distraction on the other. "Decision Point" isn't alive with the same sort of "behind the scenes" intimacy that a Clancy novel generates simply because Daniel has replaced current political and technological issues with those of a future that is slightly askew. The results are well-drawn characters but an absence of truly feeling privy to secret meetings and political intrigue. Nonetheless, "Decision Point" still works very well, and is an entertaining and engrossing read. Much like a Clive Cussler novel, the pace and story line readily makes up for minor shortcomings. I think Steven Daniel has done a great job and upon the strength of this novel, I would purchase future Daniel works (especially those involving "Decision Point's" protagonist, President Duncan Miller).

The Delights of Reading: Quotes, Notes & Anecdotes
Published in Paperback by David R Godine (January, 1993)
Authors: Otto L. Bettmann and Daniel J. Boorstin
Amazon base price: $12.95

Wonderful source for librarians, and book-lovers in general.
My copy is full of highlighted quotes and passages. I have shared those quotes with my fellow media specialists at a meeting and they all wanted to know where to get a copy. The book well illustrates that the love of reading and literature has no bounds of time or space. To whatever format books may evolve, "we should read to give our souls a chance to luxuriate", Henry Miller.
