Ordinary people who produce extraordinary things
The best account of the duo's rise to fame, infamy and institutionalisation that you can buy, this is a warm-hearted biography of their life and work up until the mid-90s. The revelation that George was once married and led a relatively normal family life does nothing to dispel the suspicion that the pair remove their suits over the weekend and retire to the countryside anonymously. Certainly, the appear to have spent most of the 1970s being drunken party animals. It's amusing to listen to lots of critics initially finding them amusing, then alarming, then deeply moving, then warm and lovable, according to critical fashion. As with their art, the book has a melancholic air to it, as the author sadly passed away shortly before completion (the book stops rather abruptly and is finished with some travelogue essays on their exhibitions abroad). The closing observation by the pair that Farson did not realise how much they liked him is deeply sad. It's big and thick and well-written, and there is a nice selection of photographs. Best of all, you can order it from Amazon.co.uk for considerably less money than it costs to buy it here!

This book is as good as it gets!
This book is good for learning rythm interpretation. The language is simple and straight foward. Unlike many books I have come across, this one is cleanly arrnaged. I was doing my ACLS for the first time and I passed it! Credit goes to this book. I have ordered 10 copies so far for my workmates.

Beginning to understand
Even though some formulations are still somewhat abstract for the average beginner the concepts of fine art will become clearer after reading the book. It is especially useful to understand the modernist movements, with its complex theories and ideas. The inclusion of philosophies, by "name-brand" philosophers; furthermore, helps the reader to tie the concepts together.

Good for Spectrometer Optics
This book has some unique features. It treats the subject matter carefully, and in detail. The content is very useful. The treatment of spectrometer optics is particularly useful. The weakness of the book is that the diagrams are not well done, and the notation can be confusing. Overall, a useful book.

Ophthalmology atlases
This is a very useful atlas, almost but not quite on par with the Spalton atlas. I found the Spalton atlas to have more complete text descriptions, although this atlas has excellent photographs. This is a very useful tool for the ophthalmologist, whether practicing or in training.

Attila the Pun : a Magic Moscow story
Published in Unknown Binding by Four Winds Press ()
Author: Daniel Manus Pinkwater
Amazon base price: $
Used price: $4.50
Collectible price: $4.87
Average review score:

Great follow-up of Pinkwater's classic 'The Magic Moscow'!
Having been a fan of the original 'Magic Moscow' tome as a kid, I eventually started picking up a few of Daniel Pinkwater's other efforts as well. One of my faves was the follow-up Magic Moscow story, 'Attila the Pun'. I loved the playful use of words, the weird culinary combinations, and the wonderful sense of fun that this new story shared with its predecessor. Throw in a goofy supernatural element- a wisecracking, really-bad-joke-reciting Hun ghost summoned from the great beyond- and you've got... well, something pretty weird and wonderful.

Even though this particular book is twenty years old, I still believe it'll make for good reading for today's elementary school-age child. Fair warning, though: this book has a few things that'd be considered un-PC nowadays, including smoking (the 'Hungarian Boy Scout Lunch' chapter). It also features a bit of magical conjurings & sorcery, which has gotten the more contemporary 'Harry Potter' books emboiled in controversy with some folks. But, aside from these things, I think the book will be quite an enjoyable read for the kiddies-and for adults who like a nice, light, whimsical adventure every now and then.

Insightful look at Christianity, makes you laugh and think
Great book for anyone who likes to question those things that are usually taken on faith. Also a great example of how histories based on oral tradition can evolve into more than they should be. Not for the religiously narrow minded!

Insight to Skinner
This is a good primer of Skinner's life. It provides clarification regarding the origin of Skinner's ideas and charts the course of his personal and intellectual development through his career.
