This book is an excellent introduction to E&M.
This is a very thorough and carefully written book. In fact, it is so good it is still required reading in many courses (Brunel U. for example).I cannot understand why it is out of print when so many course syllabuses still recommend it.

Best book in the world
I personally look back at the book for referance as how to calculate figures for projects that are coming up at work. I thought that the book had more valuable information in it, that was needed in the everyday of finance. It is worth more keeping the book than selling it. If you asked me what the "Net Present Value" was on this book. I estimated $1201.75 after I expensed the book from my cost of making a decision on whether to, or not to engaging in a project using the "Cost of Capital" method in chapter 10. And, because of it I made more money for myself.

PS Great Book, Refused to sell it.
PSS. Excellant Professor

If I could give it 6 stars, I would...
Funny Business is the best of the Crimebusters Series, one of the best Three Investigators Books, and is one of my favorite books of all time. In this, the 8th (I think) book in the "Grown Up" Three Investigators, the detectives try to have a normal summer vacationand make money by selling on some comics they buy. When they are at the comics convention however, their plan is foiled when the comics are stolen. The book blends in well written human interest, Jupiter's continuing love troubles, with action, a well written plot, and a quite astoundingly accurate perspective of the comic book world. As a fan, I am used to the misrepresentation and incorrect views of most writers on the strange and covert of comic book fans, but the writer's picture of it is perfect, down to realistically crafted superheroes and the shady purloining of artists work by editors.

A dip into the depths, worth every breath taking moment
being a lover of thrillers as well as poetry, I find this refreshing piece a rare combination of both. The reading is a thought invoking experience, and it provides some of the finest humorous moments I have had in a long time. All along the book, I couldn't make my mind whether I am reading an ancient myth or a super modern observation of our lives as humans, as thinkers, and as lovers of life. It isn't always easy to digest, but every morsel of it proves nutritious. Penetrative, amusing, challenging!

A Nun and the Genius
Yvonne Fern a former Nun, spent months with Gene and his wife Majel whom the book is dedicated to. I am not a Trekie and originally bought the book for my son who is a major Star Trek fan. But I opened the book and read a few pages, then a few more pages. Then within days I was 3/4 thru the book and had gained such respect for the man Gene Roddenberry and realized he was much more than the man behind Star Trek. On page 2 I see my Father speaking, thru MsFern/Mr Roddenberry: "Gene Roddenberry did not believe in time. He never spoke of the future in the future tense, to me. It was always, "the future is", not "the future will be".

The book is wonderful because it also covers the marriage he had, and the uniqueness of his personaility. On page 95 Ms Fern notes: "Like many writers he carries a population sround inside of him-ideas, fancies, noions, characters, theories, possibilities, dreams. They buzz constantly with opposing suggestions, contraditory philosphies, conflicting needs. They make demands on him that they begiven life." This is why he was a genius. An eccentric of sorts. So many people live "safe" lives. People like Mr Roddenberry take risks and lead the lives they are meant to live. Interetsing that people admire men/women like him, yet how few people are have that spirit of adventure. Mr Roddenberry didn't see race, religion, gender, but LIFE in its fullest form. The book covers his feelings on these subjects as well as sex.

This book is a modern day Homer. Everyone should buy it ! I bought copies for my local library.

General Macarthur and President Truman: The Struggle for Control of American Foreign Policy

Short but informative
This book is concise, yet extremely informative. Richard H. Rovere and Arthur Schlesinger Jr. prove to be a great match in writing the "General and the President." The book opens on a brief note on General Douglas Macarthur's early military history, followed by the outbreak of the Korean war, and the origins and climax of the feud between General Macarthur and President Harry Truman. It comes complete with maps of Korea, political cartoons from the era, and a well documented appendix consisting of speeches, conversations, and testimonies from key government officials of the time. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the Korean War and the famous feud.
