Delightful
I started reading A Likely Story last night after I went to bed and found myself laughing out loud so many times. Dr. Adams has so many tales to tell, and he tells them delightfully. I can hardly wait to finish the book so I can pass it on to the rest of my family.

Extraordinary
A Likely Story covers the extraordinary events in the author's life from the age of eight into his seventh decade. This is a fascinating narrative and written with candor, whether relating to the adventures of childhood, the sometimes arduous process of growing into adulthood, or the tragedies that life has a way of inflicting upon us. The thing I love most about this book is the wonderful sense of humor. I found myself laughing out loud while reading numerous accounts. This is a truly remarkable story. Audrey

A wonderful piece of history
A Likely Story appears to be an autobiography. However, its true identity is soon revealed. This is a gripping, page-turning story of the American experience. For those who have also lived through Glenn's experiences there is an immediate and powerful connection. For those who haven't, Glenn's story foreshadows the pain, hope, joy and eventually triumph that life can bring.

By God's Grace
This study was truly a blessing to me. I strongly encourage anyone looking for a devotional Bible study or a way to spend time in God's Word to get this book. In the first few chapters Kay Arthur gives you some foundational teaching about the law, sin, and grace. This is not your usual devotional. Kay has you going directly to the Word for yourself so that you can discover truth for yourself. I found myself wondering why no one in church taught about the grace of God. I thank the Lord for showing me His grace in providing this study. Now I know I was living by Law and as result I was living beneath my inheritance--under the curse of the Law. Walking in God's grace means that I am totally dependent upon the Father for everything. Discover truth for yourself and get this book. If possible start a bible study with some friends and family using this study. But remember to do it all standing firm in the grace of God. Be blessed.

amazing GRACE
Satan would love to keep us under the law,but God sent His Son to free us from the law and it is by Him that we enter into Gods grace. Gods'blessings do not depend on my performance, I was wrongly declaring that I was justified through the cross but that justification was maintained through the law. Kays book has guided me into a deeper understanding that through Jesus we are not only saved from the condemnation of sin but we are saved from the POWER OF SIN NOW.

God's grace is so much more than I could have imagined!
This was the first class of Kay's Precepts Upon Precepts classes which I was blessed to complete. She has allowed herself to be used by God in the most remarkable ways, yielding herself to His leading and glory by her incredible insight and sharing in not only the book but the accompanying video. Kay is one of God's blessings, and may He continue to bless her as His name is glorified by the continued use and teaching imparted upon each new reader to her books!

YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSIN'!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!!!!

I love to know the behind-the-scenes of the days Gene Kelly made his magic at MGM, so Gene drew me to buying this book. Well, Mr Arthur Freed, if there could be more "bosses" like you today, the workplace would be a much happier place to be. Arthur and his "UNIT" or as I like to call them, "THE CREW" will have you laughing, maybe even crying and definitely astounded, amazed and so very happy that this man was the back bone and the money maker of this fabulous studio of the real movie days. His mind is one that could never be found again in any producer of today. They definitely cracked the mould when they made this man. So, I recommend that you buy this book, and even purchase the movie under the same title. Mr Hugh Fordin has done the most fantastic job on this book. You will feel like you are standing there in every scene that is described..

A book about the Master by a Master
Hugh Fordin is an expert in his field. His detailed research is clearly evident throughout this work. His love of theater, film and particularly the Hollywood (make that MGM) Musical is revealed in the many interviews he conducted with people involved in every aspect of the productions he writes about. He shares small insights and many heretofore unknown facts about this disappeared genre of movie making. If this isn't a textbook at film schools, it should be. A superb work whose value increases over the years.

Excellent
I was expecting this to be a straight biography of Arthur Freed with discussions on his films but instead I was pleasantly surprised to see that the entire book is a blow-by-blow account of how the films were made (which to a movie buff is pure heaven) and, as the author says, Freed's movies were his life anyway.

I think it says something that the title of this book is "M.G.M.'s Greatest Musicals", since the truly amazing thing is that one man was more or less responsible for all of them. Great behind-the-scenes stories.

Mr.Putter and Tabby Paint the Porch
My three year old daughter Serena loves this book, we've read it and our two other Mr.Putter and Tabby books every night since we got it. she always laughs at mTabby's pink whiskers. This series of books is fun to learn to read from and a frolic for everyone.

We love Mr. Putter and Tabby!
My children, ages three and five, adore Mr. Puuter and Tabby, and I believe this is Ms. Rylant's funniest rendition of their adventures so far. When the box arrived, I read the book alone because I couldn't stand to wait. Ms. Rylant uses a nice collection of short and medium-length words for beginning readers, and the story rollicks along. Mr. Howard's illustrations capture the subjects' expressions beautifully. We checked these books out of the library so often that we finally ordered some to keep.

A laugh-out-loud book ...
My kids, ages 3 and 6, loved this book! We were all laughing out loud not only at the premise of the story, but at the illustrations, too. My 6-year-old giggled all the way through the book looking at the expressions on Tabby's face.

Cynthia Rylant has a unique talent for pulling on our heartstrings and tickling our funny bones.

The Multi-Level Mangler in King Arthur's Court
It is a sad fact of life that most people will never achieve any notable success, even though the success they seek is within in the range of their grasp. Nowhere is this failure to achieve more evident, and more needless than in the world of network marketing. There are, of course, many books that promise to teach people the secrets of network marketing success, but few of these books actually deliver the goods they promise to their readers. Greg Arnold's The Multi-Level Mangler in King Arthur's Court is one of the few books on the subject of success in network marketing that fulfils its promise.

What sets Arnold's book apart from the majority of books on network marketing is not the principles it extols, but the way in which the principles are embodied, and illustrated in the life of the book's characters. Few readers will find themselves unable to relate to the fumbling Mangler as he struggles to learn the lessons of networking success from Arthur and Merlin. The reader of this book is exposed not only to the precepts that entail success, but, also, to the process through which the precepts become actualised in life. As Arthur tells the Mangler, 'Champions aren't strong all the time . . . In the beginning, they are only strong minutes at a time . . . . The difference between champions and average people is when champions are down and hurting, they, through self-discipline and character, replace their image of a defeated person with the image of a positive, vital, strong crusader and go out and do it again, even though they are hurting inside.' Most of us easily give in to feelings of defeat, but the readers of The Multi-Level Mangler in King Arthur's Court will learn how to develop the self-discipline and character required for success in network marketing alongside the Mangler.

This is a book in the Elizabethan tradition of mixing education with entertainment in a way that creates a 'talking picture' for the edification of the reader. The Elizabethan's understood, better than we apparently do, that the right end of learning is action. Given the historical record of success of Elizabethan authors to motivate people on to action, perhaps more contemporary success authors should, like Arnold, emulate the Elizabethan technique of creating stories that instruct and motivate. If you, or the members of your team, want to learn both what needs to be done, and how to go about doing it, then The Multi-Level Mangler in King Arthur's Court is a must read.

Best MLM Book Ever Written - Multi-Level Mangler
WOW, what a book! Every American should read this book. Not only does it teach principles of networking, but it teaches basic everyday principles of life; how to become teachable, become a powerful leader, powerful recruiter, work more effectively, teaches about human nature, and how to be a better person, friend, and how to deal with people more effectively. You will find out through reading the Multi-Level Mangler, that you, too, can become successful, and a better people person. Nothing is impossible. Winners and Champions will always come through, as they are taught the correct principles of marketing. If you are wanting to build a dynasty, this book is a MUST for you.

The Multi-Level Mangler in King Arthur's Court
The Multi-Level Mangler In King Arthur's Court, by Greg Arnold, is one of those unique, rare and creative books that gives new perspective to principles in effective and successful recruiting, leadership and business-building techniques and strategies that keeps any reader, from any background, entranced through the entire book! Being an educator, I have read my fair share of a variety of books, but never one quite so cleverly and superiorly written by a proven master of the art of human nature, individual motivation, vision and high expectations! Mr. Arnold takes the MLM learning arena to a whole different level in his book by using his brilliant writing skills to convey the essence and fundamental principles of ultimate, entrepreneurial success. His keen insight into human nature, and his off-beat humor make his mentoring techniques a style all of his own. Using an unusual story format, Mr. Arnold is able to effortlessly keep the reader enthralled with each page, utilizing profound words of thought in an easy-reading format of marvelous and spell-binding word pictures, conveyed to each reader on different levels through individual readiness and personal enlightenment....that miraculously re-emerges into new truths for each new stage and insightful growth periods experienced by the reader. It is truly one of the best, most valuable, instrumental books that I have ever read and re-read, and I continue to use and re-use as a valuable growth and business-building tool! This book should be required reading for all....it will change your outlook on life and success!

One Puzzler After Another
In yet another of a series of rip-roaring puzzlers from the mind of Robert Arthur, we now see Jupe and the Three Investigators triumph over a secretly coded message and a cast of assorted bad guys to solve yet another case. The puzzle of the coded message sent to August August (yes, that's his name) by his great-uncle proves to be even more perplexing than it at first appears. The boys seemingly solve the mystery several times, only to be rewarded each of those times with yet another clue to the location of that which they seek, namely a brilliant, long-lost, cursed ruby. Racing them to the prize are a mysterious man from India and a gang of rather foolish tough guys running around with fake black mustaches. I really admired how Arthur brought everything together at the end of the book, incorporating several small details I had dismissed as tangential at the beginning of the tale. As usual, you will find a chapter named "Trapped!" in the book, but, as is also quite usual, the boys find a way out of danger and prove that criminals are no match for the brains of Jupiter Jones and the steadfastness of his intrepid companions. This isn't quite as good as some of the earlier books in the series, but it is certainly an enjoyable story; also, it makes you think. Try putting the book down as you approach the final chapters, after all of the clues are known to you, and see if you can solve the mystery along with our heroes.

Turn back the clock.
I started reading the Three Investigators Mysteries back in the late 70's as a boy of ten. I believe that The Mystery of the Fiery Eye was the first and it hooked me in for many adventures to come. Now, as a man in his 30's, I am rediscovering just how wonderful these books really are. It is so refreshing to put aside adult matters for a few hours and return to a simpler time. I can't recommend this series highly enough to young and old alike.

Great reading
I was a fan of these characters growing up. I was always trying to find the next case that the boys would be solving. I am buying these books for my 9 year old son so that he can enjoy them as much as I did. They were even better than the Hardy Boys! (I will probably re-read them to share the fun with my son)

COMPLETE DIFFERENT METHOD OF RPG
Pendragon is great. This book contains detailed data, written in a clear way, about life in Arthur's age, beginning in the year 510 after CHrist. THe only flaw is the combat system, which is too violent. Of course, a battle till death is a violent event, but after loosing so much time developing your character, you discover how easy is to be killed using this combat system. ANyway, the authors give you a perfect set-up to go aboard a journey of history, not only a journey of killing, earning gold or casting spells, like AD&D does, for exxample.

I am not worthy !
Now, part of the review guidelines for this forum is that one should not simply praise without giving good reason why: however, in this case there are so many good reasons for praise that i am overwhelmed.
So, to keep it simple: this is the Arthurian roleplaying game. You play a knight, or maybe a clecrk or lady, or maybe even (though i would not reccomend it) a magician.
Yes, that is about it for "character classes". You see, the game depends a lot more on your characters background and personality than his "powers". Do not worry though, there will be lots of fights anyway.
If you like medival stuff (but not so much that you let facts get inthe way of fun, wich the medivals themselves would find silly) you will like this game.
A lot.
The not - so - simple, pretentious version...
I suppose one way to start would be its base material, the most splendid cycle of legend in Britain, the chronicle of King Arthur Pendragon. Sadly, the legend in our time has been tainted by superficial sentimentality, dried out by cheap attempts at making it historical (often just an excuse to make it but another version of poor conan the barbarian), and mocked by new - age foolishness. The wonder of this game is that it takes all these limited approaches and simply lets them be absorbed by the origional noble medival tales, creating a setting of vibrant richness.
Another important point: this is a game that is much larger on the inside than the outside. There are mysteries in it that simply never will be solved, even though one feels a hint of their massive importance. But building on them is a clear, if complex, world of heroism and everyday responsibillities. But even if you try to stick to "normal" knightly deeds, you can still get caught up in the labyrinths of politics and romance.
Last but not least, this game does exactly what it was intended to: rules, mood, and setting are in perfect symbiosis. This becomes painfully clear when talented but lesser designers try to muck about with the basics: just look at fourth editions pathetic magic system. Still, at least they had the good sense to make it optional.
This is the best role - playing game in the world. Try to be worthy of it.

King of RPG's
It's been a whlie since I've played this, or any other game.

This game lives up to it's title. While, perhaps, a bit more gritty than the "Once and Future King" stories, the rules do an excellent job of re-creating the world of King Arthur. I've been Role Playing for quite a while now... 14 years? And this is one of the best games out there, and a very refreshing change from the Monty Haul-ism of D&D and the like.

The emphasis here is on ROLE PLAYING. The rules focus on attempting to become a perfect knight, a paragon of virtue, and a knight of renoun. Unlike other games, this game incorporates a "winter season" that assumes downtime, and allows your character to age. Yes, aging is a part of this game, and perhaps your character's children will get to adventure as well.

The Traits operate on a balance scale of 20 points - The total of these two attributes add up to 20. So you have, perhaps, Merciful 17 - Cruel 3. Passions are things you feel strongly about, your Lord, hate of the Saxons, etc.

This is a sample of the way the rules are designed to help you Role Play rather than Roll Play.

Combat and Magic are taken much more seriously than in D&D. Your character's hit pionts are derived from their stats, and stay that way for the rest of the game (more or less). The most hit points you can have is 39. Armor absorbs damage. Now, what's the most damage our 39 hit point character can do with his sword? 7D6 - that's up to 42 points, with an average of 24/25.

Combat is to be taken seriously!

As for Magic, well. This isn't D&D. There's none of the flash-bang Magic that there is in D&D. In fact, Merlin would be impressed by the magic a 2nd level D&D wizard could do. Spells take a long time to cast. Holy Ground, High Holidays, group ceremonies, etc. have a great effect on the outcome of spells. This is a game where players will spend weeks or months preparing spells, to be cast in holy places, on high holy days. Then spending time resting and recuperating after spells have been cast.

I don't know how supplements handle magic, Faerie, etc. Notice again that the emphasis here is on Role Playing, Storytelling, not FLASH-BANG effects. This game gives you opportunities to describe events, tournaments, adventures, celebrations, not just hack-and-slash fighting.

This game isn't for everyone, even those who it is for may take a while to acclimate. Like Castle Falkenstein, and Amber, this game is designed to help you tell a story. The rules add to the drama, they aren't just a collection of rules on how to create powerful characters and how to fight with them. Role Playing came out of Wargaming, and it shows. This is one of the few games that elevates Role Playing to the status of art. This is a game that returns to us the lost art of Story Telling.

Lives of the Musicians--Good Times, Bad Times, and What the
I first read lives of the musicians when I was about 7 yearsold or so. Then, I thought it was terrific. I still do. However, I amnow 12 years old, and now that I have paid more attention to it, I see several faults, but overall it is still a very good book. First of all, their choice of musicians is not the best. I would have recommended Debussy and Schubert, like the Kirkus Reviewer. Some of the composers I have hardly ever heard of, like Igor Stravinsky or Nadia Boulanger. And while Clara Schumann was a great pianist, I think they should have focused more on her husband, Robert, a prolific composer, whose works are among the very best. Also, some of the parts of the biographies are questionable. Frederic Chopin may not have actually been romantically involved with Aurore Dudevant (George Sand), but in love with the Countess Delphine Potocka. The book states that the Waltz in D-Flat, or Minute Waltz, was written for George Sand's dog, when in fact it was probably written for Potocka. However, the book was still very well written, and I enjoyed it, despite the possible mistakes. I recommend this book to anyone who likes music, classical or not. So sit back and enjoy!

I Loved This Book.....
I loved this book because it made those musicians seem like real people instead of great-all-star-super-geniuses. It is full of strange little facts about all the famous musicians like Bach,Gershwin,Beethoven and Schmann.

---Megan W.

Lives of the Musicians
This book provides interesting insight into the lives of composers. I teach music to elementary and high school students and I read this book to all of my students. They all enjoy learning the details of the composers lives. The book presents the composers in such a way that the students remember the information about the composers. The book does not provide information about what the composers' music sounds like, and that is something I also like to teach. A great book to gain kids'interest in famous composers.

A place for warriors in the body of Christ
Ms. Arthur is an anointed teacher who is helping this reader discover the "Battle," who is battling whom, why there is a battle, and the armor Jesus left for us to gird ourselves with to effectively fight the one Jesus defeated on the Cross. Satan's deceptions and weapons seemed much stronger, much more fearful before I entered this thought-provoking bible study that is leading me step-by-step to a realization of just what Jesus has already done for us. Ms. Arthur's teaching insist's the student think, yet offers steady help along the way as she builds upon knowledge gained chapter by chapter. If you're ready to work at acquiring the know-how to find life beyond circumstance and above defeat while learning more about scriptures to use the way Jesus defeated Satan during His temptations, this Bible Study re: warfare is for you.

Very Thought Provoking -- Helps Develop One's Insights
Kay Arthur truly has a heart for God. And He has blessed her (and us) by creating within her heart a love for us members of Christ's body. Through that love, she has developed a wonderful guide that teachs us how to search the scriptures for answers. Furthermore, rather than present a list of her own personal interpretations, she presents scriptures, asks us questions about them, and advises us to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit while we struggle with the questions. So it is really the Holy Spirit who teachs us. But Kay provides the vehicle for the planned trip. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to "be strong in the Lord" so that they may be able to "stand firm in the evil day". (Eph.6:10-12)

You will grow and be blessed by this book!
I have grown so much by reading Kay's books. If you want to grow in your ability to stand firm against Satan then this is a wonderful book. Kay makes you do the digging in the Bible and it makes for a very solid foundation in your walk with the Lord. It is not the type of book to make you see a boogy man around every corner. Very sensible and not sensationalistic. If you do what she recommends for each of the studies then you will be greatly blessed by the Lord through this book!
