I lead a very hectic life full of deadlines. I use Arthur Rowshan's book to remind myself that no matter what, I have the power to improve my life. I recommend you buy this book, but most of all read it and use it.
Wright takes up these eternal questions in a meditation on the short-lived Sui dynasty, predecessor and layer of cultural and institutional foundations for the more famous Tang. Its founder unified China for the first time in 400 years; his successor, aiming to transcend this accomplishment with public works and foreign wars, brought down the dynasty. An old work and hard to find, but one which offers some illumination on the problems of contemporary China as well as on a time long past.
Well-tested methods are provided here, and the text is sufficiently comprehensive to cover several courses at a range of different levels. This would cover a great deal of what is needed for an associates degree program, and the foundation of a Bachelors program (1.5 years of the main program). This is far better than most books in this field, and it is a better book.
Being a British book, there are a few limitations for the US market. The book is metric, which will pain a few people in the US who can't handle this (but then why are they in the surveying game?). The terminology is British (e.g. 'staff' vs 'rod'), but this is a relatively minor concern, and will expose students to the idea that Surveying is a multi-national discipline, especially important with FIG being based in the US at the moment. There is no coverage of cadastral issues, including PLSS, but that can be obtained from other works, and doesn't apply to all parts of the US, as it happens.
Highly recommended. It is the OSU text for Surveying and Geomatics Engineering students.
I studied it while I was in university and decided to keep it...that was a great idea since I landed in a job at a Corporation where I had to do presentations about strategy, due diligences, and participate & implement organizational changes. The Director of my department said that my work had the level of an MBA graduate (even though I did not had an MBA, I was just using this book) and gave me a promotion.
After five years of work I did start to do my MBA and did not find a better book about strategy implementation than this one. Unfortunately, there was a flood in my city and the book was wasted and I am seeking to buy a new one.
