The Scholarship Book 2001: The Complete Guide to Private-Sector Scholarships, Fellowships, Grants and Loans for the Undergraduate

UGGGH!
Skip this dog. Cassidy has about 150 scholarships organized over and over again in different categories (like engineering, nursing, earth science, general, etc.). The index is a good idea because it breaks down scholarships by category BUT if a scholarship is good for engineering and nursing it is listed twice in the engineering index and twice in the nursing index; so you end up seeing the same scholarship over and over. Also, it says it has a searchable CD-ROM - guess what, it is a pdf copy of the book and you are the search engine - the book is faster for the little bit it offers. College board or Fastweb are much better - they are also online and free if you don't need the book. Fast web gives you email updates of new scholarships after you register.

Skip this one
This book has lots of scholarship & award information but it wasn't useful. It did not give enough information. I needed to consult other sources. Also, the book was faster to use than the CD. Skip this one, I didn't find it helpful at all.

Premier Press should be embarrassed for publishing this book
This is easily the worst computer-related book I have purchased in long time. I am a Sun Certified admin for Solaris 7 & Solaris 8, and I bought this in Feb. 2003 to help prepare for the new Sun Certified Security Administrator Beta Exam, as well as to help familiarise myself with some of the improved security features in Solaris 9, because it was one of the first books out that claimed to be focused on Solaris 9 security. In addition to being INEXCUSABLY riddled with technical errors (as if that weren't bad enough), the writing style is atrocious; it reads like a bad grammar-school book report (actually, worse). I'm serious. If I didn't feel so [taken advantage of for purchasing this garbage], I might actually feel sorry for the publisher for having been duped into publishing it. Trust me, it's REALLY BAD. The publisher (Premier Press) should be ashamed of themselves for not doing their homework. Fat chance I would ever consider buying a book published by them again.

Very poor security book
I am Solaris 9 certified and a Checkpoint-certified "Security Expert." I am also a GIAC-certified Intrusion Analyst. In my professional opinion, this is simultaneously one of the worst security books AND one of the worst Solaris books I have ever seen.

The author's "credentials," as mentioned in his bio, are almost entirely Microsoft-centric, with no mention whatever of Solaris in any way. And believe me, it shows.

I didn't (couldn't) finish the book, but I read or skimmed perhaps half of it and found dozens of errors -- often one or more on each page. Often, the discussions are muddy at best -- e.g., the "explanation" of PAM concepts.

This book is a disaster. Stay away from it. Get Limoncelli and Hogan instead, followed by reading the Solaris man pages for security-related utilities.

Not for children diagnosed with bipolar disorder
I agree with the other reviewer that this is not a helpful book. I was hoping to find an informative book for children that have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. This book is definitely not it! I believe it would scare youngsters into thinking that they might end up in an asylum, receiving electro-shock therapy. The book states that not everyone ends up like that, but it seems to dwell on the topic. It also has some disturbing information about the history of mental illness and they way patients were treated long ago.

Not good -- validates stereotypes!
This book is very limited in scope and focuses on the negative aspects of manic depression. As the wife of a manic depressive, I found it to be a book to steer clear of as the author seems to think that all manic depressives are doomed to be inmates and have no function in society.

One cliche after another, read over-dramatically.
I purchased these tapes expecting some thoughtful advice on how to transform my image. Instead, I was treated to a string of the worst teeny bopper magazine cliches and a good deal of "purple prose", all delivered in a desperately overwrought manner by the reader. The prose was startling in its incorrect use of the English language, at points. What positive advice it might have had to offer, i.e. sexiness isn't about whether you look like Cindy Crawford, or not, was immediately contradicted by a long treatise on how much more sexy you are if you're lean and muscular.

Complete Utter Trash & Lies. It just plain stinks
This is the kind of garbage that fundamentalist christians like to use when making false claims about pagans. All statements in this book are either lies or fantasy. None of the author's statements are backed up with facts or sourses. All material was taken from magazine interviews.

Just another fantatic who thinks modern witchcraft and satanism go together. Nothing could be further from the truth than this poor excuse of a book. How do these nuts get published?

Just Feminist Psychobabble
Throughout the entire book, Daniels continously and erroneously asserts that women are somehow subjugated by having certain policies that protect their fetus. Well, boo hoo. A woman should not have the right to drink alcohol if she is pregnant. I think she can go for a few months without intoxicating herself and her developing life. Stop whining, Daniels.

This book is WEIRD!
Ok- i was joking when I said that Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry was the worst book that I have read. Baitchopper is worse!!! It has a pointless plot and doesn't develop at all. I read it in my Advanced 6th Grade English class. It should have a label on it that reads: SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: IF YOU READ THIS BOOK, YOU MAY INSTANTLY EXPLODE!

Great source for reprints of old tax forms
If your looking for an extensive reprinting of 1995 tax forms and instructions, or a handy glossary of definitions such as "Internal Revenue Service", "Deed", "Will" and even the always confusing multi-syllabic "Representative", you'll find it here in spades. Of the 284 pages in the book, the first 111 is full of boilerplate advice that you might get free from the IRS, the remaining 173 pages is reprints of IRS forms, their instructions, and the glossary.

Only very basic information - a disappointment
As a very inexperienced mechanic I have found this book of little use to me as the information given is far too sketchy & not detailed enough on the differences between models...Far too expensive (in Australian dollars) for the information provided.
