The Seventy Weeks Of Daniel (Prophetic Series)
Published in Paperback by Jay & Associates Publishers (05 November, 1990)
Authors: Marjorie B. Matheny, James F. Matheny, Kathy McClurg, and Debra Esolen
Amazon base price: $9.95
Average review score:

If you love prophecy, you won't be able to put it down.
I have read all the Mathenys' books, and each
one makes a special contribution to the study
of prophecy. But this may be my all-time favorite.

For years, Bible students have known that there
is more to discover in the realm of prophecy, and
this book resolves so many of the issues
that we have struggled with.
I like best its consistent adherence to the
Bible's original text, even though the findings contradict prevailing evangelical opinion.
As always, the Mathenys' writings are for those
who really want to understand God's Word.

Sexual Culture in Ancient Greece (Oklahoma Series in Classical Culture, Vol. 24)
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Oklahoma Pr (Trd) (November, 1900)
Author: Daniel H. Garrison
Amazon base price: $29.95
Collectible price: $25.41

Stands well alone as a college-level survey
Sexual Culture In Ancient Greece adds to the university's series in classical culture, but stands well alone as a college-level survey of early religious and sexual culture in ancient Greece. Art from the earliest periods accompanies a discussion of nine successive stages of Greek sexual culture, using passages from Biblical, Near Eastern and Greek literature to trace ideas of sexual culture in regional civilizations. The only comprehensive survey of Greek sexual culture.

SF Writer Excellent Source for Research Papers
I was required to buy this book for a Senior Composition Class and I have found it extremely helpful in my writings. It is a great resource for term papers and includes all the background information on the various forms of Documentation, including MLA. It also highlights grammar, overall style, and punctuation. I would highly recommend this for any college student or anyone who needs a reliable source for term paper writing.

In SF/UK: How British Science Fiction Changed The World, Daniel O'Brien maintains that science fiction is largely an invention of British authors; spiced with the peculiar visions and unique perspective of British authors. This examines works of the earliest writers through modern times and is based on the Channel Four series, examining the future as depicted by British writers. Very enjoyable
If you are a lover of the various shakespeare film adaptations then you will certainly love this book. Mr. Rosenthal describes numerous films some direct adaptions and some which are just plan fun (Joe Macbeth for instance ). The bard should not be taken so seriously that fun cannot included in his study. This book explores the good and not so good. A great reference source.

A Unique Time in Michigan History
Fascinating, and objective recount of when the two sides of the aisle were forced to work together. Great moment capturing photos by David Trumpie. All around great reading for political and non-political junkies. I highly recommend this book for state legislators and their staffs!

Shattered Peace: The Origins of the Cold War

Still the best account of the origins of the Cold War
Is this book a 'classic'? If it isn't then I don't know what would qualify for the name. A breath of fresh air when it was first released, it quite nicely debunked the existing interpretations of Liberal National, New Left and (rather fratricidally) the earlier Realist historians. It is meticulously researched and easy to read - it deserves a place on the shelf of every person with an interest in the international affairs of the 20th century, especially as it is now within the price range of most buyers.

Jim Daniels: one of America's best
Come on people! I--devotee of Whitman, Stevens, Hart Crane, Kenneth Fearing--have looked high and low for great living American poets. Jim Daniels is definitely one. Daniels is remarkably hard hitting, funny, empathetic. He writes about work, race, religion and family. But it is his craft--music and imagery--that separate him from the pack. This book, unlike most contemporary poetry books, will stay with you after you close the covers. So buy it.

B.K Smith: Exploring the Metaphysical and Mundane
Although the name B.K. Smith is not a household word today, her talents have been widely recognized by the literary community. Sideshows, her collection of short stories, is one of the most impressive and important works of literature to come from the South since Eudora Welty. Ms. Smith creates characters with whom we can identify and often whom we feel we know. The characters in Sideshows face mundane concerns in the tradition of true Southern realism. But unlike Southern Gothic, these characters somehow manage to continue in the face of enduring pain. Her characters are like most of us: alive and triving, but with an overwhelming sense that something in life is missing. These charcters learn to manage their disappointment with a fascination to detail in their surroundings. Setting is paramount to this work and often takes the reader into a surrealistic world. After studying this work and considering its symbolism, the reader is left with an overwhelming feeling that he/she has just traveled from the metaphysical plane. Only a second reading of the collection will assure you that you are right. B.K. Smith is a talented writer and there are many people waiting for her next book. Often we overlook the genius of our contemporaries, but Ms. Smith is admired and respected by her peers. Today, this collection is taught on many college campuses throughout Alabama. As both a critic and a teacher of literature, I can assure you that B.K. Smith is a writer you will hear much more from in days to come.
