A scathing indictment of multiculturalism
Mr. Schlesinger is cogent and to the point. The best attack on multicultural agendas there is--from an intellectual giant. Short enough to be read in one sitting. Unfortunately, America's public schools and their hyper-ethnic curriculums will never catch on. Jesse Jackson only wishes that he could refute Schlesinger's wisdom.

Practical guide focused on leadership and communication.
Sonnensschein has written something very useful, with concise definitions and practical advice. He spends the reader's time judiciously by getting to the practical aspects of diversity in a hurry, and then by articulating the practices that can best be employed to capitalize on the reality of an increasingly diverse world. He makes good distinctions about what matters...for example, focusing on significance rather than mere style issues. This is a well-written primer on an important subject.

ONE OF MANY BOOKS ABOUT SARAH
When one ones to know the degry of celebrity an artist has earned over the years following her death, just check out the numerous biographies published about the person.SARAH BERNHARDT is the most famous actress of her time;she played many roles of the repertoire ,and she also created many like ROSTAND's L'AIGLON and DUMAS's LA DAME AUX CAMÉLIAS.Like many actresses, she had an eccentric life and she actually made her name with her talent, not her beauty. This book allows you to encounter many important figures like VICTOR HUGO,ALEXANDRE DUMAS,EDMOND ROSTAND and OSCAR WILDE who were part of her life. The book is filled with pictures of the different decades of her life.If you want to read one book about her, this one can satisfy you.Beware of SARAH's memoirs, because it is a well known fact that she enjoyed the art of lying. After reading this,i had this thought.Would SARAH have managed to make the career she had in today's world? My answer is yes, even if in the process, she probably would have cut a few throats of repulsive columnists.

The Most Comprehensive
The most comprehensive scriptural treatment of the Doctrine of
Total Depravity you will ever find. This book explodes the malformed idea that man is born with either a neutral nature or a good one. Man must know his true fallen and corrupt nature as a Holy God sees him or he will never see his need for salvation. 'The Doctrine of Total Depravity' is a scriptural mirror that reveals every leprous sore, every pock-mark, and every blemish of man's spiritual condition and drives him to cry out for healing, "God have mercy on me, a sinner!" If this book is not in the hand of every person who professes to be a Christian, I ask, "Why Not?" This work is not only excellent, but necessary.

Quick, Get This Book Before It Disappears Forever!
Arthur Morrison's THE DORRINGTON DEED-BOX has been near the top of my want list for over twenty years -- ever since Hugh Greene selected two of the six stories in it for his RIVALS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES series. When a highly random check revealed that the book was in print and available for well under the four digits used booksellers were charging, I pounced immediately.

One of the most underrated British novelists of the last 150 years, Morrison has given us such literary classics as HOLE IN THE WALL, TALES OF MEAN STREETS (well before Raymond Chandler popularized the phrase), and CHILD OF THE JAGO. In addition, his several volumes of Martin Hewitt detective stories are almost on a par with Conan Doyle's.

What sets this volume apart is that its protagonist, Horace Dorrington, is a far bigger scoundrel than Frazier's Flashman. He attempts to have one client drowned in a tank and scruples not to commit extortion and highway robbery at the slightest opportunity. At one or two points, he is almost on the side of good, but vitiates his status by cutting side-deals with the villains. Why Morrison never published any more collections in this series is beyond me.

At a time when anti-heroes are more generally accepted, the DEED-BOX furnishes a pleasant combination of rampant immorality and genteel Victorian language.

Indeed, it is well worth scouring used bookshelves for the "other" detectives, such as Ernest Bramah's blind detective, Max Carrados; R. Austin Freeman's Dr. Thorndyke; and Baroness Orczy's delicious and never named Old Man in the Corner. Happy hunting!

Must have for propliner fans
Arthur Pearcy did a splendid job; a thorough work about propliners. Being in my forties I know propliners only from old movies and books. Pearcy's book took me to the beginning of commercial aviation, showed me "how things used to work" in those good old flying times. Also included,a rich number of unique photos collected from various sources and lot of data about Douglas propliners - it's what the title says; a real history from DC-1 up to DC-7c, including some less known facts from behind production line and airlines history. All main typs as well as subtyps of Douglas produced propliners are explained in tiny details, including some of them you probably never heard of their existence before. When you read this book you'll know for sure - jets are for kids.

A senior Gestalt therapist reflects on her craft. Wonderful!
This book by the late Rainette Fantz is wonderful... The author reflects on her career as a Gestalt Therapist with style and candor, covering everything from the intricacies of opening sessions to gestalt dreamwork. Fantz and Roberts (who edited and wrote and introduction to the volume) were both actors before becoming therapists--and the result is a book loaded with insight and charm.
