The best 'Used Car' book I've found... ~c:)
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It not only does a thorough overview of many different makes and models of cars and reviews things like 'overall buy', 'crash testing', etc. But it also gives a 10 point check on how to check out a used car to see if it worth taking to a AAA Diagnostic before getting the diagnostic.

If you want to save hundreds / thousands of dollars on future repairs, this is the book to get!

Requirement for any wildlife manager
As wildlife managers change their focus away from soley hunting and angling opportunities, there is an increased focus on the human dimensions of wildlife. Deckers work has served to advance the field of human dimensions of wildlife by bringing together works by the best authors in the field.

This book should sit between to Principles of Wildlife Mangagement and the Petersons Field Guide to Birds. This book provides a basic overview of human interaction with wildlife and how it relates to wildlife conservation and management.

"A Vast Sea Of Misery" first book of its kind
Being the great-great grandson of one of the surgeons mentioned in this book I had a special interest in this book. Over the years books abut Gettysburg have always been about the military strategies involved, key players in the battle, etc. Nothing was ever truly written about the aftermath of the battle the dark side of war with all it's carnage and bloodshed. As Walt Whitman once said "the real war will never get into the books" that is until now. Gregory CoCo's "A Vast Sea Of Misery" is the first real book of its kind and long over due. Much of the battlefield has been saved from destruction over the years with the exception of the hospital sites. Many of these sites have been lost forever to real estate developments and shopping centers. Mr. CoCo set out to document the 162 hospital sites in and around the Town of Gettysburg not only as a record for future generations but in the hopes that its readers would care enough to maybe save some of the surviving sites from future development. These hospitals were truly the second battle of Gettysburg with over 21,000 maimed, wounded, and dying soldiers fighting for their lives. The surgeons of these hospitals along with the townspeople, ambulance corpsman, nurses, and civilian agencies who supplied medicines, foodstuffs, and care for the wounded soldiers on both sides are some of the real unknown heroes of Gettysburg. Mr. CoCo does an excellent job of not only identifying the location of these hospital sites through photographs and maps, but takes you back 138 years into these field hospitals through the eyes of many of the actual participants of this great struggle for survival. My great-great grandfather's Union Second Corps Hospitals had over 3260 wounded with only 14 doctors to take care of them. They worked virtually around the clock to save the human refuse of war. This book is a fitting tribute to those who not only fought and died at Gettysburg, but who gave of their time, money, talent, and skills to save so many lives. This book is certainly not the whole story of this struggle for survival and Mr. CoCo points this out. He states "It is my anticipation that a Vast Sea of Misery will serve as only a forerunner of a more complete and elaborate work by some other writer in a not-too-distant day". This book is a must read for students of the Civil War and those just plain interested in what the aftermath of battle is all about. You won't be disappointed.

Bet you can't eat just one...
The recipes in this book are easy to read and follow and taste great, particularly the biscuits! Many very traditional southern style ideas here! A fair representation in all areas, soups, deserts, side dishes, etc. Ingredient lists are simple. Most you probably have on hand and other items can be easily purchased at grocery or local health food stores. My only complaint is the lack of photos to accompany each recipe. Many recipes are in both vegan and raw food versions. I think that this will be a great way to introduce raw foods in my home!

find out what's frustrating the democratic process
When I first picked up this book I thought it was another book on the events of the 2000 election. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down--a fascinating read. It starts with the events of the 2000 election and goes on to show how these were just symptoms of a more pervasive problem--of the Constitution repeatedly frustrating the public will and perverting the democratic process. You won't look at the Constitution or the Senate in the same light again.

An excellent story of both mystery and suspense.
While Ventry may not be on the same grand scale as say Stephen King,it does manage to convey a skillfully structured storyline. With twists and turns on each page, Daniel Lynch leaves you on the edge of your seat right to the very end. A good suspense novel well worth reading it will be enjoyed by mystery and suspense fans everywhere.

Interfaith battle-cry against consumerism and globalization
"If religions today stir the heart and produce experiences of enlightenment and joy but say nothing to our eco-crisis, they are tinkling brass and sounding cymbals." "...to earn a place back in the movement of life, they must pass the most honest of intellectual tests, the so what? test." And so begins this all out scholarly gang warfare attack on consumerism and the ecological crisis in Visions of a New Earth: Religious Perspectives on Populations, Consumption, and Ecology. By lucidly explaining and describing the present-day situation of our earth, this book offers the perspectives of all the major world's religions (including African religions) regarding globalization, overpopulation, and the environmental degradation. The book is a compilation of about thirteen essays from scholars who are either experts about a specific religious tradition, or are experts about globalization and consumerism (the worship of consumable material goods). While the entire book is a must-read, the second chapter by David Loy entitled, "Religion of the Market Place" offers its readers the best and most passionate attack on the consumerism to date. Loy shows us that most Westerners have equated material with the sacred, and live as though it is material and the money which buys material which will offer us the salvation of "happiness." However, he reminds us that the salvation of permanent happiness is never actually attained through consumable materials; they must always be replaced with newer and flashier models and thus put us consumers into a pathetic state of addiction and dissatisfaction. This book shows us, with blaring facts and prose, that the world we are living in today is in a crisis state in which 2.9 million people in Chicago consume more than 90 million people in Bangladesh, and where this religion of consumerism is being forcefully exported to the rest of the world through globalization. Furthermore, it leaves its reader which a sophisticated understanding about how the religious worldviews of the world's religions regard these issues, how they have helped, and how their specific teachings can be used to help. Truly an outstandingly informative book and truly an inspiring battle cry to fight against the present abuses against the earth and all of its residents.
