Great Scott!
Churchill's ministerial brilliance overshadowed his literary achievements to such an extent that many don't realize that he was a writer. Da Vinci's talents as an inventor, painter, and sculptor fully eclipsed his terrific accomplishments as a musician and lyrist. Likewise, Scott is widely portrayed as being little more than a chortling meterologist, one known mainly for trumpeting the birthdays of elderly viewers in between his forecasts. This tome gives the lie to this perception, revealing Scott as a thoughtful writer, as well as an unabashed patriot. For sweet America herself in all of her vastness is Scott's own 'hood - and he's that homeboy on the corner, layin' down rhymes, hookin' down forties, pullin' out his jammy, and aiming it at the sky.

America's Best Classrooms: How Award-Winning Teachers Are Shaping Our Children's Future

BEST for teaching insight
Daniel & Terry Seymour have a great collection of stories and ideas from teacher's of the year. As a first year teacher I enjoy reading it to find some interesting things to try in my own classroom. The opinions that are voiced in this book are those of teachers in the "real world." Parents that are concerned about classroom management and how their kids should be taught should read this book to get an idea of what is a "good" classroom. The book is very easy to read with little extras in each chapter. I recommend it to anyone interested in education and kids of all ages.

It's time for real democracy
If you feel disenfranchised as a citizen and voter in America, this book may provide the answers you're looking for. Indeed, the consolidation of power in Washington, economic uncertainty, social erosion, and the 2000 presidential election debacle prove the need for election reform, more democracy and voter participation in self-government. It's time for us to re-examine ourselves. And it's time for real democracy.

American Courts

Every American Should Own This Book
This really is a fantastic book. Professor Meador, having spent half a century as a teacher at one of the world's finest law schools and as a consultant and advisor to legal scholars and judges from state courts to the Supreme Court, manages to speak to everyone who hasn't had the opportunity to attend law school. Reading this book won't make you a lawyer, but you will understand exactly what happens in our court systems - a must for new law students, foreign lawyers and anyone interested in how their nation's legal systems work. It was an invaluable help in my first year of law school, and worth every dime.

Take-along Travel Guide
I can't say enough about how useful this Travel Smart guide was on our recent trip to the Southwest. As Daniel Gibson claims, he only includes the best of what there is to see and do, only the best places to eat and stay. All this info is rated 1-4 stars and we found the ratings to be surprisingly accurate compared with our own opinions. The book is so organized that it's easy to find what you're looking for; places are cross referenced for easy research. We kept the book with us and read ahead about what was coming up as we traveled. Prices were either right on or close to present charges. Descriptions were interesting and fun to read, and detailed enough to help us decide whether or not we wanted to stop at each attraction. If you only want to take one book along on your next trip to the southwest, you won't go wrong with this one.

Great study book!
This is one of the most practical, easy-to-read commentaries available on Proverbs. I highly recommend it. The book also gives the reader much insight into the ancient culture and customs of the day in which it was written (which is essential if one is to fully understand the book of Proverbs).

Angelic Revelations of Divine Truth, Vol. I & II
These books satisfied my need to put God and Truth in a logical place in my life. I honor the search for truth and the discoveries of science. The messages in these volumes underscore how science and religion work hand-in-hand to open my eyes to see the truth of who I am as a human being with a spiritual nature.

Some Brutal Punches...
Disturbing and intoxicating (literally you might need a drink during or by the end). Lets just say I had to seek some lighthearted form of entertainment soon after reading the book. My advice is to read it in doses since the content is pretty heavy but definitely worth buying.

The Anglo-American Legal Heritage: Introductory Materials
Published in Hardcover by Carolina Academic Press (April, 1999)
Author: Daniel R. Coquillette
Amazon base price: $70.00
Average review score:

Brilliant history of the Anglo-American legal tradition
I was a student in Professor Coquillette's English Legal History course last year, and we used his book as the single source for our study. The book is largely a collection of a vast array of original sources, carefully explained and placed in historical context by Professor Coquillette. The book is like his lectures: clear, concise and fun. After struggling through the first year of law school, the Anglo-American Legal Heritage tied the morass of contracts, torts and property together into a comprehensible whole. The law cannot be understood without the proper historical context -- Prof. Coquillette's book is the best single source for that context.
