Arthur and the Cootie CatcherArthur and the Cootie Catcher
Arthur and the Cootie Catcher Author: Marc Brown This book is good for grades 2,3 and 4, because it is a big print and easy to understand. It let's you in on a fact to not to believe everything you hear or see. I highly recommend it if you like things that can tell the future or they think it can tell the future!!

A can't miss Arthur book!
"Arthur and the Cootie-Catcher" is a book that I'm more than sure kids will love. It has an exciting storyline, and I like how Marc Brown was smart to put in the instructions. There were too amy good parts, so I can't say which part's my favorite. Either way, I highly recommend that everyone should read this.

It was Enjoyable and Fun
Arthur and the Crunch Cereal contest to me was quite an enjoyable book. True that it wasn't one of my favorite of the Arthur series but I felt that it shows children to try to do something and your very best in what you do, but sometimes you don't always fulfill your wishes. Arthur "stole" his little sister D.W's song theme but in the end his concious got to him. I believe it showed children to always be honest. They'll have fun reading the book but shall find something as a reference in the future. There is always a moral in these arthur books and I enjoy reading to Children!

One of the best of the series, and definitely fun!
Number 4 of this outstanding series was a blast! I like the idea of the story, how funny it is, and especially exciting. I wish that this story was real life, because I'd love to win a contest like that. Too bad these neat things have to be stories. Either way, you can't miss this one!!!

Arthur and the Poetry Contest
Arthur and the Poetry Contest is book number 18 in the"Arthur Chapter Book" series. It is written in chapter bookformat for children who are ready to read on their own. In this storyFern dares Arthur and his friends to enter the poetry writing contest at the local library, but writing poems turns out to be harder than they thought. Will Arthur and friends be able to write poems good enough to be read out loud? Brown continues to demonstrate an understanding of timing and flow of text as well as an awareness of what is of interest to children. The few black & white illustrations help bridge the gap between the easy reader level and a junior fiction. This sturdy beginner chapter book is sure to be a hit with Arthur fans.

A Good Improvement on The Teleplay
This book is based on an episode on the "Arthur" T.V. by Joe Fallon, and it's an excellent enhancement to an already good story. Rather than watching the T.V., readers are made to use their imaginations as part of the story, or even if they have seen the show, use their imaginations to fill in the details. Marc pays excellent attention to detail and although most of the credit goes to Fallon, those who saw the show will still find it worthwhile to read the book.

Arthur Learns Teamwork
Children who are ready for their first chapter books will enjoy reading about Arthur's adventures on his ball team. The story is written in a fast-paced style with a lot of dialogue, so most kids will zip through it in no time. The book's emphasis on teamwork and encouraging others just makes the story that much more worthwhile. Great for kids, regardless of whether they are Arthur fans.

First Chapter Book Read
When I read my first chapter book,I was 7. It was a Arhtur book, but first my Dad read it to me. So I read more chapter books

Great fire safety tips for preschoolers!
This book teaches a lot of important saftey steps in the event of a fire. My preschool child really enjoys the book and had fun placing the stickers on the appropriate spots. The only drawback is that not enough room is allowed for the stickers, making it impossible to see all the words once the stickers are in place.

Excellent Fire Safety Story
When I picked this book up from the library, I was worried that it might just be a book version of episode from the episode "D.W. All Fired Up" on the "Arthur" television series. Fortunately, it isn't. It's a unique and beautifully illustrated story about fire safety that teaches children what they need to know and also manages to entertain in the process. D.W. fans will love seeing D.W. in her firefighter's hat as the "fire boss" as well as when she was just a little baby. The story is generally kept pleasant throughout, without arguing between Arthur and D.W. It also has a surprising and satisfying ending.

A little fun between bro and sis.
In this book Arthur and his sister D.W. have a reading contest to see if she could really read. So D.W. could read after all and Arthur ended up taking back what he said about her. He said she couldn't read but he didn't know she could.

Brilliant use of a simple medium to teach children to read.
One of many books in the Arthur series, Arthur's Reading Race, is extremely well designed, using stickers to ecourage and assist in the reading and learning of new words. On almost every page there is a word writen in blue which the child must match with a sticker. The kinestic activity of tieing the visual cue to the word enhances the learning process. Thematically, Marc Brown, couldn't have been more apropo, using the much loved Arthur character to challenge his younger sister, D.W., to read ten words. New readers, identifying with D.W., are immediately invested in discovering whether the novice is successful in meeting her older brother's challenge. Marc Brown, does not dissappoint his young fans, as D.W. manages to read ten words and receives her reward (an ice-cream). Brown uses humor extremely well eliciting delighted giggles from young readers as they follow D.W. and Arthur on this immaginative and educational journey. Other bonuses include a review activity, an additional sticker page which allows the child to create their own story, as well as excellent ideas/advice in a "Note to Parents" page.Unfortunately, this is one of very few Arthur: Step into reading books which I have been able to locate which offer the stickers and all the asociated activities. -Victoria Romani

Arthur's Teacher Moves in
What a situation for a young student to find themselves in--Arthur's teacher is staying with his family while repairs are being made to his roof. Arthur gets a glimpse of Mr. Ratburn as a person, rather that just his teacher. His friends turn on him because they think he is getting special treatment. When Mr. Ratburn discovers the dilemma. his solution is very original. Can be a good discussion of how teaching used to be; when often teachers did live with their students or at least have dinner at their home.

Marc Brown Never Disappoints!
Poor Arthur, his mom has just informed him that his teacher Mr Ratburn is going to be staying at their house for awhile. His roof was damaged in a storm and he needs a place to live, while it's getting repaired. Arthur is in a panic. He tells his parents that Mr Ratburn can't live at their house...it's just not right...school is school and home is home. But after Mr Ratburn moves in, Arthur finds out he's just a regular guy who wears jeans and tee-shirts around the house, watches TV and likes dessert. All goes well until Arthur gets an A on a very difficult math test. Now all his friends are mad at him. They won't stop teasing him and calling him names. Fortunately, Mr Ratburn comes up with a clever idea and saves the day.....Marc Brown has again written a funny, witty, gentle story about life's day to day ups and downs. His characters are very down to earth, their troubles, real and his solutions, always true to life. Youngsters easily identify with Arthur and the gang and learn simple lessons of how to handle everyday problems that pop up, time and again. You can't go wrong with an "Arthur" book. It's always a favorite and a great addition to all bookshelves.

Some of the best songs from the best composers ever !!
All the songs to satisfy even the most discriminating G&S fan

I am wondering why it is listed as differential geometry.
It must be because of that line about the square of the hypotenuse.
