I liked the "atmosphere" of this book as it was not just another book by a money-hungry socialite looking for fame. The experience behind this book made me trust that the information was real and not highly opinionated by a non-medical person. Who knows better than someone who peers into the human body on a day to day basis?
I loved the art and the personality of the book as well. Although if I could change one thing I would have either had the before photos with make up or the after photos without. I favor photos which are of the same substance and lighting for comparison, but still - kudos to Dr. Daniel Man!

Still, this is probably the best book on the subject for those who want to incorporate astrology into their magical practices. (The best, at least, until I finish my own book on the subject :) ). I've got a good grasp of astrology and I discovered a few things here I didn't know yet. If you're a Wiccan or Ceremonial Magician and you want to get a basic introduction to astrology from someone who is both an astrologer and a practicing magician, this is definitely a solid read. As I said, the layout and the writing are sometimes lacking ... but it's still a worthwhile book. As Daniels rightly points out, today many astrologers are trying to become "scientists" and shying away from the amulets and talismans which were such an important historical part of astrology. Kudos to Ms. Daniels for bringing astrology back to its roots :)

The illustration are what we have come to expect from the Pinkwaters. Light, minimal, but sufficient. The dogs are sweet and personable. The Aunt is eccentric but someone any adventureous child would love to have visit.
Don't forget, Daniel Pinkwater writes affectionate, hilarious books for adults too!

For beginners, I recommend "3D Studio Special Effects/Book and Cd Rom" while this book is more for users with a solid grip on 3D Studio.

As has been noted, "Time without Number" was justly lauded by the modernist titan, poet Marianne Moore; and Berrigan's second volume prompted Moore to exclaim, "I read with reverence anything Fr Berrigan writes"; indeed, the poems of "Encounters" are unsurpassed, esp "Trees: October" and "A Statue of the Blessed Virgin Carved in Wood" with its initial line "Wood is noble when it forgets resemblance." There is, too, a poem which ends with the lines "is flown, is fled, is spent / skeleton : element."
Up until about 1964, the poems were poems and not slogans. In fact, Berrigan is perhaps at his best when he pays tribute to other poets, notably Wallace Stevens and Gerard Manley Hopkins. Berrigan's hymns to Hanoi are virtually indistinguishable from the great glut of anti-war matter that was written at this time, and his elegy to Thomas Merton -- though evidently heartfelt -- is slack, sprawling, and aesthetically infirm (the last lines, something about lotus blossoms) are just plain dippy.
In the later work, it helps the reader if she or he is sympathetic to Berrigan's political Weltanschauung, but there are felicities: Berrigan's lean athleticism of language, and way with a pleasing embedded rhyme or calculated dissonance, are knacks which serve him well.
But the priest/poet does, too often, confuse sloganeering with art, and that is a foible we find somewhat difficult to ignore.

Unfortunately, it falls way short in motivating the USE of the MOP. It shows how it is implemented, and has some examples of how to modify its behaviour. Which is wonderfully useful if your interest is in building your own implementation of MOP. It is not nearly so useful if you're trying to figure out how to apply it to less extraordinary purposes.
To that end, Keene's book on CLOS, which demonstrates quite a number of usage examples, is a vital companion...

I found the book to be a bit lacking on some dimensioning and planning details and methodologies though.
Overall, it's a good book to reference with.
