Follow the Money!
This book will help anyone who desires to learn how their box office ticket dollars are spent. The authors take you step by step through a standard profit participation agreement. I feel the authors are not as aggressive as they should be hollywood's unethical "creative accounting". The distributors and the audit firms would like artists to believe that the lack of knowledge is why many artist are "cheated" out of their net profits or as Eddie Murphy stated "monkey profits". All net profit participants should read this before they listen to their lawyers and auditors. Many auditors and attorneys are willing participants in the "net profit scam"!

Murphy the Rat - Hilarious
Murphy the Rat was a scream! This is the kind of kid's book I love - gross, macabre - the kind of book that insures my little nieces and nephews won't come out boring adults. I haven't laughed this much since I read Gorey's alphabet of children's demises or his "Fateful Party" pop-up book.

Tough, brash, great!!!
This is the third book by Woodrell which I've read and I plan to get to everything he's written. I love his use of language, his intelligent and accurate depiction of low and not-so-low life. With simple economy and smooth plotting, he unwinds stories which surprise us with their developments. I think he writes some of the best characters and paying attention to them and what they are saying and doing in the immediate action diverts us from seeing the motives behind all that. Kind of like real life. I like the Rene Shade character a lot and hope that Woodrell will keep him around for further adventures. This book is very well-written and I recommend it highly!

A New and Rare Look at the Italian Campaign of World War II
"My War" reads like a fast-paced novel, yet it is a true, autobiographical account of the wartime experiences of a young American. Daniel J. Petruzzi leaves his job as a newspaper reporter in Pennsylvania to enter the Army and winds up as an officer with the American Military government during the Italian Campaign of World War II. These memoirs are unique in two important ways. First, Petruzzi at the time was already a talented writer who obviously recorded many of the details of the story as it unfolded, not relying on memory to capture the action and feelings of the time. Second, because of his ancestry and fluency in the language he developed a strong bond with and compassion for the Italian people including Partisans, sometimes while working behind enemy lines. Petruzzi writes with an easy style. He addresses the story to his two grown sons in a warm and personal way that makes the reader feel part of the family. This is a book that is hard to put down. The generation that saw the battles of World War II is rapidly fading away, and future generations will be thankful for Americans like Daniel J. Petruzzi---soldiers who were there and who give us assurance that those times will not be forgotten.

Excellent Myeloma Reference source
Myeloma is a very difficult and deadly sickness with no cure. Many people are misdiagnosed for years. This Handbook expands on what the IMF says in their booklet so extensively that I recommend it highly as an educational even though technical tool. Great job by Oxford Press and my only regret is that there is no simple way to update it more often. So far there were 1995 and 1998 editions, I look forward to the 2001 edition which could mean an overhaul of the themes. A few non focus subjects on the sickness could be eliminated.

Audubon's Rocky Mt. States Field Guide: A great buy
As with all of the National Audubon Society's field guides, the "National Audubon Society Field Guide to the Rocky Mountain States" is a most worthwhile purchase, perfect as a gift or for your own collection. The guide is durable and very portable, which makes it well suited for use in the outdoors. More importantly, it has excellent content. Despite its small size, the field guide contains a wealth of information. In addition to the usual focus on flora and fauna species, there is information on constellations, parks, ecosystems, and more. While the depth and detail of the information in the various sections is not vast, the breadth of subject matter more than makes up for this; the information presented is ideal for a general field guide. Moreover, the book is beautiful, filled with gorgeous color photographs. Residents of the Rocky Mountain states and non-residents will both love it.
