don't even try it
well, to any of those who already have read any good max book, can realize of the poor kind of information that is in this one. I agree there's no many good books of 3d animation in spanish, and those from anaya multimedia are also very bad books, but, well.. I could tell learn some english and have some good books like the inside series from new riders.

It's a great book!
I already knew enough about 3D Studio as to make my own models. I wanted to know more, and I found this book. I think it's great, even for someone like me that already used 3D Studio a lot. It was also between the cheapest ones, so I didn't doubt when I bought it. Really nice, it does a deep coverage of each command, and I prefer Spanish (my original language) to English any day.

Disappiontment
The book is very general! There are not very many specifics about any of the reels. In fact,I personally own several reels from manufactors of reels listed in the book that are not even listed. I was very disappionted. If I would have been able to review this book in a book store,I would have not purchised it!

Antique&CollectibleFishingReels:Identification,Evaluation&
This book is of great value and interest to the collector of fishing equipment. They will know what to look for when attending swap meets and yard sales. It will also help them to make repairs if needed to their finds.

A GREAT BOOK ABOUT OLD FISHING REELS
Without hesitation I highly recommend this book. Mr. Jellison clearly provides a general primer on reel collecting and patent history. He includes thousands of value listings and I feel that the coverage of the subject is substantial, particularly in the area of reel repairs and evaluation of reel defects. A good reference for anyone interested in fishing reels of the past!

A Bad Math Book
... The layout of the book was confusing and so where theexamples and explanations. If it where not for a great math teacher Iwould have been lost in the class if I was just left to the book alone. I would recommend students and teachers (if your considering this book for your class) to stay away from it... END

excellent, much faster than I expected
Excellent seller. It arrived much faster than I expected.
Thanks a lot

Teach yourself Calculus
This book is addressed for understanding of the Calculus and not for the traditional teaching that sins for the excess of formalism. It is an excellent book for who wants to understand and to learn Calculus through the application of problems of the Real World. The book also motivates the use of graphic calculators to have a better vision of the problem.

Omits Vital Information
This book was average.Houston leaves out an important detail in that he says nothing about young Daniel Boone's part as a teamster in the Braddock Expedition to take Ft.Duquesne during the French and Indian War in 1755.While Boone did not play a significant role during the battle(by his own admission he cut loose the horses and took off shortly after coming under fire from the French and Indians)he was one of many famous personalities who were present that day.More importantly,he met one John Finley during this expedition who told Boone about the wild and unsettled lands that he had traveled to on the frontier in what is now Kentuckey.

An Elegent Gem!--Kentucky Reader
Houston's Boone is a diminutive book but one brimming with contemporary insights plus editor's annotations into frontier life featuring new stuff on Boone, hide tanning, buffalo, Indians, and early hunter anecdotes. An elegent little book with a gorgeous jacket, a highly collectable bit of old-time Kentuckiana.

Rare piece of Americana!--Western Writers of America
Murray State University (Kentucky) history professor Ted Franklin Belue discovered the only known copy of Peter Houston's manuscript about his personal recollections of the famous frontiersman, Daniel Boone, in the Lyman C. Draper papers at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin in 1990. Written in the 1840s by a friend and neighbor of Boone's, the original manuscript was stolen from the author's grandson in 1887, but luckily for future historians, the grandson had, mere weeks before the theft, mailed a copy of the lengthy work to the prolific historian, Lyman Draper. Belue has done a masterful job in presenting this rare piece of Americana to the reading public. Replete with extensive annotations and notes, a pictorial section, and an impressive bibliography, the book goes a long way in shedding light on everyday times on America's first western frontier during the 1770s and 1780s. For those of WWA's membership who believe, as I do, that "western" writing is defined as that which encompasses the entire American frontier experience, from the Atlantic seaboard to the Pacific shores, this book will provide several hours of interesting reading, indeed.--Jim Crutchfield, Managing Editor, Roundup Magazine April 1998, Western Writers of America

No native Cinderella's
Sorry, but there are no cinderella's in the native world. Not in the way this story is portrayed.

This is just one of several theme repeats the author is doing to make money. It is not representative of natives, and especially the Ojibwa.

Well composed
Although the retelling of story is not be perfectly authentic, the story flows well and and the illustrations are of good quality. It does contain some culturally accurate information and would be an excellent addition to a tasteful collecter's children's library.

A Great Book!
I loved this bok!
I thought it was a very good story and very cleaver. I liked the deepth of it and meaning. I would buy this book! It has great illlustrations and it is my favorite fairy tale/ picture book! I'm going to buy it! Even though I am almost 12 I still enjoy this book very much!

Probably not worth your money
I got very little out of this book. I think it's far too shallow to be of any practical use. There is a slight amount of theory in the first two chapters, but after that it's just a bunch of "recipes" for simulating the various topolgies. These "recipes" don't contain much useful information. If you're a beginner, you'll get lost because so much is left out. If your already an experienced power supply designer, you probably already know everything covered here. The CD has some good demo software, but you can download that stuff yourself for free.

Great Help
The book is simple an easy to follow. The Models alone are worth the price of the book.

Ready to use CookBook
To my best knowledge, the well-written book gives for the first time a comprehensive treatment of spice and switched-mode power supplies (SMPS's). A short history of modelling techniques is discussed with references to relevant literature; also some tricks to speed up a simulation are given. The main part of the book consists of the small-signal (averaged) and transient models for the most common converters, such as buck, boost, flyback, forward, half-bridge, etc.; all illustrated by examples. Most of the examples are available in electronic format on the accompanying CD-ROM; the reader can start quite quickly with experimenting with the templates. Unfortunately, extracting the models from IsSpice (which we use) is quite cumbersome, since first the demo version has to be installed before the models are available. This demo version conflicts with the commercial version (although Intusoft gives a solution on their web-site). In a next release it would be very helpful to distribute the models separately on the CD (or web?). Nevertheless, the book is according to my opinion very useful for people working in the field of SMPS's. Calculating the closed-loop response and stability analysis is now really easy. Comprehensive, easy to read. Good work.

Cheesy, like Velveeta!
What I was looking for was a summary of traditional weapons historically by Japanese warriors- you know, like these are the types of weapons, they were used by this group of people, during this era, ect. Instead, what arrived in the mail was a rather tabloid-y book with a loud cover of some Hollywood "Ninjas" in fighter stance and the banner "secrets revealed!" streaming across the top. The inside consisted of a bunch of fuzzy photographs obviously taken in someone's backyard of a couple of ordinary looking white guys play fighting. This is the bulk of the book. Few words, and fuzzy photographs. If I picked this off of a shelf in a conventional bookstore, I never would have bought it. The few paragraphs worth of information it does give in the entire book are interesting (and are the reason I'll give this book two stars as opposed to the one star I really think it's worth), but sadly not enough to make the purchase of this book worthwhile. Choose a different title. You'll be happier.

He could do better!
This is a very interesting book about the Japanese Ninja but it is also not a very good book. The photos are blurry at the best of times making instruction hard to follow. Also some of the topics covered are scantly reviewed. But the good point is that there is a lot of interesting reading here and for traditional ninjutsu fans it would be a good buy. Everybody else avoid it. This was one of the first books that I ever bought at a very tender age of 10. At the time I was going through Ninja madness. A martial artist of Charles Daniel's ability and knowledge can do better.

Weapons... we've got weapons!
Flexiable Weapons, Surprise Weapons, Battlefield Weapons, Blade and Chain Weapons, Impact Weapons... this book gives the reader a sense of the depth that a modern day ninja's weapons training curriculum can provide. Martial Artists and ninja students, how else can we hope to defend our-selves against weapons without first having an accurate knowledge of how they are applied. This book is excellent!

Robinson Crusoe
Robinson Crusoe written by Daniel Dafoe is the most tedious and boring book I have ever read. Of course just like any other book it had its occasional good points, but the repeating settings and descriptions got very old very quickly. At first you think It is going to be a great read, very descriptive and entertaining but for me Around the time he got sick It became more than a chore to read this. Also the book is very "far-fetched" just due to the fact that he survives so many life risking events; Shipwreck, Severe Illness, Starvation, Slavery, Escape, Cannibals, Hundreds of Wolves. It just seemed like he had a "deal with the devil" and I dont' find reads of this type very enjoyable, they are predictable.
Ok enough bashing I did enjoy parts of the book such as when they would go into detail of how he created things and myself being an "outdoorsy" person I found it interesting debating within myself to see whether or not i could accomplish the same tasks that he completed. Also I liked how he was able to create such a flourishing environment for himself, his animals and, Friday. Another part I liked was how Crusoe was able to teach Friday his type of speech and life styles. It would be almost unfathomable how hard it would be to relate to a person that you would have no common ground or no ideas on how to communicate with them. Overall i give the book a 5 out of 10 only because he was able to make me feel as if i was living on the island viewing Crusoe and that is a feet within itself.

Unhurriedly Pragmatic Adventure Story
In the literary world it is perhaps blasphemy to say a bad word against Daniel Defoe's most acclaimed novel. So here goes. The fact that the book was originally titled The Life And Strange Surprising Adventures Of Robinson Crusoe illustrates the major flaw in Defoe's literary form. Put simply, this would be a far more interesting and gripping story were it not so superfluously lengthy. The author makes a habit of repeating himself, especially when it comes to the act of dispatching kittens, which seems to be more of an obsession here than octogenarian ladies are to MatronsApron. It is difficult, you may think, to keep the subject matter fresh when describing the daily tribulations of a fellow stranded on an island for thirty years, without occasionally repeating yourself. True, but perhaps a straightforward solution to this diminutive quandary would be to simply truncate the duration of the story. There are some wonderfully intriguing and suspenseful moments, and some juicy action to boot, but sadly these are gratuitously diluted by lengthy descriptions of the unremarkable everyday goings on in Crusoe's life, and rather than serving to build up the suspense, they merely obstruct the reader's relationship with the more exciting parts of the story.
However, those with more patience than my ignorant self will find in Robinson Crusoe a delightful tale, which as well as being a fictional documentary of the most unusual thirty years of Mr. Crusoe's life, also has time to ponder upon philosophical and theological ideas, in a style that makes the reader feel as if they are involved in the conflicts between the functionalist and cynical thoughts going on in Crusoe's mind. It may not be a gripping white-knuckle adventure, being rather more leisurely and acquiescent, but it is still rather easy to see why Robinson Crusoe is regarded by some as one of the greatest novels of all time.

Robinson Cursoe
The book Robinson Cursoe by Daniel Defore is a very good book. It is a very adventurous and spellbinding work of art. The book is about Robinson Cursoe, a man that disobayed his parents and ventured out to sea. Robinson got stranded on a island secluded from civilization. He made a life for himself trying to survive. He faced many dangers and peril trying to find a way to escape. Then he finally found a way to escape back to civilization. I liked this book very much, it was very adventurous and thrilling. I would recommend this book to people with an open mind and with a good sense of adventure.

Under The Table
The content is worth only one star, but there are some nice photos, so I'll concede to two. Most of the book is conjecture, and opinion. There is very little evidence of any research going into this title. Not a single outside source, article or book is cited. I think you can learn more about contemporary American furniture design from browsing eBay furniture auctions or reading furniture store catalogs than reading this book.

The only good content is the occasional biography of current designers, and these are few and far between. The books places emphasis on upcoming "third generation" designers, but really fails to discuss where they will come from or what is in store for American design.

I felt like the editors just wanted to put together a fantasy catalog of items they would like to have in their homes, and the book lacks an altogether purpose.

And to top it all off, the design and layout is sub-standard for such a remarkable subject. I don't recommed it to anyone.

Concise & Resourceful
From the outset, this book is small compared with many other fine furniture books but its content doesn't lag behind & even surpasses many other offerings by its sheer resourefulness & succinctness. The layout could be defined as multi-media with clean fonts used, abundant of embossed pictures & diagrams used, highlighted quotes by prominent furniture designers. Even though this is an American Contemporary Furniture Book, which emphasises upon the trends of the West, the Middle, & the East of the States, the influential furniture designers originated from elsewhere (other countries) such as Karem Rashid, M. Ali Tayar, & many others. This book addressed the reason United States is still lagging behind its European counterpart is because of the majority Americans, which still cling to its colonial heritage; the lack of infrastructure, network, & the emphasis upon designers. Even though Karem Rashid is gradually going towards super stardom with support from Umbra, United States still doesn't have designers with superstar status equivalent to Philippe Starck, Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sotsass, & so forth. It then continued to say that United States is gradually warming up to contemporary futniture with the emergence of the "3rd generation", a hybrid between the modernism & the post modernism schools, & influenced by global consumerism & dematerialisation. Suffice to say that examples provided in this book is broad, index of designers & furniture & selected stores at the end of the book come in handy. To justify United States as a huge melting pot infused by many ideas from all fronts, which trascends into its contemporary furniture, we wouldn't have to wander far than noting the authors & editors of this book, who come from diverse backgrounds & interests. I thoroughly enjoyed this book & would recommend anyone who wants to have a general interest in the contemporary furniture movement in United States or simply furniture enthusiast to seek it out. Enjoy!

Looking good
The sleek American Contemporary Furniture convincingly asserts that our tables, chairs, bookcases, and wastebaskets are looking mighty handsome these days. The visually rich project offers plenty of representative proof that the current generation of American furniture designers are coming into its own. The earnest and sometimes lighthearted examples of modernist-inflected pieces are grouped regionally. New York, of course, is a focus - with nods to superstars like Karim Rashid, Maya Linn, and others - but S.F.-based coeditors Raul Cabra (whose graphic design studio created the eye-tickling look) and Dung Ngo wisely acknowledge how decentralization has affected the furniture design world. American Contemporary Furniture is notable for giving international props to a vital community of West Coast furniture makers, a good portion of them working in modest Bay Area workshops. The book's an extremely welcome showcase for designers such as Jeff Covey (whose cast aluminum stool graces the sets of a top-rated sitcom), Pablo Pardo, John Randolph, Jeff and Larissa Sand, and Bruce Tomb, who are among the core of San Francisco's vital and integrity-filled design community.

PLan 4 sucess in the gym
BOOK REVIEW: Avery's Sports Nutrition Almanac

Every day in school everyone is talking about going to the gym, buying supplements at GNC and the Vitamin shop. Looking good by having a solid body has taken over the minds of adolesents. High school kids today are obssesed with getting "ripped" or "huge". Some kids that are athletes take good supplents and "hit the weights" on a normal scheduale, On the other hand, other kids who do not have a clue spend lots of money on athletic supplements they see on TV, hear about from others, and just get jealous about the "ripped" kids. Those are the ones that usually get hurt and give up anyway. I am also part of that group that likes to improve my muscle tone. I saw a book called, Avery's SPORTS Nutrition Almanac written by E. Burke, and D. Gastelu. It is a basic reference manual that offers tips, guidelines, and advice for a wide range of sports-nutrition subjects. Because I do competitive Judo and wrestling--and nutrition is very important to me as a way of building strength-- this book will come in handy to me while I train.

The organization of the book makes it easy to use. It is broken down by sections like weight training, carbohydrates, protein, and profiles. You can look up the specific topic you are interested in and find information about it fast. The first topic I read was on protein and carbohydrates. I learned how these two elements are essential in an athletes' diet. Athletes that run like marathon runners require lots of carbohydrates; on the other hand an athletes like power lifters require lot's of protein.

Avery's sports Nutrition Almanac is a little too complicated for an athlete that just wants to eat right and perform well. The book talks a lot about the biological section of sports nutrition. One thing I learned is the how a muscle is formed. First a group of Amino Acids conbine to make a protein, then those proteins come together to form a muschle tissue. Thia all occurs in an athlete's sleep.

This book is great for an athlete who wants to improve his or her performance by getting proper nutrition. I reccommend this to athletes who compete nationally or internationaly. Sports Nutrition is being updated almost every six months. One supplement that may be considered effective today, may not be tomorrow. Avery'ssports nutrition Almanac ,is the most current in sports nutrition .A complete and up to date guide to effectiveness sports nutrition and fitness can be yours!

I Was Surprised...This is an Excellent Book.
...It was pretty well buried and anonymous. For these reasons I thought I was probably taking a big chance in buying this book, and that ultimately, I would be disappointed. To the contrary, I have been pleasantly surprised. I still don't get why this isn't a runaway bestseller for athletes, but here's my take on the book. Pros: Extensive information on Carbs, Proteins, Amino Acids, Fats, Water, Vitamins, Minerals, Electolytes, Supplements and even ergogenic Herbs (there is no info on steroids). The strength, I find, in this book is its authoratative tone, and drilling down to reveal esoteric facts. The authoratative tone isn't just evident in the language [the book having been very well edited], but in the knowledge presented. As a strength athlete (bodybuilder) I already know some lesser known facts about nutrition. To have those lesser known facts presented to me in this book makes me trust all the other information in the book that I didn't know. We're not talking about fads or unproven, hyped supplements, but reliable info on which supplements are likely to help, and at what doses. The high-profile supplements are covered (e.g., creatine, ribose, tribulus terrestris, MSM, NADH, HMB, and many, many more), but in a way that is neither pro- nor anti-supplement. You get fair, unbaised opinion on whether the supplement works or not, with case studies cited. There's also an excellent glossary. And there's a very useful website appendix to further your investigations. Lastly, reference sources are cataloged. On the Con side: This is a nit, but there's a section on Who's Who in Sports Nutrition. I disagree with some of the entries, and didn't feel everyone had been covered, but, by nature, this is bound to be subjective; you may find it's just perfect. Also, there's advice sprinkled throughout the book that borders on a recommendation for certain supplements by brand name. I honestly don't think this is because of any tie-ins with the publisher or authors...mostly because they mention numerous and competing brands...but it is a little off-putting at first; at least until you let your guard down and accept it as honest opinion. Anyway, this is a tremendous resource for sports nutrition, and I especially recommend it for my brothers and sisters (there is much on female-specific nutrition) in the iron game. Naturals, in particular, should run...don't walk, to get this book.
