Most comprehensive echo text
This is one of the best books I have encountered for adult echocardiography, and is the reference source in our echolab. I am eagerly awaiting its newer edition. The text is easy to read and is accompanied by thousands of excellent photographs.

The Bible of Echocardiography
No other book is as complete as this one on the study of Echocardiography. If you like the esoteric findings in Echocardiography then you will love this book.

what is neurosis
is neurosis a part of the machine of human organisation; is it the avoidable consequence of parenting; do we have to spoil our children to avoid neurosis thus inflicting their selfishness on others and generating more neurosis in those others and their offspring.
If you don't care and just want to understand yourself this book may help more than others ...And at [money] dollars its cheap at the price but the hard cover ...

The Hidden Truth Speaks
Prisoners of Pain is a great book. It is science written from the heart. It explains psychology on a deep level, including the physiological, the emotional and the thinking brains. Most important though, it PROVES neurosis (and psychosis) comes out of early pain. It also shows how neurosis can be reversed, which you rarely hear in any other therapy. By reading the book one comes to realise how stupid some of the explanations for neurosis (and its treatment) are in other fields of psychology, and in the general population. Janov writes the full truth I find, whilst other authors in the field tend to deal in half truths. It is a stunning book, almost unbelievable, but it is true. It is important we all know about how crippling emotional pain can be prevented, for the next generation of children. I believe Janov is the best source by far, for such exacting information. Its exciting stuff, please read it and recommend it to others, especially young fertile couples!

Enjoy.

Problem of China

Insightful Thoughts Even Valueable Today
Russell explained in depth the power balance in China among British, French, Russia, US, Germany, and Japan in the late 19th century and early 20th century. As a peace lover, Russell disgusted at the Japanese invasion and control in China. He was able to explain the root cause of the Japanese aggression using the Race, Culture, Religion, and Industry development factors. As he stated the Chinese culture could not incubate aggression as contrary to the Japanese culture. Since the Far East culture root is deep and usually carries along for centuries, I believe his view still holds true in the 21st century. This book also explained the possibility of a 'Red China' in 1922. Because Russia was a traditional enemy of Japan in the Far East, Russell thought Russia would have a huge impact on 'Young China' because "one's enemy's enemy is usually a friend". I was so much impressed by Russell's social analysis and insightful thought on China. I wish he were still alive today so he could educate the Westerns about who is the true peace loving people in the Far East.

Even good for western people to understand current China
In this book, Bertrand Russell expressed his ideas about both the positive and negative characters of Chinese. It can only be written after carefully thinking over what are in Chinese people's mind. And only you have been to China for over 6 months can you really understand what he really means. This is perhaps the best book for western people to learn the way of thinking of Chinese and the character of the Chinese people. After reading the book I think people will rebuild an idea about China, thus they can understand the Chinese people in American better.

Getting Back to Biblical Spiritually Intelligent Bible Study
This book was recommended to me by another reviewer and all I can say is read it. It is so useful in transforming our study of God's Word from an effort to be smart and a better debater to being transformed ourselves into Christ's likeness. The Bible is neither a textbook nor an ammunition depot; it is the Holy Spirit's tool to deal with us regarding our own personal development to Christlikeness and then to declare God's glory, not our sound arguments, to the world (1 Peter 2:9). One will never be able to truly and biblically challenge another person to godliness unless one is progressing that way him/herself. Pink's book is laid out into chapters of practical application, each chapter being enumerated into various points. Each chapter title with each one's enumeration could be copied into an outline and inserted into one's Bible as a guideline to make sure he/she is reading the Bible for the God-given reason it should be read. Here is a 20-century book presenting the oft-forgotten Puritan approach to studying scripture effectively and thoughtfully. Thank you, Joe, for the gift.

profiting from the word
This book is based on 2Tim.3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God,and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. This book is like a mini practical theology. It takes the major doctrines of the Bible and examines the effect that should be produced in the life of anyone that has embraced these truths from the heart. Is your life being transformed by the power of God? This book will be of great help to anyone that would like an honest answer to that very important question.

The Promise of Space

A True Classic
Arthur C. Clarke is, of course, mainly known for his stellar science fiction, but he has also published numerous volumes of non-fiction, and this is one of his better and more important works. There is so much information packed into this book it is unbelievable. Clarke details the early history of astronomy and astronomically and scientifically important concepts relating to future space flight in early science fiction works. He then goes on to describe the Moon, planets, and much of the solar system (and indeed, beyond) in detail, including possible ways of reaching and colonizing them and the various uses each would provide. Arthur also details the history of the space program (on both the American and Russian sides) up until the time the book was published. The reaching of the moon is explained in detail. He then spends quite a bit of time speculating (as always, on solid scientific ground), and he touches on many other important subjects along the way - Relativity, the usefulness of space exploration to the layman, early rocket history, and so much more. There are also several highly useful charts in the book (escape velocities of the various planets, the size, gravity, lenght of day and year, etc. for the various planets with respect to Earth, etc.) that serve to illustrate his words. The writing is never overly technical, but is written in such a way that anyone (from the layman to the scientist) can enjoy it and learn from it. It doubled my knowledge of astronomy. Highly recommended.

Right up there with Cosmos
Arthur C. Clarke's The Promise of Space is right up there with Cosmos. Written in 1968, it's quite dated. For example, it says that we could have a manned mission to Mars by 1975. This, unfortunately, never happened. In 1975, we had Apollo-Soyuz. It also says that we can get to the closest star, Alpha Centauri, in ten thousand years. I'm not a scientist but in my layman's opinion, if we could put a man on the moon, we could probably build a starship capable of traveling faster-than-light to take us there. Orion could probably be converted to go faster than the speed of light. Although according to Einstein, this is impossible, it shouldn't stop us. If we can develop a drive system capable of taking us to the nearest stars. The so-called "experts" say it's impossible to go on a star trek. These are the same "experts" who said: "If God had intended for man to fly, He would have given him wings." World War II, more than anything, got us to the Moon. It was the V-2 that got us there. The progression was V-2, Atlas, Titan, and the Saturn V. Still the tallest rocket ever built. We must build starships capable of FTL travel. Space travel's been a staple of science fiction since the 1930s. The Promise of Space starts with a history of the space program up until 1968. It ends with speculation about the future. Read this book. Then read Carl Sagan's Cosmos and this is important for you high school students, drop me an e-mail book report, don't worry. You won't be graded on it. I'm not a teacher.

The Quack Corp - an incredible book
I recently read Mr. Wells' book retelling his experiences in the Pacific during WWII. I was very impressed with his story telling ability and thoroughly enjoyed the book. I have known Mr. Wells most of my life and had no idea that he had been, seen and done the things that he described. This book makes you realize just how great the heroes of WWII are, and how everyday "Joes" rose to the occasion that was presented by just being there. They made us all proud of their tencaity, grit and courage. I am an avid reader and highly recommend this book. I read it on a cross country airline flight..I just couldn't put it down. What a wonderful reading experience.

An excellent first person account of a Marine in the Pacific
Art Wells, a Marine on the USS Pennsylvania on December 7, 1941 relates his experiences on that day and during the rest of the Pacific War in "The Quack Corps." Included are Mr. Wells Pearl Harbor experience, where he was wounded, his time on the Pennsylvania after her repair, time on the USS New Mexico and the time he spent with DUKW's in the invasions of Saipan and Okinawa. An extremely interesting and informative book, one that is not to be missed!

speaking duck is fun!
Of all of our children's books, my one year old daughter enjoys it when I read this one to her the most. She laughs when I "quack, quack, quacked quack!" It's amazing, but I understand duck!

Quacking Hilarious!!
I'm a manager in a bookstore and I began a shift meeting by reading this book aloud to my booksellers: we range in age from 19-40 and we all laughed and were charmed by this very original book. It's tooooo funny! We'll be using this for a storytime and I just know that the kids will fall in love too. Quack is a duck who longs to quack to the moon. But he soon discovers that such adventuring is not all it's "quacked" up to be. The funniest, but saddest and most touching part is when he's on the moon all alone: "Quack quacked, and quacked..." meaning that Quack the duck cried and cried for loneliness. That part may not sound particularly funny, but an expressive reader makes all the difference at a storytime. It can really be a hoot--oops! Sorry! I mean a QUACK! :) I highly recommend this book.

You need to read this book!
Simply the best book I have ever read on church and what it means to be a radical Christian. If you don't want to be serious with God, if you don't want to be part of a biblical church then don't buy this book! If you read this openly and honestly it will change the way you see church and your part in it. I dare you to buy it! The only shame is that it's out of print...

WARNING!!!! THIS BOOK COULD COST YOU YOUR LIFE
After reading this book twice I would advice all serious christians to read it.If you are floundering in a dead, cold, church read this book to find your way out.

Radio Man/Don Radio
I really enjoyed this well-written story about migrant workers going from place to place to pick crops. Instead of being isolated, the young man in the story listens to the Spanish-speaking stations wherever he goes and the radio gives him a sense of connection to his friends. It reminds me of the power of the radio stations across Mexico, especially San Miguel de Allende, where a tourist lost all his money by dropping his wallet and within minutes someone found it and took it to the radio station. He cried when he got his money back--all of it.

Excellent book
A touching story. Everytime I tell this story (I am a storyteller) when I visit schools, I get comments from the teachers and the students. A little fourth grader came up to me her eyes shinning with pride and a big smile and said: "I am one of them, I pick cucumbers and tomatoes in Ohio." Teachers, and even a principal, have come to me with tears in their eyes and said: "That was me, thank you for the story." It is a great book to share with students, to give a voice to the migrants who do so much for us, who pick the crops all over the United States so we can then enjoy them!

great book!
This book is great. It is a nice story that also teaches children about migrant farm workers. I love reading it.

Radio Man / Don Radio
Radio Man is a book that as a teacher, I can't wait to use in my classroom. So often, students do not understand what it is like to live the life of a migrant worker. Using Artur Dorros' story as a road map, one can bring to light and discuss with children many issues that afect the migrant workers. Why do they always move? Where do they live? What happens to their friends? Why do kids have to work? Questions such as this might arise as you read the book with your child. I feel it is a great book because it allows you to expose your children to a part of life that is not discussed very often but definitely afects the Latino population.
