Very Useful Guide -- Enhanced Our Trip!
This book is a Gem! We found it highly informative, accurate, and useful on our recent trip to Seattle and Ocean Shores, Washington. The book provides the essentials without being too wordy. Interesting tidbits galore! One example of the book's usefulness was a recommendation to dine at Ocean Crest Resort in Moclips because "you won't find a more spectacular view anywhere on the Washington coast." Well, from the outside, this Resort is nothing special. In fact, were it not for the book, we never would have thought of stopping there. But are we glad. What a view! Dense trees, framing an ocean view, with a winding wooden staircase leading in erratic zig zags down to the beach below. It was worth the cost of the book! ....

Frommer's Washington State
I found this to be an excellent user friendly, tradtional tourist guide book. However, it was published in 1998 and would be better if updated. It offers "The best of" in more than a dozen categories such as restaurants, B&Bs, hikes, etc which gives good starting points for trip planning. Phone numbers and web site address are available to obtain more detailed information on areas of interest. A map of "Washington State Driving Times " was very helful since we have found that in unfamiliar locations, driving times are sometimes easy to misfigure based only on milage.

Like other Frommer's guide books that I have used, I find this type of advice the best because it lists good choices from expensive to budget. For an average family tourist, this book is an excellent general guide.

Book review from Silver Magazineby Will Chandler
The first edition of Janet Drucker's Georg Jensen: A Tradition of Splendid Silver was published just four years ago, in 1997. Now, just a few breaths later, a revised and expanded second edition with an updated price guide is out. Given the impressive richness of the first edition, one might say,"So soon?" The first edition had gone out of print, but it would have been more usual at this remove to reprint it without revisions. The reasons are not especially apparent at first glance; the jacket design(and the jacket advertising copy) has barely changed, the general organization and graphic design of the first edition have been retained in the second, and the number of pages is about the same. When one sits down with both editions and begins to compare them page by page, the differences quickly become apparent. A very large amount of new material has been added into the new book, including 250 new images and expanded archival information on production and designers. Since the publication of the first edition, so much previously unavailable material came to light that its inclusion seemed paramount.
No matter how long and fully one has worked on a research project in the arts, as soon as one publishes, more material, often keenly interesting material, appears in response to the publication. A study of the second edition's acknowledgements suggests that the beauty and inclusiveness of the first edition brought the suthor new contacts with other dealers, collectors, museum curators, auctioneers, and other specialists, each of whom had something wonderful to add to the story.
In the case of the new photographs in the second edition, many previously unlocated Jensen pieces turned up. Some pieces illustrated in the first edition only in rather murky old catalogue or magazine photos became available for new color photography. Additional historical photos surfaced as well. The net gain of images in the new book is(by my count) just over two hundred color and black-and-white images overall. That the new addition is physically about the same size as the old one owes to a meticulous reworking of the layout on perhaps half the pages in the book. There was enough "air" (unused white space) in the basic design of the text pages for the first edition to accommodate many more photos in the second edition without choking the graceful layout of the book.
One of the most important innovations of the second edition is also easily overlooked in a casual inspection, and it will prove very useful to collectors and dealers in understanding Jensen product. The photo captions now include all Jensen design numbers that were stamped on their items of jewelry and hollowware, along with the trademarks and other marks on the back and bottoms of the pieces(only some of these were available to the author for the first edition) All Jensen jewelry and hollowware items were so marked, except for special-order pieces, and much of the earliest flatware was also marked in this way. As in the first edition, there is a full explanation of the marking system near the end of the book. Other important additions to the book are more readily apparent. These include complete reprints of the Jensen illustrated flatware catalogues for the Cactus(flatware pattern 30) and Acorn (flatware pattern 62) patterns, and for the so-called"Unique Serving Pieces". These include seventy-two ornamental serving utensils in a variety of numbered patterns not matching the full-line flatware patterns. The new edition also includes both chronological and production data for all of the sterling silver designs of Henning Koppel that were produced for the Jensen company. The Value Reference Guide has also been updated. This guide is not based on opinion but consists of actual auction records from sales in the major American and British houses over the past decade.
Given that the first edition had been sold out before public demand for the book had subsided, a reprinting would have been welcome enough. Both the author and the publisher are to be congratulated for instead producing this most significant and valuable revised and expanded second edition. I am glad to recommend it to owners of the first edition along with the ever-expanding group of collectors of Jensen"estate" silver who were not able to obtain the orginal book.

Reveiw by Sandra Todaro, Vintage Costume Jewelry Society
Collectors of jewelry of any type now have another acquisition for which to long. It's a signature piece, finely detailed, a valued addition to any serious collection. It is a jewel indeed, but you may not find it at the jewelers. It's a creation of Janet Drucker and it should stand the test of time, for Drucker has crafted Georg Jensen A Tradition of Splendid Silver into a splendid guidebook.

Not a dry tome, crackling with boredom, this book offers an at once scholarly treatise on Jensen amd a readable reference as well. Drucker sets up the volume by putting Jensen's ascendency into prospective. She grounds him in his time period and explains the forces which created his work and appeal. Not settling for another long line of picture strewn collection catalogs, she introduces the reader to Jensen's life story in a well written and very readable text. Next the collector's delight: the litany of his accomplishment.

Chapters are devoted to his jewelry, his holloware and his flatware. Then Drucker offers the benediction with a look at Jensen's worldwide legacy. But don't stop there, because the appendix offers the musuem collections of the master and a listing of the artists whose work built the Jensen line.

Now, lest you think this book is a must for scholars only, rest assured the exquisite photography and the easy to read captioning will make this gem a perfect adornment for your home library. If you know Jensen or not, Georg Jensen A Tradition of Splendid Silver will be splendid for you.

Fun book!
I'm the owner of one of the apartment houses that are listed in this book. It's a private residence, so out of respect for my tenants' privacy, I won't specify which one.

Even though I wasn't the owner at the time this book was published, I can confirm that one of the families living there is still experiencing occasional phenomena. Granted, it's nothing as extreme as the incidents detailed in the book by a few of the former tenants, but it's still enough to remind them that not every noise in the dark or slamming door has a neat and tidy explanation.

Overall, this is a fun book. If you're looking for a good book for late night reading, I'd recommend this one.

An excellent book and very fun to read!
This has got to be one of the most interesting books on ghostly phenomena out there to date! The format used by the author for each story in the book was creative and is something I have yet to see in other books on the subject of ghosts. Because the format was unique, it made the book very interesting and such a pleasure to read! For those looking for good ghost stories to read without getting bored, this book will not dissapoint you. An excellent read!

Everything from Soup to Nuts..
The Benford Lexicon, now in a new edition, is simply put, an absolutely essential work for anyone who wishes to understand Gilbert and Sullivan. By using this book, the shellac of years of tradition can be stripped off of performances, and the true wit and beauty of Gilbert, as reflected in the Music of Sulivan, can shine through. It also is quite helpful to the audience member in understanding some of the clever, although now not fully topical, references in these works. (Capt. Shaw, Army-Navy Stores, Knightsbridge, Camberwell a Bower, Peckham an Arcadian Vale... and so forth..)

A Must-Have Resource for All Savoyards
This book is the first place I turn to with any language question in the wonderful world of Gilbert & Sullivan. Mr. Benford writes clearly and consisely, with a delightful (and occasionally wince-inducing) wit. Highly recommended.

Fun even for pre-readers
I bought this for a long plane trip for my 2.5 yr old son who loves other Arthur books. He had fun with the stickers, even though he is too young to grasp the concept of placing the stickers on the respective words, he enjoyed the story, and I enjoyed having a lightweight book that kept him entertained for quite a while.

Fun for little ones!
My 2 year old LOVES Arthur-she's too little to read, but we located the "blue" words and then found the related sticker to match them. She loves the story and when she's older, she can read the words. This book also have a whole page of stickers to use to create your own story. She loved this! Great book!

Rightly dividing the Word in this Book of Redemption
Gleanings in Exodus is classic Pink; scholarly without being pedantic; rich, yet practical for everyday living; rich in typology exalting Jesus Christ as the Head of His Church.

Respectfully, this book is for the serious student. Not a quick read, but rather a book that requires reflection as the author "compares spiritual things with spiritual."

I have read several of Rev. Pink's works; this is by far one of his finest.

Pink's Exodus
As always, Pink squeezes much juice from the fruit of the text and shares it with us liberally. In many places he also shares the pith of the Puritans with whom he was intimately conversant. The only Pink to avoid is his 'Antichrist', whose faulty eschatology he was later to disavow. His 'Sovereignty' of God must be also shunned in the Banner of Truth edition, emasculated by the knife of its editor, Iain Murray. It's a must-have, but only in the unabridged edition from Baker. Other than that, add as much Pink to your library as your budget allows. Save your lunch money.

Incredible resource
Gleanings in Genesis is very helpful resource in study. A.W. Pink has a knack for really reaching through the pages of scripture and pulling out some awesome gems. Also it is worth having for any serious student of Typology. It is almost as good as Habershon's study of the types. I have read a few of Mr. Pink's books and have enjoyed all of them alot. But I can say that by far this is one of his best books ever. From the opening to the finish he does not lose your interest in the study of Genesis. This is very basic and very deep at the same time. No price is too high to pay for it because it is worth every penny!

A very insightful and meaty commentary of Genesis.
Pink's insight into the Scriptures is staggering. He does a masterful job of linking the major themes of the Old Testament to the New Testament. He also brings out some fascinating types and shadows that provide great insight as to the nature of Jesus. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to go deeper into the Word.

Wonderful Study!!
WOW! I had never read the book of Daniel, other than the stories (lion's den, etc). This book really made me get into the meat of the word. I learned so much about the Bible. I had never realized the prophecy that was in Daniel, and I was just amazed by what I learned. This is definitely my favorite of the IIS books so far.

This Book Will Get You Excited About God
This is the first book I read in the International Inductive Study Series, and it is my favorite! If you are not a regular student of God's Word, this is a great tool to get you into the Bible in just 15 minutes each day. The assignments are short and simple, yet Kay causes you to ask questions that will impact your understanding of the text. I knew that Daniel was prophetic, but I had no idea that there was so much more in this book than prophecy. This man Daniel was precious in God's eyes, and I want to be like him! But the prophecy portion of the book is amazing, too. I highly recommend that you get a "feel" for the content of Daniel before moving to something like Revelation. When you read and understand the prophecies of Daniel, and you realize that this book is indeed a blueprint for biblical prophecy, and when you realize that history has followed this blueprint to the letter, you'll most probably find yourself on your face, praising God for His wonder and for His magnificent Word.

Great Comic
This third installment of the Dark Horse, Godzilla series is easily the best. The comic is well drawn and the characters are fleshed out; plus, it pays fitting homeage to the orginal Godzilla movies. In it, Godzilla encounters a variety of bizarre creatures and alien beings. He also gets moved through time by a mad scientist. Full of wild plot twists and high quality art, Godzilla: Past Present Future is likely to be enjoyed by Godzilla fans of all ages.

GREAT!
A great collection of some of Dark Horse's Godzilla comics. In these comics, Godzilla battles the Black Hole aliens' (from "GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA" [1974] and "TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA" [1975]) mechacial-spider; some giant hunters from outer space; and runs amok through time.
