How to Buy the Most Car for the Least Money: Negotiate the Lowest Possible Price for a New Car Every Time!

Broad perspective. Harsh truths. Quick read. Effective.
Best and shortest of three books I read on the subject. Comprehensive in subjects covered but written with brevity in an easy-to-read style. Covers issues that most car buyers should (but do not) consider (ex: selecting a dealer, buying accessories, servicing the vehicle). Most of the hard-nosed negotiation tactics are simple, easy to apply and effective. Some of the end-game tactics may require a leap-of-faith for the more inexperienced negotiators. Author needs to update book to cover dealer holdbacks and add some meat to section on leasing. Combine this with an Edmund's guide (Better: go to http://www.edmund.com) and a Consumer Reports review to be fully prepared

How to Protect Your Life Savings From Catastrophic Illness a
I f you wish to understand the subjects of Medicare and Medicaid as they relate to aging and long term care, this book is a must - and a "keeper". I am a 28-year insurance professional and have been involved in long term care insurance since 1988. I have heard Mr. Gordon speak on a number of occasions. He speaks as he writes - clear and to the point. An attorney, he avoids "legalese". Our insurance agency trains other insurance agents in long term care. I always recommend that they purchase this book. It is imperative that our prospects and clients understand what (limited) benefits they might receive from either of these government programs. Mr. Gordon makes a complex subject understandable.

An informative book for visual artists at any level.
Although not being completely satisfied with the "succeed" part of the title, I have no problem giving this book a 5-star (or perhaps a 4.5-star to be strict) rating. It is a tell-all book for artists at any level.

The book covers basically all the phases in the development of an artist's career life; from training to becoming famous and wealthy. The author does a thorough job discussing the pro's and con's of each solution to the needs of the artists to obtain training, as well as to market their work. For instance, comparisons are made between getting a formal training (art degree) at Universities and other options such as participating in workshops, continuing study programs, correspondence classes, and self-teaching using art instruction books and videocassettes. Using the same approach, the author moves on to discussion on the benefits and drawbacks of renting a studio vs. having a studio at home, along with other issues such as studio safety and insurance. Other issues such as exhibiting one's work, framing, shipping artworks, how to get involved in art clubs, how to overcome mental blocks and seek artistic inspiration, success stories, etc. are also discussed in great detail. In addition, a nice appendix including information about art dealers and art supplies stores at the end of the book makes the book complete.

In closing, this is the book that every artist will find something "hits home" when reading it. The only thing that I might complain about the book is that the appendix does not provide internet addresses of the stores/dealers cited, considering a lot of these stores do have internet sites, some of which I am a regular client of.

Tremendous
Life dealt my wife Marjorie a poor hand to begin with, and not much came up on the flop; but thanks to this fantastic guide she is planning on penning a genuinely moving and heartwarming account of triumph over adversity. Or revelling in her own victimhood. It depends on your perspective.

A truely "fractured" Humpty!
I am reading this story to all K-2 students in the library at my school. The teachers and the kids love it. The story in rhyme is a hoot. It's got plenty of action and yet is thoughtful and has similarities to the original rhyme. The kids liked comparing this to the original and provoked us into reciting the original as well. The illustrations are also bold, bright and really cute. Humpty has the look of a child rather than a wierd egg person. Daniel Kirk has created an exceptional retelling. I highly recommend this book!

Pocket sized, very handy guide to French Food
I found this book to be very useful (so has everyone I've lent it to). Since most of the food items are in alphabetical order, it's easy to find what you're looking for quickly. There's pronunciation help, and information on foods by region. There's also a separate section on beverages, with useful information on wine.

Excellent integration of theory and practice
This is a comprehensive work detailing the intricacies of treatment of complex disorders utilizing hypnosis and behavioral medicine techniques. Clinical protocols are well supported by research and case description. This is an essential text for the practicing clinician and is extremely well written on a broad range of treatment options and disorders.

Best Textbook on Child Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
This book's first edition was published in 1981, describing itself as a "comprehensive text...[providing] an up-to-date survey of the available information on child hypnotherapy...a detailed, thorough, and stimulating source of ideas and creative approaches to understanding chidlren and helping them develop their potential to the fullest." The revised and expanded third edition includes new material, but hasn't changed substantially from the first edition - it is hard to improve on perfection. In its latest incarnation, this third edition remains the "gold standard in the field." For more specifics, do see my published review on this book in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 36:12, December, 1997, pages 1782-3

A practical, insightful book by an down to earth pastor.
This book is especially great for those people who are hesistant about becoming a part of a church for whatever reason. It speaks to pastors, church members, and laypersons who want to have a better church. It is full of practical, user friendly, suggestions for being a caring church family; for capturing the heart of the community; for empowering people in the church and much more.

In addition to this book, I highly recommend this author's other book, "People of Promise: How to be an Authentic Believer." I've read it and it changed my life!

Another masterpiece by Lyon/Bleak Beauty Books
A photo book every collector should grab before its price hits the roof. A sensitive, searing portrait of the life of two young boys as they hold off their photo-screwball of a father as he chases them across the page. Catch-it! A clever and beautiful use of album photography.
