This doesn't need to be a quesiton for you.
Can the Almighty really control everything or do some things slip through His grasp? Of course, there is the devil, and he is just as powerful as God, isn't he? Perhaps, he gets the upper hand on God, catching Him off-guard. Aren't they fighting constantly for control of the world?

Maybe God doesn't want to do anything about evil the world. Perhaps, He has a dark side that doesn't care about human suffering, or even enjoys it. Can He be trusted to do what's best for the world?

In this book, Kay Arthur answers your questions concerning evil in the world. She leads you through Habakkuk and many related texts to show you who God is and why we should trust Him. Learn the truth about the God of the Bible from the Bible itself. Discover how God will deal with evil and injustice, and what He's already done to curtail it.

Establish yourself in the truth of God's Word. Christianity's #1 problem needn't be a problem for you.

This Book Will Renew Your Faith in God
This book is awesome! It definitely answers the question of "Lord, where are You when bad things happen?" Unfortunately, sometimes God is using the bad to judge sin. This book is very thorough, though, and reminds us of the character of God. If we are obedient to Him, if we love Him, then He will turn the bad into our ultimate good. By looking at the words of Habakkuk the prophet, you will be challenged to say, "Lord, things look bad, but I trust You. As long as I have You, I will stand, no matter what." If you're only willing to read one book in the "Lord" series, choose this one! It will expose you to God's Word and renew your faith in God.

Fascinating, hopeful and rigourous
I picked this book up in an attitude of utter skepticism. "TM can make a more peaceful society - hogwash!"

Then I read the whole book. It is well-written, well-argued, and based on what seems to be very good research. It looks like there may be some truth to this unbelievable claim - if enough people practice this form of meditation, social indicators improve. Less crime, less "noise" in the society, more coherence.

This is a genuinely hopeful book. I'm glad I read it.

New and age old approach to world peace
Elaine and Arthur Aron are sociologists, who have accompanied the scientific researches of the Maharishi Effect through the last 20 years. Maharishi Effect is called the phenomenon that a large number of the population (1% or more) practicing Transcendental Meditation can reduce negative tendencies like crime in society. The fascinating synthesis of this book is a perspective of world peace on the solid ground of scientific research. Strongly recommended for all who love life and peace.

Neuroanatomy for the masses
In many US medical schools, the didactic years are marked by an institution known as the Note Pool. Inasmuch as the prevailing motto is "Cooperate and Graduate," classes of medical students will join forces to systematically attack the task of assimilating the vast amount of factual information under which they're routinely buried. Because almost all lectures are taken in common (i.e., the first two years of med school jam everybody into the same classroom), it's possible for everyone to make use of the same notes.

Enter the Note Pool. Like the doctors they'll become, medical students approach their work with different aptitudes, interests, and educational backgrounds -- and they *specialize*. If there are five lectures in biochemistry every week, the average class of med students is bound to have at least five members with a background (often at postgraduate level) in biochemistry, and there will be a volunteer for each lecture who will accept responsibility for concentrating attention on a particular day's presentation, bashing the material into cogency, and submitting it for photocopying and distribution to the entire class.

Back in the days when we ran off our notes on a mimeograph machine, I was a sort of "utility infielder" for our Note Pool, filling in when people couldn't make it to class, handling the extra lectures that got shuffled into our schedules, and generally shouldering the extra work that came along. (Needless to say, I became a general practitioner.) Neuroanatomy was one of those one-trimester courses that "came along." I got stuck with both of the weekly lectures, and that leads us to a discussion of *Manter and Gatz's Essentials of Clinical Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology*.

Bearing a double burden of lectures to cover (while also running the Note Pool's mimeograph machine), I had desperate need of a "cheat sheet" to help me get at the essentials of this subject, and I found it in a much earlier edition of this book. Lucid, economically written, and perpetually on-point, *Manter and Gatz* enabled me not only to educate myself in the essentials of human neuroanatomy but also to put the material in order for the rest of my med school class. The present edition (reviewed here) is BETTER than the book that saved our collective butt back in the days before Mangled Care, and I would recommend it not only to medical students and the FMGs striving to break into the bleak present practice environment but also to medical writers in need of an inexpensive, reliable, and accessible source of information on this extremely important subject.

As the present electoral hoo-haw amply demonstrates, the vast majority of the population certainly doesn't make any effective *USE* of what they're carrying between their ears. This notwithstanding, the silly boogers do have central nervous systems, and it behooves those of us responsible for the medical care of these damned fools to know how those neurons and their supporting structures are organized. *Manter and Gatz* provides that much and more.

Super Book--And Practical!
Practical Insights into the Mechanics of Conflict January 6, 2003
I read this book nearly 10 years ago and found it very helpful. As a pastor of over 23 years and a survivor of a few humdinger conflicts, it was comforting to know that conflicts have patterns. It also helped me control my own responses.

I wouldn't wish church conflicts on a dog, but they seem to come (to most of us in the ministry, not dogs!) no matter what precautions we take. But they can often be contained early, and this book can help. It will also help you accept that conflict is common and to be expected, therefore leading us to the conclusion that one should be as prepared as possible. The chapters are all pretty good, but those written by Speed Leas excel.

The time to read this book is before (or early on)conflict begins. Every pastor needs to be prepared for what is inevitable. Lay leaders (board members, etc.) can also benefit from this book. Also helpful would be Terry Muck's book, "When to Take A Risk."

Practical Insights into Church Management
The authors approach Church Management from their various perspectives, but all seem to have a grip on managing a church, everywhere from facilities to staff to offering security to planning.

This is a fine book with some great specific suggestions.

Merlin and the Dragons
This book you are about to read, will have knights ,dragons, merlin, and kings. this bookis called Merlin adn the Dragons. It is a fantasy book that is made up. The authoris Jane Yolen. It is also illstrated by Li Ming. It has thirtyfour pages in it.
The setting in my book is back in king Aurthers time in a whole bunch of places where there were two dragons eggs and everytime they breath in and out the tower would fall and crumblb to the growned. The story is about dragons and knights, kings and one merlin. They take this kid with them one day at a time and the kid with them for one day and he gets to choose what he wants to be.
I can give you three reasons why I like this book. One it has the stuff that I like. Two is about stuff that my mom likes and threae itha merlins and dragons in it.
I think that peole should read this book because ithas lots of cool pictures. But this is the most important thing is it has cool stuff like the dragons and knights.

A fanstastically illustrated Arthurian book for children,
who will be enchanted by the story of the young Merlin. This is the tale of the boy (Merlin) and his confrontation of Vortigern. The tyrant needs a boy 'without a father', whose blood must keep Vortigern's crumbling tower upright. But Merlin has a dream that foretells of a battle between a red and a white dragon. On his instruction, a lake beneath the tower is drained, and two eggs are found. A red and a white dragon burst forth..they fight.. Spellbinding! Jane Yolen is a renowned writer, and this great book is illustrated beutifully by Li Ming.

Great Book for a Chorus Member
This is the most widley used book and not that expensive so Isuggest if you are in the show and don't have a huge part, (ie theChorus) to use this book. It is easy to read and has all of the samethings as most of the others, I just got done using it and was verypleased.

Very Popular Vocal/Piano Score of The Mikado
Probably the most popular printed score of The Mikado, this G. Schirmer edition has been used for years and years by hundreds of amateur and professional groups in presenting the opera. All the music is contained here for piano and voice. The piano part is NOT EASY; it very closely follows Sullivan's originals. I particulary enjoy reading along with it when I listen to a recording.

Great Edition for Performer
As a performer, the most important asset of a score is legibility and freedom from errors. This PV is superb in that it is very legible and corrects errors from prior PV's. It is also inexpensive enough that a performer need not fear guilty about writing in the margins or breaking the binding. While not a critical edition, it has everything that a performer would want in a PV, and I would unhesitatingly recommend it over ANY other PV presently on the market, even those which have been "authenticated".

A perfect performing edition
The best friend you could have when performing this show. Newly revised and perfectly engraved, a must.

The one book about WWI you have to buy
This book, although humbly titled "military atlas" provides all the necessary information on the first WW, from the motivations and politics, to weapon types, warfare tactics, railroad systems not only in Europe, but on all the periphal campaigns as well and by the way, you get the most comprehensive maps on the preluding balkan wars as well. The maps themselves are in black&white, but perfectly presented, with clear, sharp contrasts, so that it's very easy to read them even if you're without military background.
The book succeeds in being the ideal starting point for anyone being even remotely interested in WW1.
Every map is accompanied by a short summary of what's going on, most of the times even in the maps themselves which makes the information very easy to consummate.
The real value of the book lies in the fact that it presents the actions and campaigns and politics without judging them, without being biased in any sort of way, may it be the old good vs. bad stereotype or the modern pacifistic viewpoint: It just provides information and what you do with it is up to you.
Highly recommended.

Accurate, detailed and complete graphic account of WWI
This book is an essential companion for every First World War scholar or simply interested reader. The maps accurately illustrate the developing of operations on land and sea (including some on the submarine and mine warfare). The air war is very well illustrated as far as the zeppelin operations are concerned; I would have liked also a detailed account of bombers-fighters operations on the various fronts. Maps for the african, italian, palestinian, macedonian and mesopotamian fronts are included, together with those relating to the Western and Eastern theaters. I have found the tables on the various weapons very useful and complete. As an Italian reader I have to confess that I found the maps about the Italian front rather sketchy. Even with this little (and ultimately not much important) flaws, this is a great book, providing the reader with a definitive guide on the Great War fronts and warfare. Read it together with B. Liddel Hart's or J. Keegan's books on the conflict and you will have a reasonably complete understanding of WWI from the military point of view.

Twenty-two gong tale belong velly well all ages bimeby
Subtitled "Swallows and Amazons in the South China Seas", this tenth volume in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series is actually a sequel to the second, "Peter Duck". Those readers familiar with the background to the earlier volume will not be surprised to learn that the emphasis within this book is on rather wild and exotic high-seas adventuring for a group of six English school children, together with their middle-aged uncle, a parrot and a mischievous monkey, aboard their schooner, Wild Cat.

This time around, the crew of the Wild Cat (without Peter Duck) again find themselves face to face with pirates, although under somewhat different circumstances and of a rather different kind from those in their earlier adventure. They also face a fate that English schoolchildren probably once considered worse than death - a life of perpetual Latin lessons!

Anyone coming to this book without the benefit of at least the first three volumes of the series ("Swallows and Amazons", "Peter Duck" and "Swallowdale") may struggle a little with just who people are and why things are the way they are, so I don't recommend diving straight into the series here! If you've read the first three books, though, there is absolutely no need to leave this one until its place in the published sequence, as it does not tie into any of the intervening volumes. Anyone familiar with the earlier books will know exactly what to expect here; nor will they be disappointed. Whilst aimed at children, the book remains a delightful read whatever one's age.

A must have for the series collector
If you collect the Swallows and Amazons series, you simply must have this book in your collection. If, on the other hand, you are just someone looking for a good book, well...this is a GREAT book. It is a classic that both children and adults will love and enjoy many times over.
Arthur Ransome is one of the greatest authors ever to live, and his books reflect that fact.

Mission Ziffoid
My 7-year old son has difficulties reading -- so getting him interested enough in any book to struggle through to the last page was, until Mission Ziffoid, a chore. But with it's everyday conversational style, kid-builds-his-own-spaceship-and-encounters-silly-aliens theme, great illustrations and direct, repeated hits on my child's funny bone, Mission Ziffoid was the first book to motivate him to WANT to read. For us, it was the "breakthrough" book, a true turning point. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for the magic key to opening a child's interest in reading.

Very silly and entertaining
Our little boy loves this book, and we find it pretty entertaining too! It is very silly and fun to read.
